Fox News Reports Directly on Westlake Illegal Alien Fire

Fox News did not mince words about the illegal status of the arsonist-murderer:

Johnny Sanchez, a 21-year-old citizen of Honduras, was initially arrested in 2012 for crossing the southeastern California border illegally, the Los Angeles Times reported. Authorities said they released him because he had no criminal history or previous immigration violations at the time.

He was arrested again in January on suspicion of domestic violence and twice in the ensuing months on suspicion of drug possession, officials said.

After he crossed the border, authorities reportedly placed him under supervision and ordered Sanchez to report to them regularly -- but he stopped doing so in 2014, the Times adds.

ICE failed to their job. The Immigration Control and Enforcement agency has so much to answer for, including the lives of those five homeless Angelenos killed in the fire.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement never started the process of deporting him, spokeswoman Virginia Kice said, adding that the reason why was unclear. She told the newspaper it's ICE policy “to focus on individuals who pose a public safety threat.”

Once again, every illegal who breaks into this country poses a threat to public safety, precisely because they flout federal law, and even dismiss our borders!

The fire on Monday killed five homeless people. Four of the badly burned bodies weren't found until Tuesday afternoon, when search dogs located them under a heap of debris on the second floor.

Let that image haunt your imagination. Four bodies charred to blackened death. Nothing else.

Sanchez was in some kind of fight with the others and lit the fire with the intent to kill, Los Angeles Police Capt. Billy Hayes said.

Illegal immigration, homelessness, joblessness, all of this destruction is destroying our cities.

The suspect was charged Wednesday with five capital murder counts and was ordered held without bail.

The charges against Sanchez, who's also homeless, make him eligible for the death penalty if he's convicted, if prosecutors choose to pursue it.

It took nearly 150 firefighters more than two hours to extinguish the fire in the green, two-story building that once was home to an acupuncture clinic. It is surrounded by strip malls and an apartment building in the Westlake District about a mile west of downtown LA.

Johnny  Sanchez of the Westlake fire

The structure appeared to be singed and some of its windows were blown out. It did not appear seriously damaged from the outside, but the inside was badly burned and most of the roof was gone.

There had been complaints about the building recently, Terrazas said, and authorities had contacted the owner -- who has sought a demolition permit for the building -- about keeping people out.

Reflection

Look at the above picture of Sanchez.

He has tattoos on his back.

He has a neatly-shaved haircut.

He was even wearing an earring.

For a guy who was homeless, he seemed to be pretty well-off.

Other questions come up.

Why did the city stall on a demolition permit?

Why has the homelessness situation gone from bad to worse in Los Angeles?

Why did ICE refuse to deport the criminal alien in the first place?

How much more of this nonsense are people going to tolerate in Los Angeles and throughout the state of California?!

Outrageous: DA Won't Seek Death Penalty Against Westlake Five Illegal Alien Arsonist

June 14th, 2016, illegal alien transient Johnny Josue Sanchez set fire to an abandoned warehouse in retaliation against another homeless squatter.

Johnny Sanchez of Honduras, arrested

His fire ended up murdering five Americans and nearly killed two others.

I found out about this story through a contact who monitors illegal alien crimes in the news, including the Los Angeles area. Five days later, I went to the site of that abandoned warehouse, with the smokestains still singed around the borders of the windows.

I still remember the stench of the the burned areas all around. Within minutes of our arrival at the scene, a yound lady named Choda arrived, in tears. Her husband Deandre Mitchell was one of the five victims. He had a nickname "Jokerface", and that's all that the LA Times article reported.

Honoring the Loss
of the Westlake Five

This sudden encounter helped capture the tragedy of these terrible crimes. Foreign nationals break into our country, commit repeat offenses, receive little punishment, then reoffend.

What happens when they murder our citizens? Yes, they get caught, convicted, incarcerated. However, we the taxpayers have to shoulder the costs of their room and board in our country.

What's worse, aside from the report published by the LA Times, the press will not report that these scum are illegal aliens!

