Why People Do Not Walk By Faith

A good pastor teaches us to walk by faith, not by sight, not merely trusting our feelings.

They teach us the power and significance of walking not by our senses.

There are so many eternal verities in us and around us.

Yet to tell me that we need to walk by faith, I will be focused on my faith.

We do not get faith by thinking about faith, or meditating on the fact that so much of what is real is invisible.

We get faith as we see Jesus:

"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God [lit. Christ]" (Romans 10: 17)

If we want to get better at seeing that which is eternal, let us grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ:

"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord." (2 Corinthians 3: 18)

and

"17That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power," (Ephesians 1:17-19)

But above al:

"16That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God." (Ephesians 3: 16-19)

We understand this love as we grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus (2 Peter 3: 18), that He has died for all our sins and His blood keeps on cleansing us (1 John 1: 7)

People fail to walk by faith in key areas of their lives because to a certain extent they do not believe that their sins are forgiven, or they fear the reproach of man or some lie, which continues to keep them in bondage.

As we see more of Christ in His Word, full of grace and truth, then we find our faith growing, and we are able to walk by faith in more areas of our lives.
