Rep. Tom McClintock: In Defense of Governor Newsom

Rep. Tom McClintock (R-Roseville) took to the floor of the House of Representatives to praise--yes, PRAISE--Governor Newsom for violating his own COVID-19 edicts, orders, and lockdowns when he went to the French Laundry restaurant and dined with 20 other people, no masks, no social distancing, and no fear about catching or passing on COVID-19 to someone else.

The hypocrisy of these arrogant government elites sparked Rep. Tom McClintock to actually praise the Governor for doing what every American should be able to do: take care of themselves, live their lives, practice common sense, and not allow the overbearing regulations about COVID-19 weigh down on their lives.

Read his speech below, and let us all do what Governor Newsom did and live our lives as we see fit!

In Defense of Governor Newsom

November 19, 2020
Speeches
Congressman McClintock delivered the following remarks on the House floor:

In Defense of Governor Newsom
November 19, 2020

Mr. Speaker:

I rise this morning in defense of Governor Gavin Newsom who recently defied his own idiotic Covid edicts as he partied at one of the few restaurants that he has not yet forced out of business.  I defend him because he was doing what we all once did in a free society: make our own decisions over what risks we are willing to run and what precautions we are willing to take according to our own circumstances to protect our own health.

Yes, Covid is a nasty bug and a quarter of a million Americans have died while having it.  But this isn’t the Bubonic Plague.  The CDC’s best estimate is that if you are under 49, your chance for surviving Covid – it you get it – is 99.92 percent.  Even for those over 70 the survival rate is 94.6 percent.

Forty percent who get it don’t even know they have it.  Yet we have allowed our officials to ruin our quality of life over it – destroying countless businesses, throwing tens of millions into unemployment, robbing our children of their educations and shredding our most cherished rights as Americans.

Governor Newsom’s night of partying should be a wake-up call to every American.

Every time we step outside our homes, the risks we face multiply.  A free society assumes that its citizens are competent to assess those risks, balance them against the avoidance costs, and to manage their decisions in a generally responsible way.  It’s called common sense, and it’s a necessary prerequisite for self-government and liberty.

The choices of an octogenarian with emphysema might be very different from those of a healthy governor in California.  Only a fool would claim the omniscience to make an informed judgment for every person in every circumstance in every community.  Sadly, this crisis has revealed that fools abound in public office and that a fool with power can quickly become a petty tyrant.

Which brings us back to Governor Newsom.  These government nannies love to tell us that they’re just following the science.  What does the science tell us?  It tells us that Covid poses virtually no risk to children but can be severe among the elderly.  So, what did these lockdown leftists do?  They closed all the schools and ordered infected patients into nursing homes!

The science tells us that outdoor transmissions of the virus are extremely rare and that 80 percent of infections occur in people’s homes.  So what did these lockdown leftists do?  They closed our beaches, parks and campgrounds and ordered people to stay at home!

The science tells us that obesity is a contributing factor to the severity of the disease.  So what did these lockdown leftists do?  They closed all the gyms and kept the liquor stores open!

These lockdowns haven’t saved lives.  The states with the most stringent lockdowns generally have the highest mortality rates from Covid.  Utah stayed open while next door, Colorado shut down.  Utah currently has half the Covid mortality rate and 3/4 the unemployment rate as Colorado.  But the lockdowns have cost countless lives from suicides, drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence, and deferred health screenings and treatments.

Recently, Governor Newsom demanded that restaurant diners replace their masks after every bite, but also minimize the times they take them off.  I guess that means take very big bites.  Thanksgiving dinners are allowed in California, but only when they are held outside, guests are seated six feet apart, and they last no more than two hours.  It’s all right to use the bathroom, but only if it is frequently sanitized. Otherwise, presumably you’ll just have to use the bushes.  And for God’s sake – NO SINGING!

I have wondered how much longer the American people are going to tolerate this nonsense?

So let us not criticize Governor Newsom.  Perhaps he has just offered us all deliverance from his own folly.