In this report, the DA's office announced that they won't pursue the death penalty against this evil man:

POSTED BY CONTRIBUTING EDITOR ON JUNE 13, 2018 IN CRIME | 76 VIEWS |

Prosecutors announced Wednesday that they won’t seek the death penalty against a man charged with setting a June 2016 fire that killed five people in a vacant commercial building in the Westlake district where a group of transients were living.

From the top left corner going clockwise:
Joseph Proenneke, Dean Clemons, Tierra Stansberry, Mary Ann Davis
Deandre Mitchell featured on back of
Remembrance Project Shirt

Johnny Josue Sanchez, 23, is charged with five counts of murder for the June 13, 2016 deaths of De Andre Mitchell, Jerry Dean Clemons, Mary Ann Davis, Joseph Proenneke and Tierra Stansberry, along with two counts of attempted murder involving two people who were rescued from the burning building.

The five people were not transients themselves. Dean Clemons and Mary Ann Davis were Joseph's biological parents. They all planned to meet together in Los Angeles.

The murder charges include the special circumstance allegations of multiple murders and murder during the commission of an arson.

Special circumstances notwithstanding, the DA won't pursue the death penalty.

Authorities allege that Sanchez intentionally set the blaze because he had been involved in a dispute with another transient in the vacant building at 2411 W. Eighth St., near MacArthur Park.

One man was initially declared dead as a result of the fire, which swept through the building where homeless people had been living. Cadaver dogs and their handlers discovered the bodies of four more people “huddled up” in the ruins of the two-story structure the next day, Los Angeles Fire Department arson investigator Lance Jimenez testified at a hearing in March in which Sanchez was ordered to stand trial.

They wanted to get out, but they couldn't escape. Terrible. I can't imagine the horror which swept through their minds as the fire, or rather fires, engulfed the entire building.

The arson investigator testified that the fire had two areas of origin and that he was able to rule out the possibility that the blaze had been accidentally caused.

Sanchez was arrested that night by Los Angeles police and has remained jailed without bail.

He is due back at the downtown Los Angeles courthouse July 17 for a pretrial hearing, and could now face a maximum of life in prison without the possibility of parole if he is convicted as charged.

Final Reflection

Notice that not once did the article mention that Sanchez was an illegal alien. The report didn't even print "undocumented", even though that term is inappropriate and inefficient.

When people challenge the argument that illegal aliens commit a disproportionate number of crimes, our answer must reference how often the media and the government refuse to report the nature of these terrible crimes.

For now, it is nothing but tragedy, and the true solace that comes with justice served has become a little more elusive.

UPDATE

Robin Hvidston, the California Director for the Remembrance Project and the leader for We the People Rising, reported the following about this unfortunate update:

Deputy District Attorney Sean M. Carney was a major force behind seeking the death penalty in the case of illegal alien Johnny Josue Sanchez who killed 5 Americans.

"Deputy District Attorney Sean M. Carney said that a committee is considering the death penalty charge. He said that their office has a great record on successfully prosecuting death penalty cases when he was asked about the likelihood of a death penalty charge in the case."  October 16, 2016. It was explained repeatedly to those of  from The Remembrance Project attending the court hearings, that the death penalty would be going forward in this case.

However, Deputy DA Sean Carney was no longer on the case as of the court hearing on 1/10/18.

His understudy, Deputy  District Attorney Joy Roberts, took over the case.  Then, in June 2018, it was announced the killer of 5 Americans will not be charged with a death penalty - just life in prison without the possibility of parole.

This is a major disappointment and setback to not charge the death penalty, and does not provide justice for those 5 Americans who lost their lives.

June 19th, 2016:  News Advisory for Immediate Release

Members of pro-immigration enforcement group We the People Rising will attend the next MacArthur Park Neighborhood Council meeting.

Illegal immigration is a pressing issue hurting Americans of all backgrounds.

The recent deaths of Kathryn Steinle of San Francisco, Marcello Bisarello of Santa Ana, and now five homeless people in an abandoned Westlake building in Los Angeles should alarmcitizens throughout Los Angeles, the state of California, and the country.

We the People Rising

Two of the victims have already been identified:

Jerry Dean Clemons, 59,
Mary Ann Davis, 44,
Another man named "JokerFace" was also killed.

