I have finished the work which Thou gavest Me to do. — John 17:4
Jesus did not cry out "It is Finished" on the Cross (John 19:30) just as a grand sigh of relief that the enormous torture of dying on the Cross was over.
He was testifying to the end once and for all of sacrifices, the end of atonement for the sins of man, and the eternal reconciliation of all who believe with God the Father.
"Jesus Christ hates the wrong in man, and Calvary is the estimate of His hatred."
The more we reflect on the power and completion of the Finished Work at Calvary, the more we grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord, and the more He works within us to do HIs good pleasure.
