WINNING: House GOP Leaders Reject Discharge Petition

Republican Congressional Leaders are standing their ground, opposing the discharge petition for immigration bills. I am really impressed. The leaders in Congress are starting to pay attention to their constituents and the general tone of the country on illegal immigration.

Let's not kid ourselves: 2018 is an election year, and therefore every incumbent who hopes to get re-elected and maintain their majority need to turn out legislation and policies which will help the country.

For now, let's be glad that House leaders are acting like ... leaders on the immigration issue (and don't forget to hammer the GOP hall of shame which has signed onto the discharge petition):

Yesterday, the Republican House Leadership soundly denounced the recalcitrant Republican congress members who have signed onto the DACA amnesty Discharge Petition. See the list of the 19 SHAMEFUL Republican congress members below who are now working with the Democrats on the issue of amnesty for DACA recipients as they attempt to force a floor vote.

CALL & THANK the Republican House Leadership for taking a stand against the Discharge Petition that would force a DACA amnesty floor vote in the House. If it's after business hours, leave a voice mail message.

GOP House Leadership Fight Discharge Petition for 'Queen of the Hill' Resolution

House Leadership: Majority Whip Steve Scalise (LA)  and Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA)

PUBLISHED

Thu, MAY 10th 2018 @ 11:52 am EDTHouse Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) are resisting Rep. Carlos Curbelo's (R-Fla.) decision to file a Discharge Petition for Rep. Jeff Denham's (R-Calif.) resolution (H.Res. 774) yesterday, which could force a vote in the House on DACA amnesty legislation.
"I'm not a believer in discharge petitions because you're turning the floor over to Democrats," Rep. McCarthy said. "I hope the discharge petition doesn't get the signatures and we continue to work the legislative process to solve this problem ...
"I've talked to some Members about the importance of keeping control of the legislative vehicle and solving the problem on our terms where we focus on solutions, not politics."
Rep. Scalise went on to promote Rep. Bob Goodlatte's H.R. 4760, the Securing America's Future Act, which he and 96 others have cosponsored.
"We have a regular process that we've been working through and Goodlatte-McCaul, I still think, is the right answer to the problem -- I'm a cosponsor of the bill -- but there's still work being done," he said.
"I know there are some people that might want a different approach [to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program], and that's really where our conference has been the most divided ...
"The good news is on Goodlatte-McCaul, the McCaul portions of the bill, we pretty much have a widespread agreement on how to secure our border."
If every Democrat were to sign onto the Petition, only 25 Republicans would need to sign on to force a floor vote.
If the petition garners the required number of signatures, a House vote would be required on four proposals -- Rep. Bob Goodlatte's Securing America's Future Act, Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard's (D-Calif.) Dream Act, an amendment of House Speaker Paul Ryan's (R-Wisc.) choosing, and an amendment of Rep. Denham's choosing.
The proposal that receives the most votes and exceeds 218 votes would be passed by the House.

New Discharge Petition could force votes on several no-strings amnesty proposals

Dear activist,
Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-Fla.) has launched a Discharge Petition in an attempt to force a vote on Rep. Jeff Denham's (R-Calif.) H.Res.774.
H.Res.774 is a House Resolution that, if passed, would require votes on several DACA amnesty proposals with the proposal receiving the most votes, and at least 218 votes, officially adopted by the House.
This is a clear effort by a small group of House Republicans to pass a no-strings amnesty against the wishes of the American people and their Party's leaders.
The Discharge Petition already has signatures from 17 House Republicans. If a total of 25 House Republicans and all Democratic Representatives also sign on, it would reach the necessary 218 signatures to force a vote on Rep. Denham's amnesty Resolution.

CALL your congress member and demand that your congress member OPPOSES the  DISCHARGE PETITION to bring DACA amnesty bills to the floor for a vote, which is being promoted by these rogue Republicans even though House Leadership has objected. WINNING! House GOP Calls Cryin' Chuck's #SchumerShutdown Bluff, Sends Conference Home

I am so proud of the House GOP leadership.

They are finally working in line with the will of the American people. They are funding the government through February with another continuing resolution. Good.

Finally, Speaker Ryan is leading (a little)

They are putting in a program to continue funding for the CHIP program. Not so good.