The Neighborhood Council meeting takes place on Monday, June 20th, 7:00pm

Johnny Sanchez, illegal alien from Honduras
set fire to building which killed five people.

“The suspect now held in custody without bail, Johnny Sanchez, is an illegal alien from Honduras who was a well-known transient in the area."

For more information, read here.

“Following a fight with another homeless person in the abandoned building on 2411 Eight Street just two blocks from the Seven Maples, Johnny Sanchez set fire to the room where his previous assailant was. The fire ended up engulfing the building within. Five people were killed, and nearly 150 fire-fighters had to come onto the scene to control the fire.

"Sanchez should have never been in the country in the first place. He had three prior arrests, and ICE had kept tabs on him, but noting else! Why was he not removed as soon as he was first captured in 2012?!"

MacArthur Park/Westlake Area, Los Angeles

Schaper continued: “This lax attitude toward illegal immigration is endangering our communities and people's lives. It has to stop, and more people in Los Angeles and throughout the state need to take charge of this situation and demand enforcement of our immigration laws!"

LA Times Reports on Westlake Fire Set By an ... Illegal Alien!

In the previous post, we learned about a devastating fire which claimed five lives.

The Los Angeles Times the reported that the perpetrartor, Johnny Josue Sanchez, is an illegal alien from Honduras.

A Honduran citizen charged with murdering five homeless people in an arson fire was in the United States illegally and had been arrested three times in the months before the blaze in a vacant Westlake building where transients were squatting, officials said Friday.

Three times!

Johnny Josue Sanchez, 21, started the fire to avenge a beating he took in a dispute over occupying a room in the building, a law enforcement source said.

Incredible. The destruction eating up Los Angeles has gone from bad to worse.

Sanchez was among a group of people arrested by border patrol agents in 2012 for illegally entering the country at the southeastern California border, officials said. He was released a week later after agents determined that he had no previous immigration violations or criminal history, officials said.

He broke the law! He was in the country illegally! What more was needed?! He should have been deported immediately.

Parties, fights and trash fires: Signs of trouble seen weeks before arson at Westlake apartment

Sanchez was placed under supervision and ordered to report regularly to immigration authorities, though for “unknown reasons” deportation proceedings were never begun, said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Virginia Kice.

DACA, perhaps?

He quit reporting to immigration officials in August 2014, Kice said, adding that the agency’s policy is “to focus on individuals who pose a public safety threat” and not search for those who fail to report unless they have a criminal background or a history of repeated illegal entry.

Wow. "only those who pose a public threat." Do we have to wait for more innocent citizens to die before our country, our state starts enforcing the immigration laws?

ICE generally does not issue requests to law enforcement to hold people like Sanchez who are in the country without legal authorization but have no criminal history, Kice said.

He had a criminal history the moment he entered the country illegally. How can anyone miss this?

The Los Angeles Police Department arrested Sanchez in January on suspicion of domestic violence, and again in May and June on suspicion of drug possession -- most recently on June 8, days before Monday’s blaze. He was released the next day.

He had committed numerous crimes. And yet the local police continued letting him go.

The Los Angeles Police Department stopped honoring immigration holds in 2014 unless a warrant is issued or a judge has vetted the request.  Federal officials at the time warned the policy could lead to the release of dangerous criminals, but police said it would build community trust and encourage citizens to report crime.

This disregard for the rule of law must cease. These crimes demonstrate an utter contempt for our country's safety and security.

Sanchez now faces murder and attempted murder charges, which could bring the death penalty. The fire came as city officials struggle to identify funding to house a growing homeless population, and street encampments stretching from the Tujunga Wash to San Pedro.

Notice how the Los Angeles Times focuses on the homelessness issue, but nothing about the lax border security as a key factor in these murders.

At several tent cities around Westlake, near MacArthur Park, homeless people said they and other friends had been holing up for months in the abandoned building, a former medical and acupuncture clinic, to sleep and use drugs. The fire was a chilling reminder of the hazards they face living in the streets, several said.

Abandoned buildings, high rents, difficult costs of living.