Nor should we criticize the California legislators who ignored travel and quarantine restrictions to junket to Hawaii.  Nor should we ridicule Speaker Pelosi for choosing not to wear a mask in a hair salon that was forced to close for the rest of us.

Good for them.  They’re demonstrating by their own actions the freedom that every American citizen needs to reclaim from these very same people.  The governor SHOULD make his own decisions about running his own life.  I only ask that he and his ilk would stop telling the rest of us how to run ours.

Tax Reform Passes the House: Who Voted Against It?

Once again, the House of Representatives is getting busy, and they have passed a comprehensive tax reform bill.

Here are the key factors in the bill which direct toward lowering costs and lowering taxes for American citizens (CBS News reports):

Here's what the House version of the measure would do:

  • Corporate tax rate would be cut from 35 percent to 20 percent;
  • It nearly doubles the standard deduction -- from $6,350 to $12,000 for individuals and $12,700 to $24,000 for married couples;
  • The child tax credit would be expanded from $1,000 to $1,600, and the child and dependent care tax credit would be continue at $300;
  • The home mortgage interest deduction would be capped at $500,000;
  • It eliminates the Alternative Minimum tax;
  • The bill also eliminates the Estate tax

Here are the Republicans who voted against the bill:

• Rep. Dan Donovan (New York)
• Rep. John Faso (New York)

• Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (New Jersey)
• Rep. Darrell Issa (California)
• Rep. Walter Jones (North Carolina)
• Rep. Peter King (New York)
• Rep. Leonard Lance (New Jersey)
• Rep. Frank LoBiondo (New Jersey)
• Rep. Tom McClintock (California)
• Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (California)
• Rep. Chris Smith (New Jersey)
• Rep. Elise Stefanik (New York)
• Rep. Lee Zeldin (New York)

The vast majority of the voters represent constituents in high-tax blue states. The House Bill removes deductions for state taxes, and because the state incomes taxes are so high, the argument follows that these blue state residents will end up with a higher tax burden.

Yet Stephen Moore spoke to this concern at the October 2017 CAGOP Convention in Anaheim:

The biggest takeaway? The federal income tax rates were coming down much lower, which would allow for savings on that end, even if there was no longer an state income tax deduction.

Three Republicans in the California delegation voted against the bill, all citing the removal of the deduction for stateincome taxes.

I contacted Congressman Dana Rohrabacher's office, since I was surprised that he had voted against the legislation, though. His staffers informed me that he had received a large volume of calls in opposition to the bill, and therefore he decided to vote against it. I guess all the calls from the Indivisible Movement are having an unprecedented impact after all.

Tom McClintock and Darrell Issa had decided against the legislation for the same reasons.

Walter Jones was a unique stand-out in the list, as well. His press release indicated his concerns with the growing national debt, and that tax reform would end up increasing the deficits and put the national security at risk because of continued borrowing.

SacBee Fail: McClintock Faced Off (And Won!) Against MoveOn.org Puppets

Fellow blogger Aaron Park had written about this total media fail in Northern California.

But I wanted to add my $20 to the discussion.

Congressman Tom McClintock (R-Roseville)

McClintock exits with police escort after raucous town hall meeting in Roseville

What the regressive Left is doing now is nothing more than more hateful empty protesting.

They are trying to take over town halls sponsored by key lawmakers--especially in California--to give the impression that they are deeply unpopular in their districts in this blue state.

Despite what happened to Darrell Issa in his Southern OC District, the rest of the GOP delegation in California fared pretty well. The districts they represent have retained their redness, for what it is worth.

Now, check out what the Sacramento Bee wrote about a Tom  McClintock Town hall in Roseville:

Facing a packed auditorium and raucous crowd, Republican Rep. Tom McClintock on Saturday defended his party’s national agenda and voiced strong support for President Donald Trump’s controversial executive actions to scale back Obamacare, ban visitors from seven predominantly Muslim countries and build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

“Vote him out,” hundreds of demonstrators chanted outside the Tower Theatre in downtown Roseville, the Republican-heavy population center of McClintock’s sprawling congressional district. Inside the theater, more than 200 people gathered for a town-hall event hosted by McClintock.

