Teshuvah, we hardly know thee in this country.
Still, I would prefer the living amends without the apologies.
In some cases, the public has had more than its fill of public apologies -- Tiger Woods comes to mind. The man never did me any wrong, yet I still had to hear his confessions for days on end.
Now, about the corrupt politicians and financiers who played fast and loose with fast legislation and loose regulations, more than an apology is definitely in order.
"To admit guilt or self-doubt is to a run a touch-down into the other team's end zone."
I heartily agree, although I believe that our current President, as much as the previous Vice-President, has displayed his fair share of chutzpah, blaming everything from God, nature, the Arab Spring, and even former President Bush for the domestic problems weighing on this nation.
If anyone needs to practice teshuvah, it's President Obama; a fitting amends would be for him to step down from power and let someone else lead his party and this nation for the next four years.