A sluggish economy, bad fiscal policies, lack of development.

And illegal immigration all sparked a terrible tragedy in Westlake.

“I don’t go in abandoned buildings; I don’t trust them,” said one woman, who gave her name only as “Honey Bunny.” “But when it comes to being homeless, there’s a certain desperation. Some people make it in tents, other people have to be inside, whether it’s to hide what they’re doing or just to say they have a place to live.”

Acquaintances and law enforcement sources said Sanchez confronted a transgender squatter who entered part of the building he considered his territory. After being beaten by the squatter. Sanchez became enraged and set several fires near his room, the sources said. Sanchez’s assailant and a companion escaped through a window, but five other homeless people — three men and two women — died as fire engulfed the building, authorities said.

Now transgenderism features in this urban horror, too? And this "transgender" beat up Sanchez.

Jerry Dean Clemons, 59, and Mary Ann Davis, 44, were found in a back room on the building’s second floor, and died either from smoke inhalation or by being crushed when the roof collapsed, authorities said. The bodies of another man and woman were also found in the room.

A close relative said Davis and Clemons were from Ottumwa, Iowa, a town of 26,000, and had come to Los Angeles just days before the fire to join her son. The son was tentatively named as a fire victim based on his ID card, but authorities are awaiting dental records for a positive identification.

Fallen debris blocked escape for a fifth person who burned to death in a hallway, authorities said. The person remained unidentified Friday.

Let this moral insanity sink in. Why do we have illegals wandering around in broad daylight then committing crimes at night in Los Angeles?

Homeless people in the neighborhood said they were mourning one of the arson victims, a Watts native they called “Jokerface” because of his broad smile.

“Jokerface was a very good-hearted person, very outgoing and very loud,” said Sahara McFadden, 30, who sometimes cared for his gray pit bull, Gucci.

These homeless people were ... people. They were in need. The city needed to do something more than ignore the rule of law.

McFadden said she had used drugs with Jokerface in the abandoned building in the days leading up to the fire.

At the site, purple bandannas were tied cowboy-style around a pole, a hand-made “RIP Jokeface” poster was decorated with grape clusters and loose grapes were scattered on the sidewalk, an apparent reference to the victim’s roots on Grape Street in Watts.

“I will remember him as laughing and joking with me, not as what happened,” Honey Bunny said. “I wouldn’t wish what he went through on anybody.”

Wake up, Los Angeles! Wake up, California! WAKE UP, AMERICA!

ABC 7 on Westlake Fire on Eighth Street

If the problems connected with illegal immigration have not enraged you now, then consider what happened in the Westlake section of Los Angeles last week.

This is an untenable tragedy.

Just awful. Check out the ABC 7 report:

HOMELESS MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER FOR WESTLAKE FIRE THATKILLED 5

A 21-year-old homeless man was arrested on suspicion of starting a fire that killed five people at a vacant two-story building in the Westlake district Monday night. (KABC)

By ABC7.com staff
Wednesday, June 15, 2016 03:51PM
LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A 21-year-old homeless man was charged with capital murder on Wednesday for allegedly setting a fire in a Westlake district building that killed five people, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said.

Capital murder. Sanchez could face the death penalty!

Prosecutors are asking that Johnny Josue Sanchez be held without bail. They say he set the fire Monday night in a vacant commercial building at 2411 W. Eighth St. after getting into a dispute with other transients at the site.

Los Angeles is struggling with homelessness, urban blight, and illegal immigration. Now these problems erupted in flames altogether in Westlake.

These open border policies are killing people! Loved ones are dying, the homeless have no protection, and no one in the city of Los Angeles leadership seems to care!

It took 147 firefighters more than two hours to attack the flames at the vacant 14,351 square-foot building, which did not have working sprinklers, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Read that again. 147 fire-fighters. This crime destroyed a building, killed five people, and diverted am extensive number of fire fighting forces away from other damaged areas or potential fires in the city.

And who is paying for all of this?!

Firefighters rescued several people from the building, including Sanchez, and transported them to a local hospital.

Five people died, but the killer survived, as did other  people.

