"Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
"So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me." (Hebrews 1:5-6)
That is such a wonderful promise, it needs to be said again and again, as often as possible.
Albeit, many believers believe in Christ for their salvation, but then they believe that they are on their own for everything else. He saves us, but it is then up to us for everything else.
Yet nothing could be further from the truth:
"What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
"He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?" (Romans 8:31-32)
Everything with God through Jesus Christ is gift!
Then, how are to we walk? How are we to live? Jesus answered these questions even before His death and resurrection:
"Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
"(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
"Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." (Matthew 6:31-34)
"Seek first the kingdom of God." Here, as elsewhere, it is crucial for the believer to rightly divide the word of God.
Because Jesus spoke these words before His death on the Cross, his listeners had to seek the kingdom.
After His death and resurrection, the Kingdom of Heaven is made to dwell in all believers through the power of the Holy Spirit (see Luke 11:13; 12:29-32)
Paul then tells us how the Kingdom of Heaven is manifested in us:
"For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost." (Romans 14:17)
The Holy Spirit is the present person of the Holy Spirit in us, and as He lives in us, by faith we recognize and allow His power to be released in us.
When we live be faith, receiving from Him with full trust, He works within us both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
No longer do we have to puzzle within ourselves for what we should do and how we are to get by in this life. He is our life, and in Him we are led to do all things as He sees fit! We do not even have to work up the will to do anything, for everything has been done of us at the Cross!
"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." (Romans 8:14)
And
"But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law." (Galatians 5:18)
When young people understand the power of God's grace working in us to such a complete extent, they will no longer feel pressure to try, to try and obey, to try and love, to try and do anything else, for all is gift by the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