The location of the event should spell out very clearly ... not that Roseville voters are tired of McClintpck, but rather that the protesters are not from Roseville1

Attendees, some carrying signs that read “Resist,” “Dump Tom McTrump” and “Climate change is real,” pressed McClintock to denounce Republican plans to repeal the Affordable Care Act, acknowledge the science supporting the human causes of climate change, and oppose Trump’s executive order temporarily restricting refugee admissions to the U.S.

"Climate change is real" -- how original - and very sad!

I guess all the SJW groups are getting really worn out. All their public displays of anger, abuse, and property damage aren't working anymore.

The act is getting old and tired, boring and unbearable.

Of course, the reliable liberal media in Sacramento hasn't' seen the light, and they are still playing the anti-GOP pro-Democratic news narrative.

“I believe that order is constitutional,” said McClintock, one of several comments that elicited boos at the hourlong event.

People booed? Oh my goodness! (*Yawn*)

McClintock’s visit drew hundreds of people, most of whom had come to express opposition to the new administration. Many identified themselves as liberal Democrats and progressives, while party registration in McClintock’s district – which incorporates all or part of 10 counties spanning from Tahoe to Yosemite – is solidly Republican.

Thank you again, SacBee, for undermining the very narrative you are trying to string out. McClintock stood his ground against George Soros and MoveOn.org puppets, nothing more.

Move on!

“This is really all about resisting the Trump agenda,” said Wendy Wood, chairwoman of Indivisible Sierra Nevada, a local chapter of a political organization formed in response to the election. “Most of us have never participated in political activism of any sort. Something is happening here, and people here are not happy with (Trump) and McClintock. We’re here to vote them out.”

LOL! Very funny. Darrell Issa got a wake-up call because he doesn't respond or interact with his cosntitutients enough. McClintock will be just fine.

Roseville police and fire officials capped attendance inside the theater at roughly 200 people. Those left outside voiced frustration about being locked out of the theater, some saying they had driven for hours simply to see McClintock face to face.

You want to know why you were locked out of the theater, razor-blade snowflakes? Because we have laws and building codes, and the fire marshal ensures that only a set number are allowed in a building at one time.

Oakland should have enforced their own laws, too--then all of those people would not have died in that make-shift party scene in an abandoned warehouse.

“We just wanted to be able to ask questions of our representative and share our thoughts on key issues,” wrote Lauren Lake in an email. “I drove hours over a snowy pass to be there … we were told that the venue was at capacity and no one else would be allowed in.”

This is not newsworthy, SacBee. Media Fail!

Inside the theater, McClintock took about a dozen audience questions. Some of the most passionate comments came from people who said they feared losing access to health care if Republicans press forward to repeal the Affordable Care Act without a clear replacement.

Obamacare is not health care, people. It has hurt the health care and health insurance industries. Please, stop with the rote talking points. They are not working. While you are waiting, why not go after the Sacramento Democrats who thought it was OK to add millions of illegals to the welfare roles, including subsidized health ... insurance!

“What do you expect seniors and people with disabilities with low income to do if you take away our Medicare and Medicaid that we rely on to literally stay alive?” asked Amanda Barnes, who said she was paralyzed from her waist down after a hit-and-run accident in a crosswalk five years ago.

So dramatic! It sounds like the members of the audience were coached to say what they were saying.

How about taking a visit down to Loyalton, CA? There, you will meet four retireed employees who witnessed their pensions getting cut. If there is no comprehensive entitlement reforms soon, expect all the benefits to get cut ... for good!

McClintock said his party did not yet have a replacement plan, but that there were several Republican-backed proposals still taking shape.

They have several plans. First, though, just repeal the whole thing.

Do not "Frankenstein" health care, Republicans!

“The answer is a comprehensive bill that rescinds Obamacare in its entirety, and replaces it with reforms that put the patient back in charge of their own decisions, and give them the widest possible range of choices,” McClintock said. “And assure it’s within financial reach for the majority of Americans.”

Yes!

