Lennox Little League Receives an Illicit Donation

I don't know whether to cry or vomit from surprised disgust.

The Lennox Coordinating Council openly and gladly received a donation from Jet Strip, a "gentlemen's club" that operates in the unincorporated Country territory just east of LAX.

What kind of a message are the parents in Lennox sending their youth when they cater to illicit businesses who want to prosper little leagues? This pandering is a blatant attempt to legitimize and illegitimate occupation and service (pardon the perverse pun).
I applaud the Special Olympics and the Make-A-Wish Foundation for turning down donations from Jet Strip. Yes, these establishments have a right to exist, provided that they respect the concerns of the community and the zoning laws of the state; but how many parents are now going to explain the illicit nature of this donation to their children?

Besides, this one-time donation will not tide the Little League over for the rest of the year. This donation is one more example of the slippery self-serving that some businesses will stoop to.

Ms Maria Verduzco Smith claims "They [Jet Strip proprietors] don't do anything illegal. It's a business. To each his own." Yet the enterprise is immoral. Would she want the children in the Lennox Little League to participate in such conduct when they grow older? This woman claims a leadership role in the community, yet she sees nothing wrong with passively justifying such an illicit enterprise.

I think that the parents and the community leaders in Lennox should be ashamed of themselves for compromising on maintaining a good standard for their children in order to fund a sport for their kids. This mixed message perpetuates the folly that the ends justify the means, a terrible lesson to impart when it seems that so many are already on shifting ground.

If Jet Strip and other clubs really want to help their communities, they ought to disband their operations entirely and invest in something wholesome for the entire family to enjoy. Presently, I strongly suggest that the Lennox Coordinating Council return the dirty donation immediately.