One person was found dead immediately at the scene and four more were found the next day by detection dogs. All five victims were believed to be transients.

Transients are people, too. No one should have to die because of such wanton criminality!

Two of the victims were identified as Jerry Dean Clemons, 59, and Mary Ann Davis, 44. One female and two male victims have not been identified.

More to come on this pressing, distressing fire!

May 22, 2017: The Remembrance Project at Senator De Leon's Office

After the court hearing for Johnny Sanchez, The Remembrance Project paid a visit to Senator Kevin De Leon's district office in Echo Park:

As Remembrance Project volunteers, we stuck to a very clear set of points and principles.

We drove over to his office as uickly and as uietly

Arriving at the district office, we met with one of the staffers. Instead of disrespect and disregard, the staffer did listen to us:

And here's the full video of the Remembrance Project visit and presentation in Kevin De Leon's Office:

Reflection:

Why did the Remembrance Project go out of its way to pay a surprise visit to State Senator Kevin De Leon?

1. He is the author of SB 54, the sanctuary state bill, which will all but assure more deaths like those of the Westlake Five:

2. His insensitivy to this issue mandates that we put a human face on illegal immigration.

3. The murders occured in De Leon's district.

4. DeAndre Mitchell, one of the five killed in the fire, was a constituent of De Leon.

5. To this day, Senator De Leon has issued no public statement denouncing the savage murder of five Americans in his district at the hands of an illegal alien.

Janice and Janet
Illegal immigration is not a victimless crime. Period.

Check out Robin Hvidston giving De Leon's staffer a picture of DeAndre Mitchell, one of the five Americans killed by illegal alien Johnny Sanchez in the abandoned warehouse:

She then gave to the staffer a copy of the letter from US Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, to get answers about the ilelgal aliens and the death of five Americans.

Last time, members of We the People Rising (who also serve with the Remembrance Project), were met with disrespect and hostility. The staffers even called the police on the constituents

This time, the reception was more cordial:

Here are a few other members of the Remembrance Project, with the uilts to commemorate mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters murdered by illegal aliens:

The staffer listened to different members of the Remembrance Project Team, too

Final Reflection

The staffer was polite, but showed herself to be annoyed.

She had no interest in really taking charge of the issues afflicting the district and the state.

The Remembrance Project has taken every possible step to hold elected officials accountable. They took an oath to uphold and defend the United States Constitution. This oath includes respecting the integrity of our nation's borders and cooperation with federal authorities.

De Leon's pet bill SB 54 would undermine this oath of office--and endanger countless lives in the state of California.

We do not need one more face added the Remembrance Project legacy.

Let's rather remember that the United States is the greatest country in the world, and We the People have every right for our borders to be secured.

May 22, 2017: Courthouse Hearing for the Westlake-MacArthur Park Five

The Remembrance Project attends the court hearings for illegal aliens who have murdered American citizens in our country.

They take the time and effort to ensure that every American citizen is not forgotten, even if the federal and state governments refuse to keep track of illegal aliens in our country and refuse to comply with and enforce our nation's immigration laws.

Over the past two years, since I met Robin Hvidston, the California Director of the Remembrance Project, I did not have time to join the rest of her team in court hearings in Los Angeles County.

On May 22, I finally had the chance.

Ever since I learned about the terrible fire set by Honduran illegal alien Johnny Sanchez, I wanted to ensure justice for Tierra Stansberry, DeAndre Mitchell and the other three Americans killed in the fire:

Here are the five victims murdered in the fire set by an illegal alien:

And here's the evil creep who killed these five Americans:

The hearing took place at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center, and it was clear to me that the courthouse is packed on any given day. The outside of the building and the corridors throughout the court house are pretty old, but the court chambers are state of the art.

It was surprising to me to enter Department 30, where the next preliminary hearing was held, and to find pew-like benches instead of individal seats. The court was not overflowing with people, which is a good thing, I suppose, From the outset, the deputy sheriffs on site instructed everyone to put their phones away and turn them off. No exeptions.

It's a very tightly-run event, and sometimes the Remembrance Project volunteers have to stay until the afternoon before the suspect is brought up for the hearing.