They are delaying the onerous Obamacare taxes for two years. Very Good.

They are not going to have any discussions on immigration. EXCELLENT. There is no DACA in the legislation. Really, really good.

The House GOP leadership conference is standing their ground on the last continuing resolution. They are putting the onus on the Senate Democrats, sending the message loudly and clearly around the country.

Breitbart reports:

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said that Republican leadership will send House lawmakers home this weekend, calling Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s (D-NY) bluff on a potential government shutdown.

“We’ve passed our CR [Continuing Resolution],” McCarthy said after a House leadership meeting.

The House Majority Leader issued the following press release following passage of the latest CR, detailing this press release "Schumer Shutdown":

Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on House passage of a continuing resolution and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) funding:

“Everyone in Congress claims to support our troops, and Republicans and Democrats in the Senate came together and agreed to a Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) compromise. Today, the House has passed government funding legislation that makes sure our troops get paid and has the same CHIP legislation from the Senate. There are no gimmicks. There are no strings attached. This is a clean government funding bill that pays our troops, supports our veterans, keeps government open, and provides children with health insurance exactly the way Republicans and Democrats agreed to.

The legislation also delays dreaded taxes forced on the American people because of Obamacare.

“If Senate Democrats obstruct this legislation—and as a result shut down the government—they have made the decision to cut off pay to our troops and block children’s health care funding they support, laying bare an obvious act of political cynicism. It would show the American people that Democrats have spent months using our brave men and women in uniform, our veterans who have sacrificed serving our country, and health insurance for American children  as a bargaining chip for a completely unrelated immigration negotiation.”

Finally, the House GOP conference is playing 3-D chess. The Democrats have been demagoguing the CHIPS program for months. Are they going to vote against this beloved entitlement that they have championed for the past year?

The Speaker of the House issued his own press release, too, calling out the Schumer Democrats:

January 19, 2018|Speaker Ryan Press Office

WASHINGTON—House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) issued the following statement ahead of the Senate convening to consider the continuing resolution to fund the government and fully authorize the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) for six years:

“Make no mistake about it: Senate Democrats are the only ones standing in the way of a fully funded government and a reauthorized health insurance program for children. This is no time to play politics and force a shutdown. The House has done its job. And now Democrats' dangerous opposition jeopardizes funding for our military and puts our national security at risk. It uses our men and women in uniform as political bargaining chips. This is unacceptable. This is needless. This is wrong. I urge Senator Schumer and the Senate Democrats to reconsider their reckless intent to shut down the government.”

Make no mistake: if there is a government shutdown tonight, it will be a:

#SchumerShutdown

This is what leadership looks like.

We need to send the message loudly and clearly to Washington DC.

Our government exists to serve American citizens, not illegal aliens, not amnesty panderers.

Call #CryinChuck and tell him "No #SchumerShutdown!

President Trump and US Senators Discuss Immigration Package. Tell Them "No DACA! No Amnesty!"

New post on We the People Rising

President Trump Met With Senators
On 1/4/18 President Trump met with Republican senators to talk about legislation to grant legal status to recipients of Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, DACA. Supposedly any legislation will also include the building of the wall and the termination of chain migration and the lottery visa program. But in the past when amnesty has been granted to illegal aliens the border security features in legislation are ignored. For example, President Ronald Reagan's amnesty was signed into law legalizing illegal aliens but the border security section of the law was NEVER enforced.
Building the wall and ending the pro illegal and pro terrorist oriented visa programs should be stand alone bills. Legalizing DACA recipients should not be the focus of legislative efforts. The well being and safety of the American people should be the focus of legislation not illegal aliens.
There are articles below and a You Tube video that covers the meeting yesterday with President Trump and the senators.

Tweet to the 34 Pro-DACA GOP House Reps: No DACA, No Amnesty, Put Americans First!

We the People have won the first round against the pro-illegal alien activists, Big Business, and the Open Borders Lobby in Congress. As much as they tried, they could not induce Democrats to force a government shut-down to get a DREAM Act amendment onto the Continuing Resolution package passed at the end of December 2017.

The fight is real, however, and the DACA demands have not abated. Amnesty is still lingering in the halls of Congress, and unless our representatives hear loudly and clearly from American citizens, they will go along with the guilt-tripping media, along with the pressures and demands of Big Business, Big Labor, and Big La Raza.