The response drew shouts of disappointment, as did his comments on climate change.
“In any scientific arena, you are seeing a very vigorous debate over the extent to which man-made carbon dioxide emissions are causing global warming,” McClintock said. “Whether or not we destroy our economy for our children, our planet is going to continue to warm and cool as it has for billions of years.”

Tom McClintock is a stud! He has the courage to stand up to these raging leftists and tell it like it is!

Newsflash -- he was my choice for Govenror in 2003, not Arnold Schwarz-a-house-keeper.

I wish he would think about another bid. McClintock has fought and won many battles in this state/

Many in attendance expressed general disappointment with Trump and called on McClintock to distance himself from recent executive actions, including Trump’s orders scaling back bank regulations and temporarily restricting U.S. entry for refugees as well as visitors from seven predominantly Muslim nations.

“I am terrified about Mr. Trump’s behavior. I literally haven’t slept,” said Jill Ruffman, 58, of Granite Bay. She criticized McClintock and Trump for supporting a House vote to undo an Obama administration rule that required the Social Security Administration to disclose information about disabled recipients with mental illness to the national gun background check system.

Jill Ruffman needs to ... grow up.

And hurrah for McClintock protecting the Second Amendment rights of retirees!

“I understand you do not like Donald Trump,” McClintock told the crowd at one point. “I sympathize with you. There have been elections where our side has lost. … Just a word of friendly advice: Remember that there were many people in America who disagreed and feared Barack Obama just as vigorously as you disagree with and fear Donald Trump.”

THAT'S RIGHT!

McClintock handled the crowds
like a BOSS!
Several times he thanked the audience for the discourse, even if they disagreed.

Here you witness the fundamental difference between Republicans and Democrats. Republicans can respect people even if we disagree with their ideas. Democrats want to savage people who disagree with them and demonize them for disagreement.

The event also drew Trump supporters, including David Ramsey, who said he volunteered for McClintock’s 2008 campaign and gleefully voted for Trump in November.

“President Trump is doing what he said he was going to do,” Ramsey said. “I like what he’s talking about – securing our borders and vetting immigrants. Hopefully, he’ll lower taxes and reduce big government and regulation. Tom McClintock is a conservative who believes in those same principles.”

YAY! Me too!

McClintock left the theater at 11 a.m., immediately after the town hall concluded, escorted by police as he waded through a thick crowd of protesters who trailed him, shouting, “This is what Democracy looks like.”

McClintock was not "escorted" as though he was in mortal danger. PLEASE!

Final Reflection

The Sacramento Bee is abuzz about any business that will make Republicans look bad and promote Democrats and the liberal phalanx in the state of California.

They wrote a trite sob story about the gay enrollee at William Jessup university, even though his behavior had gone public because of a domestic violence altercation with his boyfriend in their apartment.

So much for "Love Trumps Hate" huh?

What is surprising, though, about the report above was how SacBee outed their bias and undermined the chronic media narrative.

McClintock was not chased out from a town hall. He stood his ground against SJWs who did not even live in the district to begin with.

Here's another point: how many Congressional Democrats are hosting town halls right now? Congressman Ted Lieu (D-Torrance, Los Angeles) throws out a forum by telephone every few months, but refuses to actually face constituents.

And he's  military officer?

Shameful!

GOP: Show Some Spine, Repeal Obamacare NOW!

The Republicans in Washington did the unthinkable, especially in the United States Senate as well as in the White House.

The pundits not only believed that Hillary Clinton would win the White House, but they were pretty sure that the Democrat would gain a slim majority in the United States Senate.

Neither happened.

In fact, Republicans now have a solid majority in both chambers, and are looking forward to expanding their power in 2018, especially now that Trump is fulfilling many of his campaign promises, and the economy is growing faster than expected.

Republicans in Congress, however, are struggling with what to do with their new-found success.

The biggest problem they face? How to repeal and replace Obamacare.

Check out this private conversation which signaled their fears of the consequences. Click here.

Here is Daily Signal's take (with some of my responses)"

Republicans Express Doubts Over Obamacare ‘Repeal andReplace’ Plan

Some Republican lawmakers are beginning to have doubts about the GOP’s plans to repeal and replace Obamacare, they revealed in a closed-door gathering Thursday in Philadelphia.

