How Do We Fight Fear? We Don't!

How do we deal with fear?

Do we call it prudence?

Do we ignore it?

Do we talk about it till we stop talking about, either out of fatigue or despair?

For starters, What is fear?

False

Evidence

Appearing

Real

We see or sense something, we spin it every way, find ourselves lost and disturb, then run from the imaginative monster we have inadvertently created.

Yet no matter how hard we train our minds to slay the monster of our own creation, we find ourselves shaken up and shivering.

We tell ourselves: there is nothing to fear, no reason to be afraid.

Yet it was our reason that manufactured the fear in the first place.

Our reason cannot reason our way out of what our reason reasoned into us in the first place.

If we cannot fight and defeat our fear, then who can? Christ Himself!

"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me." (John 14:1)

What does faith have to do with it? When we believe that the Lord loves us, nothing is impossible for us:

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

This love is so beyond us in its infinite goodness, yet what exactly does this love have to do with fear?

"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love." (1 John 4:18)

But what if my love is not perfect? Nonsense! For John then writes:

"We love him, because he first loved us." (1 John 4:19)

He loves us, loves us, loves us. Let His love soak into your very being, and you will never, ever be afraid! Even Moses portrayed this awesome love-power to the Israelites when they would go out to battle their enemies:

"And shall say unto them, Hear, O Israel, ye approach this day unto battle against your enemies: let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be ye terrified because of them;

For the LORD your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you." (Deuteronomy 20:3-4)

He is with you, He cares for you, and He fights for You. How can you possibly lose?

We do not fight, we certainly do not fight with fear, for fear is a conquered, vanquished, undone enemies. Walk in the faith that He loves you, that He is for you, and you can never lose!