We need to double down on every single pro-DACA Republican in the House of Representatives to make sure that there are no DACA deals, no DACA "fix", no amnesty of any kind. The federal government has a responsibility to protect the life and liberty of American citizens, not illegal aliens.

Here are some crucial facts to share with office staffers and fellow citizens:

Some reports have suggested that as many as 50% of the DACA recipients received those permits through fraudulent or distorted means. Many of these young illegals are not really young, but their average age is in the mid-20s. Any talk about ending chain migration as part of any DACA deal will not work, since illegals granted legal status can start filing lawsuits or upon receiving full naturalization, can start sponsoring their family members, both immediate and extended, along with distant relatives. The demands for more amnesty will never stop.

Remember the looming tide of young illegals who crowded the southern border of the United States in 2014? All of these illegals were inspired to rush the border because elected officials in Washington DC and advertisements throughout Latin America were informing these "youth" (since many of them happen to be adults, in fact).

The cost to incorporate, integrate, and provide for 800,000 illegals is toward the tens of billions alone. The long-term cost to our country's health, well-being, quality of life, public safety is too great to allow any more amnesties. At this point, American leaders and lawmakers need to put Americans First.

34 DACA House GOP In Need of a Primary Challenge

Thirty-four Republican Congressmen signed a letter to support DACA and demand some kind of DACA Fix for these illegal aliens.

That population of illegal aliens will be able to bring over their friends, family, acquiantances, every member of the tribe. No more amnesty. This country has been patient and generous enough. It's time for the United States to put the needs of Americans first and disregard the globalist, international shaming and badgering to take in everyone in the world.
These House Reps need a nice primary next year.

How could they defy the will of the voters in their own districts and push for amnesty?

Their support for any kind of legal status for illegal aliens in this country is just inexcusable.

They need to go:
The Big Business, Big Labor, and Big La Raza lobbies in Washington DC still have too much power.

We the People elect our House Reps, but instead of responding to the concerns of their votes, they go along with the donor class, the people with the most upfront speakers in Washington DC, and the ones who pull all the purse strings. All of this wrong.

As Bill Whittle commented in a talk before conservative activists, we need a new kind of politician, one who sees service in Congress as a duty, not just social promoting or job-hunting, one who look at the Deep State bureaucracy and say "You're Fired!"

This new politician has to recognize the importance of country and sovereignty, not just look for ways to line their pockets. The incentive to get rich off the working people of this country, at the expense of American citizens, must be removed somehow. The good news is that the media doesn't have the pressure and power that it used to have,

The Notorious 20 House GOP Who Voted Against AHCA

Republicans did vote against the latest American Health Care Act.

EEK!

Who were these people?!

Here are their names (from Heavy.com):
  • Andy Biggs (Arizona) – Congressman Andy Biggs of Arizona felt that the American Health Care Act does not go far enough in repealing Obamacare. “I have opposed the AHCA from the very beginning because it is not a clean repeal of Obamacare,” he said in a statement. “While I applaud all the hard work of the House Freedom Caucus, which has made every effort in recent weeks to improve this legislation, the final bill unfortunately does not meet the promises I made to my constituents.”
OK. It's not perfect. Neither was the reconciliation bill from 2015.

Biggs is one of the Freedom Caucus members, I believe. He wanted something better than nothing. His steps are pretty well-known, and Republicans in Arizona have had to deal with a diverse and undermining coalition of liberal-leaning Republicans who combine with Democrats to get more moderate-liberal leaning speakers in the past.

There's always more work to be done, though, no doubt.
  • Mike Coffman (Colorado) – Congressman Coffman said he opposed the bill because it does not do enough to protect those with pre-existing conditions. “I worry that, under the current language, a small percentage of those with preexisting conditions may not be adequately protected,” he said in a statement. “If House Leadership will work to tighten protections for those with preexisting conditions, I’m a yes on sending this bill to the Senate for further consideration. If not, I’m a no, and we’ll go back to the drawing board to clean up the mess created by the Affordable Care Act.” Clearly, he did not feel the House ended up doing enough to protect people with pre-existing conditions.
Coffman is in a swing district in Colorado, where the Democratic registration exceeds Republican registration by about two-three points. Rocky Mountain Republicans need to work harder and get their act together. Colorado was a reliable Republican strong holder until eight years ago. Get it together!