Perhaps this is conversation which we should have out in the open.

But those lawmakers find themselves at odds with conservatives who have for years pushed for repeal of the Affordable Care Act—as well as the top Republican in the House.

Finally, the Speaker of the House is in league with the conservative caucus. They have not always seen eye-to-eye on key issues.

“We have to repeal it,” Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, said of Obamacare in an interview with The Daily Signal. “That’s what we told voters we’re going to do, and we have to repeal all of it. Every mandate. Every regulation.”

I agree with Congressman Jordan. The whole thing needs to be scrapped, and proper health care reform begin from scratch. Piecemeal approaches will not work without a clear and dedicated roadmap toward full repeal.

Ryan affirmed his commitment to getting rid of Obamacare:

“We have a moral obligation to fix this problem. Period,” he said.

That legislation—passed through a budget tool called reconciliation—also would include parts of a replacement.

For years, conservatives such as Jordan, who previously chaired the roughly 40-member House Freedom Caucus, have made a target of Obamacare—which Congress passed in 2010 without a single Republican vote.

Now that Republicans have the numbers to successfully repeal the health care law, Jordan is calling for Congress to move quickly.

Repeal! Repeal it now,. Yes, it will cause pain early on. But the hemorrhaging is bad already, and will get much worse as the economic burden and moral laxity of this terrible law continues.

“I want to do it as soon as we possibly can, because I start from the very fundamental premise that health care will be better and cost less when Obamacare is gone,” the Ohio Republican said. “So let’s get rid of it as quickly as we can.”

Despite a commitment to repealing Obamacare in coming weeks, some Republicans are skeptical that ending taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, should be included in that action.

This is the most frustrating part of this whole debate.

I have no problem with defunding Planned Parenthood separately from the legislation.

The abortion mill which masquerades as a low-income health care facility needs to go.

That provision was part of the bill Republicans sent to President Barack Obama’s desk early last year to roll back major provisions of Obamacare.

Obama vetoed that bill. But with Republican control of both chambers of Congress and the White House, conservatives are pushing for the new repeal bill to at a minimum mirror the legislation passed last year.

Republicans better find a way to ensure Obamacare goes to hell and does not come back from the dead.

The replacement aspect can come into play within two months.

Repeal is necessary, though, and the candy-ass approach offered by US Senator Bill Cassidy and Susan Collins is wholly unacceptable. No state should have an exchange, since the federal government will still reuire taxpayer dollars to keep those exchanges going.

Republican governors as well as Democratic lawmakers have embraced the Medicaid expansion, which has turned out to be the "fool's bet" which Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker had called it.

The GOP House leadership needs to develop a clear narrative how the "Affordable Care Act" has become precariously unaffordable, while ruining businesses and pushing people into part-time work, or no work at all.

They should listen to some of the harrowing stories that working people have endured in California, where standard-bearer Covered California has let down millions. They lost their original health insurance and their doctors. They tried to purchase a different plan on the exchange, which turned out to be more expensive. Doctors will not accept patients with the low-return rates that the Covered California programs offer.

This bill is bad, and must be put down and shoved into the bureaucratic morgue, never to see the light of day ever again.

Republicans need to grow a spine and repeal Obamacare--every word of it.

If they want to enact programs which will protect individuals with pre-existing conditions, they should do so in separate legislation.

They should also enact these reforms right away:

I. Health Savings Accounts (HSA)

II. Permit the Purchase of Health Insurance Across State Lines

III. Remove sclerotic licensure laws

IV. End the arbitrary barriers which prevent doctors from forming limited co-ops

V. Allow more people to become doctors

VI. Restore a trade-oriented, cash-cost direct relationship between doctor and patient as much as possible

VII. Enact Tort Reform

Chicano Park Does Not Deserve Preservation: Tell Congress to Vote No On HR 3711

I have received a number of emails and updates about a key bill which may be sneaked through Congress during the lame-duck sessions.

It is called HR 3711, or more specifically: Chicano Park Preservation Act

The park is located in San Diego, CA.