This morning, we were fortunate enough for the case against Johnny Sanchez to come up very early.

The next preliminary hearing, with all the evidence presented for trial, will not be until late July.

In the meantime, the deputy district attorney met with us in the courthouse hallway:

Robin helped connect DeAndre's mother with the Deputy DA.

Then we went outside:

Reflection:

This is terrible.

Five Americans murdered in their own country by an illegal alien.

The crime occured in June 2016. It's been a  year, and a trial still has not been set yet. It took one year just for the deputy DA to collect the autopsy reports about the deaths.

Another preliminary hearing is coming up in July?!

Indeed, the wheels of justice move slowly in Los Angeles County. In the meantime, the taxpayers are feeding and clothing the illegal alien, all while homeless, veterans, the mentally ill, and other at-risk groups struggle to survive. Homeowners and taxpayers are moving out of a county which is more dedicated to the needs of illegal aliens, while American citizens do not feel safe in their own communiities.

Thankfully, Deputy DA Roberts is on the case. Let's just hope that justice will be served as soon as possible, and that Donald Trump builds that wall as soon as possible!

Los Angeles Mayoral Candidate David Hernandez: "As Mayor, I Will End the Sanctuary City Policy"

Pro-legal immigration activist, radio host, and small business owner David Hernandez is running for mayor of Los Angeles.

David Hernandez

If there is any city that needs better angels, it's Los Angeles, a massive municipality overrun with corruption, waste, incompetence ... and pandering to illegal immigration.

One of the most horrendous cases of illegal immigration that I experience took place in the Westlake District. An illegal alien transient named Johnny Sanchez was living in the abandoned warehouse. In retaliation against another squatter, Sanchez set the warehouse on fire.

He ended up murdering five people, four from Iowa, and one homeless man named DeAndre Mitchell, who rushed into to try and save the lives of the other four in the building.

Tierra Stansberry

From Left to Right...
Jerry Clemons, 59, Mary Ann Davis, 44, Joseph Proennke (Williams), 24,  Deandre Mitchell, 36
This is only one of many horrific crimes committed in Los Angeles as a result of the immoral, devastating sanctuary city policy.

Instead of rescinding the policy and submitting to the federal government, pro-illegal mayor Eric Garcetti has sworn to double down on protecting the illegal aliens in the City of Angels, whatever the cost and whatever the price, even if it means the death of more Americans:

Unlike the current crop of elected officials in Los Angeles City and County, Mayoral Candidate David Hernandez vows to end this senseless violence and brazen lawlessness.

The City of Los Angeles Will Co-Operate with the Federal Government

Illegal Alien Criminals will be turned over to Immigration Authorities.

As the City and County of Los Angeles scramble to divert millions of dollars of tax payer monies into a fund to defend illegal Alien Criminals, one candidate for Mayor of Los Angeles vows to take a different course of action.

David Hernandez, a longtime advocate for Legal Immigration, believes circumstances demand that we co-operate with the Federal Government in having Illegal Alien Criminals, who are in the City of Los Angeles, removed from our city.

The continuing dramatic increase in Violent Crime in Los Angeles, up nearly 40% since 2014, as well as the decrease in arrests and convictions during the same period, down almost 9%, clearly demonstrates that we, as a city, must use all resources at our disposal in combating the threat to Public Safety.

The California Trust Act, passed by Sacramento politicians, limits the actions of local law enforcement in holding Illegal Aliens who have been arrested for committing crimes. Hernandez believes we can and will work within the bounds of the Trust Act, and succeed in reducing the criminal element by as much as 10%, if not more, in the City of Los Angeles.

An American of Mexican descent ,running for Mayor of Los Angeles, Hernandez definitively states that this is strictly an issue of Public Safety, not one of race. Those who are in the city without documentation and have not committed any crimes need not be concerned.

David Hernandez, Candidate for Mayor

But those who are in the City of Los Angeles without documentation and commit a Felony or a series of Misdemeanors will be dealt with to the fullest extent of the Law. They will be made available to Immigration Services in an effort to help preserve Public Safety in all communities in Los Angeles.

