Save California: Call Five House GOP Members NOW to Change Vote on DIS-Respect for Marriage Act

Urgent California Alert: Please act right now

Call and email the 5 Republican California congressmen who voted for H.R. 8404 in July (before it was amended in the Senate). They need to receive a flood of opposition to the bill's religious oppression and sexual anarchy. Express your righteous anger now.

Tell them, "You didn't know what you were voting on with H.R. 8404. This tyrannical bill attacks the religious freedom of individuals, business owners, non-profit organizations, and even churches that don't recognize or accommodate marriages not between a man and a woman. What's more, by omitting the word "only," H.R. 8404 contains a loophole permitting a person to be in more than one two-person marriage at the same time, which is polygamy. Stand and speak against H.R. 8404 when it returns to the House floor!"

Call and email especially if you live in a foolish "Republican" congressman's district, voted for him, volunteered for him, or donated to him. Tell his office, "If he doesn't stand and speak against H.R. 8404 when it returns to the House floor, he's lost my support."

Election 2018: Diane Harkey Polling Ahead (No Miller Effect in CD-49?)

First, the good news.

Retiring Board of Equalization member Diane Harkey is currently the top vote getting in the CD-49 Congressional race to replace Darrell Issa.

Diane Harkey for Congress

The bad news? Three Democrats are vying for second place, which means that we might not see the Miller Effect, i.e. two Republicans making into the Top Two in that seat.

That makes the efforts to keep the seat red a little more difficult. One can only hope that the dismal turnout for Issa hit rock-bottom because voters had soured on him, rather than because the district is trending more liberal by the year.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports:

A new poll in the tightly-contested 49th Congressional District campaign shows that state tax board member Diane Harkey has taken a breakaway lead with a pack of Democrats in a mathematical tie for second place.

Harkey, R-Dana Point, was backed by 24 percent of likely voters in a San Diego Union-Tribune/10News poll conducted between May 29 and 31, well ahead of the two Democrats who were tied for second at 11 percent.

Harkey, a former Dana Point mayor and Assembly member, was endorsed by the San Diego and Orange County Republican parties as well as the incumbent, Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Vista, who chose not to seek re-election. It’s a notable gain after other previous polls put Harkey in a distant third or beyond.

These endorsements actually mean something, since sometimes county central committees will part ways on certain candidates.

The fact that both committees rejected Rock Chavez, aka Rocky the RINO is very gratifying.

In fact, that's another piece of good news right there. The Chairman of the San Diego GOP, Tony Krvaric, refused to spend any capital backing Rocky Chavez for any election bid, whether seeking re-election to

“We are very pleased with the results, which match our own internal tracking,” said David Gilliard, Harkey's campaign consultant. “We will continue to work hard until the polls close on Tuesday.”

The top two voter getters in the June 5 primary will proceed to a runoff election in November, regardless of party.

But there's more:

It’s a big slide for Chavez, who polled at 16 percent in early April. He has been portrayed as a big spender in the statehouse in an attack ad by national Democrats, who apparently saw him as a candidate they did not want to face in November.

That's the last piece of good news. Rocky has the lowest numbers from different polling for that race. The voters are fed up with that tax-hiking, cap-and-traitor RINO. I forgot to mention that he voted to allow illegal alien children to have access to Medi-cal. That fraud is a corrupt back-stabber and has no business representing anyone anywhere as a Republican.

He's a Hispanic version of John McCain, nothing more.

Let's hope for the best for Diane Harkey, not just going into the primary but for a big win in November!

Diane Harkey: I'm Running!

Harkey for
Congres
Arthur,

Let me introduce myself. I am Diane Harkey and I am running for U.S. Congress because I've seen firsthand the need to reform the way government works, and more importantly the way it thinks.

I'll be frank: taxes are way too high, big government bureaucrats are wasteful, and our economy is crippled by overregulation.

