The United States is still struggling from the effects of major recession.
Unemployment is creeping down ever so slowly. Intense regulation is throttling development in this country. Businesses do not want to hire, for fear that they will not recoup their investments.
In the midst of these ongoing economic issues, the Democrats in the Senate want to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act.
Now could not be a worse time to break the vows of traditional marriage. Submitting bills that have no chance of passage is a sheer waste, one that distracts legislators and frustrates voters who are still waiting for leadership in the simple guise of compromise.
Instead of defining with which people may choose to spend their lives, the United States Government needs to step out of regulating everything -- people's lives, the economy, and the investment decisions that individuals choose to pursue.
Senator Charles Grassley is on target when he calls out this attempted bill a mere ploy to shore up support with the disillusioned liberal base of the Democratic Party. Yet even liberals have bills to pay, the left-wing of any party still wants to raise families and have something left over for their posterity.
Economic realities are the call to order in Congress. Any politicians who wants to play politics in these volatile times has no business representing anyone in Washington D. C.