With the passage of State Propositions such as 47 and 57, and Realignment efforts such as AB109, in addition to the number of former Felons being released into our communities, we have seen a sky rocketing number of property crimes and homelessness in Los Angeles.

Given the overcrowding in county jails, we must make room in our prison system to house criminals legally here in the United States. As no more detainment facilities are being built, we must take advantage of the avenues available to us in assisting those tasked with our Public Safety.

Hernandez states that, “No normal person would want anyone with a track record of committing crimes living in their community, if they can help it.”

A press conference is scheduled for Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 10:00 AM on the south steps of the Los Angeles City Hall, 200 North Spring St., Los Angeles, CA.

Illegal Alien Burned Down Westlake Building, Killed Five People

In Los Angeles, California, one of the largest sanctuary cities in the country, an illegal alien named Johnny Sanchez--a native of Honduras) was living on the street, apparently working as an informant with the local police (who should have turned him over to ICE by then), and was committing crimes himself.

ICE was not doing its job.

They were following him, interviewing him, and then lost track of him.

How could any of this happened?

We do not have secure borders. All of these travesties of lawlessness must cease.

Then I read about Sanchez' setting a building on fire, which killed five people.

I had to visit the site of this terrible crime myself.

2411 8th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90057

When We the People Rising  arrived at the scene, the stench of the burned building still lingered there.

A homeless drifter walked by. He claimed that seven people died in the fire, not five.

Then a young lady approached the building. She was crying, in pain, hurting.

Why?

Her husband, known to the locals as "Jokerface", died in that fire.

Five homeless died in that fire, according to current reports.

Does anyone care? Is anyone going to do anything about this travesty of injustice?

We the People Rising intended to ensure that the memory of those five people would not be lost.

The young lady told us that her husband's name was DeAndre Mitchell. Residents and neighbors set up a memorial for Mitchell and the other four killed in that terrible fire.

Here are the names of the other victims:

1. Deandre Mitchell (Jokerface), 36

2. Jerry Clemons, 59

3. Mary Ann Davis, 44. Jerry Clemons and Mary Ann Davis were a couple from Ottumwa, Iowa.

4. Son of Mary Ann Davis.

5. A 5th female victim has not been identified (possibly a lady named "Felony".

Illegal immigration is not a victimless crime.

Not at all.

After our vigil, We the People Rising visited the Seven Maples Senior Housing Complex on 7th street.

Our intentions. To meet with the members of the MacArthur Park Neighborhood Council, and demand accountability from the representatives in this region.

No citizen should fear for his safety in Los Angeles, or anywhere.

When we arrived at the complex, we found an empty and locked community room.

The website had advertised a Neighborhood Council meeting

How many more have to die before our country takes secure borders seriously?

How many crimes, how much more lawlessness will residents in California and throughout the country put up with until we have proper leadership that will stop illegal immigration and enforce the law?

An illegal - with a record of domestic abuse and drug charges - Johnny Josue Sanchez of Honduras killed 5 Americans, on 6/13/16 when he set an intentional fire at an abandoned L.A. building.

CA members of The Remembrance Project were present at his court hearing at the Los Angeles County Superior Court on 5/22/17.

Johnny Josue Sanchez was led into the prison box of the courtroom, wearing the navy blue jail jumpsuit.  He requires a Spanish interpreter. There was a brief exchange between Deputy District Attorney Joy Roberts and the Public Defender Victor Patterson, the attorney for the illegal.

Judge Mark Hanasono was the presiding judge.

Deputy District Attorney Joy Roberts met with the CA members of The Remembrance Project after the hearing.

SOME GOOD NEWS!
After a delay of almost one year, the coroner's office finally completed the autopsy report, which indicates the case can move forward to the preliminary hearing phase.

The next court hearing will be on  7/17/17. Deputy District Attorney Joy Roberts stated that the preliminary hearing may go forward in September 2017. She said that Detective King is focused upon and dedicated to working on the case.

The mother of Deandre Mitchell, one of the five Americans killed, called during the impromptu meeting with the district deputy attorney and participated via the cell phone.