Check out some photos of the area:

This photo is particularly disturbing:

Notice the Nazi swastika right in the middle of the mural.

Yes, indeed. The Chicano movement and La Raza ideology is based on neo-nazi hatred. The author and intellectual godfather of the movement, José Vasconcelos, was a Mexican with Nazi sympathies, and he wrote the Chicano movement primer La Raza Cósmica.

This is serious.

Congress should take no steps for Chicano Park to turn the location into a national monument. The area is a national disgrace!

Here is the text of Congressman Vargas' bill:

A BILL
To authorize the Secretary of the Interior to conduct a special resource study of Chicano Park, located in San Diego, California, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the “Chicano Park Preservation Act”.
SEC. 2. SPECIAL RESOURCE STUDY.
(a) Study.—The Secretary of the Interior shall conduct a special resource study of Chicano Park and its murals located in San Diego, California.
(b) Contents.—In conducting the study under subsection (a), the Secretary shall—
(1) evaluate the national significance of the site;
(2) determine the suitability and feasibility of designating the site as a National Historic Landmark or Affiliated Area of the National Park System;
(3) consider other alternatives for preservation, protection, and interpretation of Chicano Park and its murals by Federal, State, or local governmental entities, or private and nonprofit organizations;
(4) consult with interested Federal, State, or local governmental entities, private and nonprofit organizations or any other interested individuals; and
(5) identify cost estimates for any development, interpretation, operation, and maintenance associated with the alternatives.
(c) Applicable Law.—The study required under subsection (a) shall be conducted in accordance with section 100507 of title 54, United States Code, except that the study shall not consider any options that involve Federal acquisition of lands, interests in lands, or any other property related to the Chicano Park and its murals.
(d) Report.—Not later than 18 months after the date on which funds are first made available for the study under subsection (a), the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Natural Resources of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate a report containing the results of the study and any conclusions and recommendations of the Secretary
The sponsor of the legislation Congressman Juan Vargas:

Vargas represents California’s 51st Congressional District which includes the southern portion of San Diego County, all of Imperial County and California’s entire US/Mexico border.  Vargas was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2012 and is currently serving his second term in Congress.  He serves on the House Financial Services Committee and the Committee on House Administration.

Here is a statement exposing the subversive intentions of the bill:

Just when you thought the GOPe and Congress was finally getting our “America First” and secure our borders message, they go and jump in bed with Mexico/La Raza to try to put their anti-America, seditious “Chicano Park” in San Diego into the U.S. National Park system!  This bill is sponsored by Mexican loyalist Rep. Juan Vargas (D-San Diego) and other radical Marxist leftists in our Congress.  And the naïve or corrupt GOP leadership is trying to approve it for them before Trump takes office!  They are hoping no one is paying attention as we enter the holiday season.

Call your REPUBLICAN Congress member now!  Tell them to kill this bill!  Or at least vote NO.  It will only take a few Republican House members to vote yes for the radical leftist Dems to sneak this through before Congress adjourns for December starting Friday.

Update:

The bill has passed out of the House and is headed to the US Senate.

No park, no national monument should praise enemies of the United States.

The murals are decadent and despicable, referencing blood, death, hearts broken and torn--all references to the Aztec pagan sacrifices of human beings.

The murals in the park showcase Spanish conquistadores murdered or destroyed, or in skeletal form.

Here is more information to learn about what the "Chicano" movement is really about:

La Raza claims that the Southwestern United States belongs to Mexico, and that they have a stern duty to take back that portion of our country.

They also engage in cult-like, neo-pagan rituals.

There is also a virulent disdain for Anglos, or for anyone who is not Chicano.

The whole concept of this identity is based on hatred and misinformation, as well as storied propaganda forced upon Hispanic students.

Here is more

One constituent reported the following treatment from California Congressional representatives:

I have called or e-mailed a number of representatives.  The staff of a couple were sympathetic and said they would watch my video and forward the info.  Others hung up on me.