After living California for over thirty-five years and serving as Chairwoman of Board of Equalization, I witnessed in ways large and small how government regulation can hinder or halt the very growth it claims to encourage.
Support Diane >>

I've spent my time on the Board working to ensure that every citizen is treated fairly by the government, which is exactly what I intend to do when elected to U.S. Congress.

Robbing Peter to pay Paul does not "grow" the economy. And dependency on government largess certainly does not "rescue" the poor from poverty.

It just attracts more government waste and prevents self-sufficiency and upward mobility.

I am running because I know that we cannot afford to send another Democrat — who espouses the same failed policies that have so burdened Californians — to Washington to implement those policies on a national level.

As you know, the Republican majority in the House is narrow and the balance of power could come down to who wins this race. We've made serious strides in Washington over the last year, and we can't afford to let them slip through our grasp now.

I am proud to have the support of Congressman Darrell Issa and Congresswoman Mimi Walters, who both know what it takes to get things done in Washington and how critical it is that we hold this seat.

Can I count on your support as we start this battle? Your contribution today will go directly toward laying the groundwork for a successful campaign.

Yes, Diane! You can count on me for $1000
Yes, Diane! You can count on me for $500
Yes, Diane! You can count on me for $250
Yes, Diane! You can count on me for $100
Yes, Diane! You can count on me for $50
Yes, Diane! You can count on me for another amount
I am no stranger to tough fights, and am determined to do what it takes to win — but I can't do it alone. I am counting on the support of people like YOU right now.

If you are as determined as I am to stop government overreach and send proven conservative voice to Congress, please make a small contribution of ANY AMOUNT today.

Sincerely,

Diane Harkey

P.S. Arthur, the race for CA-49 is predicted to me the closest in the nation. The national Democrat machine has been funneling money and activists here for over a year — and we have just now started raising money. We have serious ground to catch up on and I am counting on your help. Thanks, Diane.

Report: Rep. Duncan Hunter Jr. To Resign, Issa To Run for CD-50

Now I am getting real whiplash backlash.

I get three statements today from a source indicating another round of CAGOP musical chairs, focusing specifically on San Diego County.

Congressman Darrell Issa announced his decision to retire from Congress after 18 years in office.

Then I heard from a solid source that Rep. Duncan Hunter is going to retire, in part because of ramped up FBI investigations into his misuse of campaign funds for private and personal use.

Duncan Hunter to retire?

This revelation is crazy.

Is it really possible that Congressman Darrell Issa would run away from one district to jump into another district the same year?

Legally, a Congressman can run in any district within a state, as long as the said representative lives in that state. Is it ethical or moral, however? That's definitely debatable.

Hunter has gone from under suspicion to embattled because of the campaign finance issues. If this develops into something worse, San Diego GOP will see a repeat of former Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham.

Not good. Not good.

BOE Chairwoman Diane Harkey Announces Formal Bid for Congress

For Immediate Release
January 10, 2018
Contact: Dave Gilliard
Phone: 916-626-6804

Diane Harkey to Run for Congress
in the 49th District with Issa's Support

Dana Point, CA - - California's highest ranking Republican elected official Diane Harkey - Chairwoman of the State Board of Equalization - announced that she will run for Congress in the 49th district, currently represented by Congressman Darrell Issa who is retiring.

"It has been my honor to represent all of the constituents of the 49th Congressional District for the last three years. I've been their taxpayer advocate in state government and I will be that same strong voice in Washington D.C., said Harkey.

"In Congress, I will focus on keeping America safe and our economy strong and growing.  The best possible military is non-negotiable. A thriving economy will not only allow us to have a military that is able to respond to any threat around the world, but also provides access to world class health care and job opportunities that make the 49th Congressional District the very best place to live, work and raise a family."

"I strongly support Diane Harkey's candidacy.  I know Diane Harkey to be a dedicated public servant and a tenacious candidate. I look forward to working with her," said Congressman Darrell Issa.

