The state is instituted to protect our rights, secure our borders, provide a stable system of arbitration and enforcement for free markets, then recognize all other rights with the states and the people.
President Obama's Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act tramples on individual liberty and state sovreignty, all while claiming to offer access to another right.
Freedom of religion is clearly protected in the First Amendment of the Constitution, yet the mandate requires institutions to provide medicine and care which conflicts with the tenets of private institutions.
There is no excuse for such extremism in regulation. President Obama has already had to back-peddle at length from portions of ObamaCare. Republicans in the Senate merely wanted to provide another means for allowing the states and the people to safeguard their rights without further infringement from the state.
If not for the empty insults from Rush Limbaugh, the Democrats would have suffered another major public relations fallout over this matter. Churches and other establishments of conscience or under attack with the growth of Big Government, no matter how moral the motives may have been to promote greater "access" to health care.
