Second Letter to the Indianapolis Star

Despite his persistent insistence, I am writing to Indiana voters, and the state and national Republican Party, to press Governor Mitch Daniels of Indiana would reconsider his voluntary refusal to run for President.

His efficacy, integrity, and clarity as chief executive of a Midwestern state all testify to his capacity to run an entire country.

He pressed for privatization of the thoroughfares in the Hoosier state, which saved taxpayer dollars and created safer and more efficient roads. Sponsoring the largest school voucher program in the country, he has awarded families and private schools the option to thrive, while pressuring public schools to compete for students and improve teacher quality.

"The Most Presidential Man in America" trusts Americans, not government, to create wealth with their freedom and accountability. Having postponed "right to work" legislation in order to focus his vision for the well-being of party and state, Daniels later kept his word to protect workers and invite prospective companies to invest in Indiana.

Governor Daniels knows how to pitch free market principles without scaring people. Unlike the current GOP candidates Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich, and Rick Santorum, Daniels talks Austrian economics in plain English, implements real plans for big ideas, and respects individuals enough to eschew legislating morality. Unlike the current front runner from Massachusetts, Daniels brings both sides together without compromising conservative principles.

Of course, his philosophy on the public purse is just the mindset we need in Washington: “It's tainted money. 'Taint yours, and 'taint mine."

Mitch ain't running, but I sure wish he was.