The staff of Tom McClintock, who is head of the subcommittee that approved the bill, hung up abruptly on me.  Duncan Hunter's staff was not too friendly, either.  Issa's staff said they would look at the video below.  Louie Gohmert staff person was interested enough to give me her e-mail address and tell me to send the video to her.  She said she would let Louie know about it.  Gohmert was actually one of these, who voted for it in the committee.  He may not have realized what it is about though.

Did Tom McClintock vote for this bill?!

Unbelievable! Isn't anyone paying attention to this legislation?

The last thing that any Congressman--and especially any Republican--should be doing is to vote along with legitimizing and promoting internal hatred for the United States of America. We have once again a bad case of representatives' voting for something which they have not read, or do not are about!

If you are talking to them on the phone and they are willing to look at the video, but won't give you an e-mail address, you can tell  them to search YouTube for "Chicano Park Anti-American".

The bill has passed the House.

It's headed for the United States. It's not too late to stop this legislation

There are key US Senators whom We the People can contact to stop this legislation.

Here is a partial list of pro-immigration enforcement US Senators (two who just won re-election in tight races).

Contact them and urge them to vote NO! (and filibuster)  the Chicano Park Preservation Act (HR 3711):

ICYMI: Congressman McClintock Slammed Lawless House Democrats Over Gun Control Sit-In

I have great respect for Congressman Tom McClintock (R-El Dorado Hills)

He is a gold star representative in a sea of dirt, fluff, and cowardice.

Despite what people say about California, the land of fruits and nuts, we have good people still fighting for our rights, and for what is right.

He has stood up for conservative principles, even when it seemed that those directives were not popular. He will not cave, bend, or weave toward tax increases, even when other Republicans give in.

He represented a well-known enclave along the Ventura County/Santa Barbara border for a decade.

After he was termed out, he decided to run for Congress, in Northern California, since his children had been raised in the Sacramento/Elk Grove region for the greater part of their lives.

Today, he represents a diligent conservative area in Califonia, a red state within blue California.

Perhaps he can run for Governor again--for the State of Jefferson ...

He ran for Governor of California in 2003. He exhorted all voters to vote their conscience. I did, and I am glad that he was my first choice.

Rep, Tom McClintock slams the Democrats' illegal gun control sit-in

He fought against illegal immigration, over-taxation, the destruction of marriage and family.

I encourage him to keep up the fight.

He also stands for the rule of law, something which the Democrats treat as negligible and arbitrary.

On June 22nd, 2016 the Democratic minority, like the petulant, unruly children that they are, took over the house floor, stopped all debate with an unjust, undemocratic sit-in.

The only Congressman to shame them for these outrageous antics was ... Tom McClintock.

House Rules, Or Rules for Radicals?
Congressman Tom McClintock
House of Representatives, Washington, D.C.
July 5, 2016

Mr. Speaker:

On the afternoon of June 22nd, a large number of Democrats brought the deliberations of the House of Representatives to a standstill in one of the most disgraceful and childish breaches of decorum in the history of this institution.  In complete contempt of this House and the rule of law, they shouted down all with whom they disagreed, they blocked access to the microphones as members sought to address the chair, and they illegally occupied the Hall of the House – forcing an early adjournment and costing this House three full days of legislative deliberations.

Thankfully, there are still some Democrats who have not completely lost their minds. These remaining Democrats in swing districts recognize that they cannot stomp on the Second Amendment and hope to keep their jobs during the next election.

Abraham Lincoln said it best, “There is no grievance that is a fit object of redress by mob law.”  What we saw was the mob law of Occupy Wall Street brought to the House Floor.

Indeed. The radicalization of our political process is wreaking untold harm

They are seeking to use the recent terrorist attacks as justification for making it harder for law-abiding Americans to defend themselves.  A strange logic, but so be it.  They certainly have a right to their opinions, a right to express those opinions on the House floor, and a right to use all of the procedures of the House to act on their opinions.  What they do not have is the right to prevent those with different views from exercising the same rights.  Yet that’s precisely what they did.

McClintock recognized their right to be wrong. He also criticized their wrong to take away the rights of other House members to conduct business on the House floor.

