About two decades ago, ABC released a sitcom called "Dinosaurs."
An animatronic innovation with actors in large Dinosaur suits, with voice-overs from more prominent actors, the sitcom was a short-lived hit, dressing up current concerns in thte prehistoric trappings of a working-class dinosaur family, with father Earl Sinclair, mother Fran, and Baby.
Baby Sinclair loved to taunt Papa Dinosaur Earl with blows to the head, shouting
"Not the Momma! Not the Momma! Not the Mamma!"
The reminiscent taunting seems to have crept into the GOP Presidential Race, with the electorate clamoring for a "Not Obama! Not Obama!"
Even Robert Bork, the failed Reagan nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court, has given his support to the lackluster Mitt Romney only because he is "Not-Obama!"
From the TV show, Baby Sinclair's other catch phrases included: "Again! Again!" every time his father would throw him across the room. Baby also liked to coo: "Gotta Love me!"
Still, the other Republican candidates have been pleading "Gotta Love Me!" in debate after debate. And all the GOP faithful can say is, "Again! Again!"
Forced to settle with this field of candidates, Tea Party faithful and more establishment figures must coalesce around a candidate who is more than "Not-Obama!" or we may face President Obama "Again!" for another four years.
And I for one do not want to hear the current Vanity-in-Chief claw at me with "Gotta Love Me!"
