Deregulation for the Central Valley

Congressman Devin Nunes (R-Tulare) deserves recognition for attacking the foolish regulations that protect fish and force farmers to endure drought, especially in the wake of an economic recovery which still witnesses massive foreclosures and unemployment throughout the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.

As a Southern California resident, I hope that the waterways will once again flow freely throughout the state, that the harvest and irrigation of Northern California will continue to bless the L.A. Basin.

Federal judges have no business dictating to the state of California the ways and means of waterways in Northern California. These interests touch the residents of these communities. One more power grab by the Environmental Protection Agency has protected neither the environment of the people who live there. On this note, why is any federal legislator doing anything less than repealing federal jurisdiction over these matters? At least Nunes' bill is a step in the right direction, one which forces Democrats to concede, including the two Senators of California, that they do not hold the pressing needs of their constituents in highest regard.

Private interests operating in the public interest are in the best interest of all, whether growing crops or protecting wildlife. If we really want to do well for the fish, the farmers, as well as struggling families, a far more important endangered species than a school of fish, than legislation such as the bill proffered by Congressman Devin Nunes must be considered, passed, and signed into law as soon as possible.
