Wisconsin’s junior US Senator Tammy Baldwin has submitted the
“Women’s Health Protection Act”, which would permit the federal government to
override any state law which inhibits a woman’s access to an abortion. Liberal
supporters will contend that her legislation will preempted South Carolina US
Senator Lindsey Graham’s legislation to prevent abortions after twenty weeks.
Baldwin’s bill is a bald
violation of the Tenth Amendment, which guarantees to the states and the people
the primary responsibility for protecting individual rights not explicitly
enumerated in the United States Constitution.
Her expansive views on abortion clash with the majority of
women, who believe that the procedure should be safe, legal, and rare, yet the
invasive surgery should not occur twenty week after conception, unless the life
of the mother is endangered.
Furthermore, her measure to protect women’s rights has enabled
her to wave the “War on Women” flag, which is nothing more than a cynical, subtle
attempt to distract the country from the current and rising failures of the
Democratic President and his beleaguered liberal colleagues in Congress.
If Senator Baldwin really wants to protect women’s health,
along with promoting the rights of Americans to choose, she should vote to
repeal the cumbersome, disastrous, and irreversibly corrupted Patient
Protection and Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as “Obamacare”. Specifically,
she should cosponsor senior US Senator Ron Johnson’s reforms, submitted in response
to the careless rollout of the federal website and massive cancellation of
current insurance plans, which have left millions of potential patients
unprotected.