  • Barbara Comstock (Virginia) – Congresswoman Barbara Comstock of Virginia says that Obamacare is in a death spiral, but she’s not convinced that the American Health Care Act will actually lower costs. “While this bill addressed important principles like covering pre-existing conditions and not having lifetime limits imposed on the sick, and reducing costs and increasing choices for many working families, the uncertainties in the current version of the bill caused me not to be able to support it today,” she said in a statement.
She's in a swing district, too, actually, and she is still getting targeted.
  • Ryan A. Costello (Pennsylvania) – Congressman Ryan Costello of Pennsylvania said that the AHCA doesn’t do enough to protect people with pre-existing conditions. “Protections for those with pre-existing conditions without contingency and affordable access to coverage for every American remain my priorities for advancing healthcare reform, and this bill does not satisfy those benchmarks for me,” he said in a statement. “I do believe substantial reforms need to be made to our healthcare system. I will review any future modifications or legislation with these principles in mind, but I remain a no vote on this bill in its current form.”
  • Charlie Dent (Pennsylvania) – Congressman Charlie Deny of Pennsylvania said that the AHCA will leave too many people uninsured. “Too many people are going to be losing coverage,” he told CNN. “…Those are my underlying concerns. The new revised version does not address those concerns and that’s why I’m opposed to the bill.”
  • Dan Donovan (New York) – Congressman Dan Donovan of New York was not a fan of the fact that the bill exempts New York State counties from contributing to the state’s Medicaid coffers but does not include New York City in that exemption. “The provision excludes New York City, putting an unfair and disproportionate burden on City residents to cover the state’s exorbitant Medicaid expenses,” he said in a statement. “We need healthcare reform – including promised Medicaid reform in New York where we spend more than Texas, Florida and Pennsylvania combined – but it shouldn’t be done on the backs of already overburdened City residents who will undoubtedly have a tax increase forced on them to pay for this eminently unfair policy.”
I am scratching my head as I look at this.

1. He represents a part of New York City. That's a miracal in itself.

2. He wants to make nice with liberal New Yorkers. UGH!
  • Brian Fitzpatrick (Pennsylvania) – Congressman Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania said that the bill does not adequately address the opioid epidemic. “I have many concerns with this bill, and first among them is the impact on the single most important issue plaguing Bucks and Montgomery Counties, and the issue that I have made my priority in Congress: opioid abuse prevention, treatment and recovery,” he said in a statement.
  • Jaime Herrera Beutler (Washington) – Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler of Washington said that the bill does not provide an adequate safety net for kids who depend on Medicaid. “While I appreciate this week’s effort by Speaker Ryan and his leadership team to better protect older Americans from health care cost increases, the difficulties this bill would create for millions of children were left unaddressed,” she said in a statement. “I’m disappointed that it appears my amendment to strengthen the Medicaid safety net for the kids who depend on it for their health care will not be considered. Protecting vulnerable children is a core purpose of the Medicaid program and when the program fails to do so, it fails entirely. I will not vote to let those kids fall through the cracks.”
"It's about the children!" No, it's about holding onto his house seat. Washingotn State is not a red state. YET.
  • Will Hurd (Texas) – Congressman Hurd said in a statement, “Since the implementation of Obamacare, I’ve told my constituents that the only meaningful metric when it comes to healthcare is actual access to quality, affordable care – not just health insurance. While the goal of Obamacare was to make healthcare more accessible and more affordable, it has done just the opposite. Likewise, while the goal of the American Health Care Act was to combat the skyrocketing premiums and outrageous deductibles millions of Americans face, it too, falls short.”
But why, Will, why?
  • Walter B. Jones (North Carolina) – Congressman Walter Jones of North Carolina said that the bill was rushed and highly flawed, and he added that he has heard loud and clear from his constituents that they don’t like it. “It’s time to scrap this flawed bill and start over,” he said in a statement. “Go out across the country, gather people’s input, and use an open, public process to thoughtfully craft a bill that delivers the relief the American people need.”
Do the right thing, no matter how many constituents scream of yell.
  • David Joyce (Ohio) – Congressman Joyce said, “I’m eager to support legislation that doesn’t reduce funding in the Medicare trust fund and actually helps lower healthcare costs for the more than 465,000 people in my district who obtain their health insurance via their employer. Those individuals, who make up 65 percent of the district, have seen nothing but higher premiums, higher deductibles, and higher co-pays. We need to find solutions to help them and their families. The middle class cannot keep bearing the brunt of everything.”

