Calvin Coolidge and Limited Government, Cont'd

"It is much more important to kill bad bills than to pass good ones."

"The government of the United States is a device for maintaining in perpetuity the rights of the people, with the ultimate extinction of all privileged classes."

Father of the Constitution James Madison would be proud.

Calvin Coolidge, the unflappable chief executive who channeled the Tao of Lao-Tzu without even trying--or without realizing it--best understood his role as President.

1. Prevent the encroachment of the state into the lives of its citizens.

2. Prevent bad laws from seeing the light of day.

3. Protect the rights of the people.

4. Prevent the hateful stratification of society which results from greater government control.