These Democratic members have many procedures and opportunities to bring their bills to the House for a vote.  They could have executed a discharge petition to bring their bill immediately to the floor.  They could have moved to have their bill inserted into any bill pending on the House Floor – a common motion that we routinely hear and vote upon several times a week.

A reminder: Congressman Mark Meadows filed a discharge petition to have Speaker John Boehner removed from his Speakership. It worked without having to gather the necessary number of signatures then. What were the Democrats really afraid of?

The fact is, their proposals were considered in the Senate and voted down.  Their proposals were considered in a House Committee and voted down.  Their discharge petition is pending at this desk right now, awaiting enough signatures to execute it.

The truth is hard for Democrats. The American people have rejected their abortive, anti-freedom ideologies. The Second Amendment has become a more protected right, and firearms more sought-after than ever before. More states are now shall-issue on concealed carry permits, too.

Their only problem is that they don’t have enough votes.  Well sorry, that’s called “democracy.” The majority of their colleagues simply disagree with them – for some very good reasons.

The illegal sit-in was all photo-op, nothing more

How ironic, that the Republican member of Congress is lecturing the "Democratic" party on democracy.

Their rights were honored and protected by the Republican majority under the rule of law.  Yet they denied those same rights to others by replacing the rule of law with the rule of the mob -- and they did so on the most sacred ground of our democratic republic – the Hall of the House of Representatives.

Mob rule is utter lawlessness. Pure and simple. The Left is not interested in justice or equity. They are interested in their will, their way, or they will make you get out of their way.

Instead of working within the time-honored rules of the House to convince the majority to their way of thinking, they decided to tear down the rules.  This was the lawless Left on full display and I hope the American people took a long hard look at it, and understand the threat to our democratic traditions and institutions that this conduct reveals.

They tore down the rules, and I imagine their numbers will be further torn down throughout the country. Democrats are getting decimated all over the country. The raw pursuit and abuse of power is putting them out of power. Even in more liberal states like Illinois and Massachusetts, Republican governors are shutting down the tax-and-spend frenzy like never before.

In recent days, we have seen other Leftist mobs assembled under a foreign flag violently attack American citizens who were merely trying to exercise their right to peaceably assemble in support their candidate for President.  We have seen this administration attempt to criminalize political dissent, and use our government to intimidate people out of participating in our political process.  And now we have watched this lawless behavior imported onto the floor of the House of Representatives.

Lawlessness, utter lawlessness has been on fully display, and it's time to stand up to it. It's time to demand that the radicals live by the rules that everyone else has to abide by, or rule them out of order.

The House leadership decided not to confront this unprecedented spectacle as it unfolded, and I do not gainsay their decision here.  It was obvious the members involved were trying to provoke a physical confrontation.

Shame on Congressman Ted Lieu (D-CA) for illegal sit-in.
Get off your butt and get to work!

But serious damage was done that day to our orderly process of government and it cannot go unchallenged.  Doing so would establish a dangerous and corrosive precedent antithetical to everything which this institution – and our country – stands for.

Shame on Speaker Paul Ryan for not rebuking the Democratic riff-raff for their unbecoming disorder. He needs to be removed, too, just like John Boehner was forced to step down last year.

The Constitution provides that the House may sanction members for disorderly behavior, and the members responsible for the events of June 22nd and 23rd must be called to account for their actions.  If we fail to do so, we will have replaced the House Rules with “Rules for Radicals.”

We are waiting, Speaker Ryan. We are waiting for you to do your job and to demand the rule of law.

Of course, Ryan is more interested in following along with the interests of Big Business and their open-borders lobby.

Final Reflection

Political correctness and Alinsky-ite shame and blame has tried to overtake our public discourse. This is shameful. This is disgraceful. Instead of playing defense and going along with all of this perversity, Republicans, conservatives, Americans of all backgrounds need to stand up to the lies and demand their rights under the Constitution.

We do not need to make nice with ideological adversaries who are bent on pandering to illegal aliens, criminal refugees, and special interests getting rich while impoverishing everyone else.

Thank you, Congressman McClintock for standing up for all our rights!

All of them - and if you ever think about running for Governor again, count on me to vote for you!