Obamacare already reduced Medicare funding. Do we reallly want to hold onto what is already holding on for dear life? At all?!
  • John Katko (New York) – Congressman John Katko said that he felt the AHCA penalizes states that expanded Medicaid under Obamacare. He also said he was not convinced it will lower costs. “I’m not going to vote for a bill where I don’t know what it looks like until it’s done,” he said, according to Syracuse.com.
Very liberal Republica. Nuff said.
  • Leonard Lance (New Jersey) – Congressman Leonard Lance of New Jersey said that the AHCA will not lower costs. “I do not think that it lowers premiums, and I do not think that it covers enough people,” he told NPR. “And I read the CBO report, and I think that we have to move forward in a more bipartisan capacity. For example, I would like to see legislation passed that says we can purchase policy across state lines. That of course will require support from Democratic colleagues. And I challenge Democratic colleagues to come to the table and help repair the ACA.”
Katko.
  • Frank A. LoBiondo (New Jersey) – Congressman LoBiondo of New Jersey said that his constituents who rely on Medicare would be harmed under the AHCA. “Under the current proposal, many South Jersey residents would be left with financial hardship or without the coverage they now receive,” he said in a statement. “Our seniors on Medicare already struggle to make each dollar stretch. Three South Jersey counties have more than 30 percent of their residents receiving Medicaid assistance. Medical professionals – our hospitals, doctors, nurses – are opposed.”
See Katko.
  • Thomas Massie (Kentucky) – Congressman Massie of Kentucky was very much opposed to the American Health Care Act to the point that he actually said in an interview that it’s worse than Obamacare. According to Politico, he said that the bill relies on “replacing mandates, subsidies and penalties with mandates, subsidies and penalties.” In late March, he jokingly tweeted that he was changing his vote from “No” to “Hell No.”
Very principled freedom fighter. I respect his decision to reject AHCA. Interestingly enough, though, Justin Amash supported it.
  • Patrick Meehan (Pennsylvania) – Congressman Meehan of Pennsylvania said in a statement that the AHCA “threatens to send premiums skyrocketing for people with pre-existing conditions,” adding that it will “make coverage more expensive for for older Americans as they near retirement.”
What is it with Pennsylvania? Three of the PA delegation rejected the latest AHCA interation. Hmm...
  • Dave Reichert (Washington) – Congressman Reichert just recently announced that he would be voting against the AHCA. “This bill although a good attempt falls short,” he told a reporter on Thursday.
  • Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (Florida) – Congresswoman Ros-Lehtinen said in a statement, “I will not support a bill that has the potential to severely harm the health and lives of people in South Florida and therefore I remain steadfast in my commitment to vote NO on the AHCA. The recent addition of further funds to high risk pools continues to be inadequate and fails to cover those who need it most. If enacted, the older and poorer South Floridians will be worse off and will find it more difficult to obtain quality healthcare. My constituents should not have to take a step backward in their ability to obtain treatment for any illness and thus, I will vote NO.”
She's worried about the senior citizens rising up against her, especially the liberal ones from New England who migrate and retire in the Sunshine State.
  • Christopher H. Smith (New Jersey) – Congressman Smith said that he opposed the bill because of its cuts to Medicaid. “The overriding concern I have is the Medicaid expansion being significantly altered,” Smith told the Asbury Park Press. “It affects so many of our disabled individuals and families, and the working poor.”
Katko Part III.
  • Michael R. Turner (Ohio) – Congressman Turner of Ohio simply said in a statement that the AHCA would cause many of his constituents to lose coverage. “After numerous discussions with the White House and the Speaker’s office, in an attempt to improve this bill, including discussions today, I could not support the bill in its current form,” he said in a statement. “This legislation will result in people in my community losing health care coverage. Therefore, I could not support it.”
Sell-out. Who needs him. Get rid of him.
