Full Statement to the Monterey City Council

To the Monterey City Council:

It really feels like God’s Country up here, and I think that it is more than fitting for me to speak in the city that had served as the first Capital for the Bear Flag Republic turned Golden State.

I am here with this incredible community of California Patriots urging you to opt out of SB 54, otherwise known as the Sanctuary State Law. This legislation is only a sanctuary for criminal foreign nationals who should have never entered nor resided in our state or our country. It is unconstitutional, as well, violating the enumerated powers clause of Article One, Section; the Protections Clause in Article Four, Section Four; and the Supremacy Clause of Article Six, Section Two. The United States Constitution is the Supreme Law of the Land, and you all took an oath to uphold and defend the United States Constitution. You must oppose SB 54.

This legislation has forced county sheriffs throughout the state to release violent criminals back onto our streets. Because of SB 54, Orange County Sheriff Sarah Hutchens was forced to release illegal aliens who had committed domestic violence, child cruelty, and sex with a minor. Props 47 and 57 have allowed courts to reduce felonies to misdemeanors, further allowing violent illegal aliens to be released back onto our streets. For this reason the supposedly exceptions listed in SB54 do not ultimately cash and forced deportation of these violent illegal aliens.

On my shirt you will see a picture of a true American dreamer, Rubin Morfin. He was executed by an illegal alien here in Monterey County, specifically Salinas California on December 29th 1990. His dreams are the dreams that matter.

62,000 American Dreamers have been murdered by illegal aliens since 9/11, enough is enough. It’s time for our local officials to do what our state legislature has refused to do: put Americans first, including the greatest in need: our homeless, foster children, the mental ill, our veterans, and even our homeless veterans populations.

Despite the fake news, the fact is that illegal aliens are committing a disproportionate number of crimes, including voter and ID fraud along with theft burglary, mayhem, violence, and murder. The political posturing and social justice warrior mentality coming out of Sacramento is endangering the lives of all Californians, including our law enforcement. To this day, the California Sheriff's Association still opposes SB 54, even after the last minute amendments before Governor Brown sign the bill.

Last of all, I wish to commend Monterey County Sheriff Steve Bernal for taking a stand to protect law enforcement and to protect the community by allowing ICE in to Monterey County jails.
As for the Monterey City Council, I am urging you to take the following steps:
  1. Pass Opt-Out Ordinance from SB 54
  2. Pass Resolution Opposing SB 54
  3. Issue a Stay of Compliance until the courts issue a final ruling on SB 54
  4. File Lawsuit Against State of California
  5. Join with Huntington Beach lawsuit against California
  6. File Joinder with DOJ/Huntington Beach lawsuit
  7. Urge your county sheriff to reject SB 54, comply with federal law, and publish all the release times and dates for inmates, legal and illegal.