As Chairwoman of the State Board of Equalization, Harkey advocates for policies that support job creation in the private sector, improve California's budget outlook, and reduce the burden of complying with government audits and various tax regulations.

Harkey graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Economics from the University of California, Irvine and enjoyed a successful 30-year career in corporate finance and banking. Working in good and bad economic climates with individuals, small business owners, and leaders of publicly-traded companies helped form the pragmatic business perspective that she brings to the Board of Equalization.

Harkey won her election to the Board of Equalization with over 61% of the vote and is proud to represent 9.5 million constituents in the counties of Orange, Riverside, and San Diego.

GREAT NEWS! Diane Harkey Running to Replace Issa (So is Rocky the RINO)

At first, I was really sad to hear that Congressmen Ed Royce and now Darrell Issa are retiring from Congress.

Then I got the news about the candidates who will run to replace those two Congressmen.

For Ed Royce, his former district director Young Kim is going to run for the seat. Royce has already endorsed her.

The candidate running to replace Darrell Issa is even stronger: Diane Harkey!

I would have never thought of her running for the seat, but many sources have informed me that she is the perfect candidate for the seat. Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy directly asked her to run for the seat.

She has widespread name ID throughout Southern California. She is the current Chairman of the Board of Equalization. She has the money, too, and statewide support since she is the highest ranking elected Republican official in the state of California.

Then Jeff Schwilk issued the following information:

Diane Harkey is the highest elected Republican in California as the Chairwoman of the California State Board of Equalization.  Harkey was also an Assemblywoman in North San Diego County from 2008-2014 where she had an excellent conservative record and was tough on illegal immigration issues.  From all indications we have seen today, she will be an excellent candidate and odds-on favorite to win in November and keep that seat red in this strong military district.   And I just received confirmation this evening that she is against amnesty and supports the president’s common sense border security and immigration enforcement policies and agenda.

Assemblyman Rocky “La Raza” Chavez also announced today that he is running for Issa’s seat.  We have been expecting this for several years, knowing Issa would retire at some point after being in Congress for 17 years, and that Chavez wants to go to Washington to help transform the GOP even further to the left.  As most everyone knows by now, Chavez is a pro-mass amnesty, open border, tax & spend, progressive RINO.  His campaign is DOA as far as we’re concerned.  Carl DeMaio was ripping Rocky this afternoon on his radio show.

Rocky is a piece of crap. He is a full-on Cap and Traitor, and he want him to go down crashing and burning. He is terrible. Shame on this RINO!

I am glad to read that Carl DeMaio is slamming Rocky Chavez.

I want Carl DeMaio to get behind Diane Harkey right away! I hope that the rest of the San Diego GOP does the same.

We need to fight for every seat in the California Conference.

We might even have the chance to gain some seats in the state assembly and state senate, especially with the recall election in full swing to get rid of Josh Newman.

SDSB [San Diegans for Secure Borders] will be making a formal endorsement in this race in the coming days once the field is finalized.

Keep up the fight.  When we fight, we win and America wins!

So ...

I have more hope for our election chances going into November 2018.

If Republicans can staunch the bleeding and hold onto as many seats as possible, and Republicans flip some swing seats in other states (Minnesota, Pennsylvania), Republicans can still hold the House of Representatives. Of course, Republicans are in really good shape to keep the US Senate and expand their numbers!

For now, I am really glad to see Diane Harkey on the move. I have hope that Young Kim will hold onto Royce's house seat, too.

Tax Reform Passes the House: Who Voted Against It?

Once again, the House of Representatives is getting busy, and they have passed a comprehensive tax reform bill.

Here are the key factors in the bill which direct toward lowering costs and lowering taxes for American citizens (CBS News reports):

Here's what the House version of the measure would do:

  • Corporate tax rate would be cut from 35 percent to 20 percent;
  • It nearly doubles the standard deduction -- from $6,350 to $12,000 for individuals and $12,700 to $24,000 for married couples;
  • The child tax credit would be expanded from $1,000 to $1,600, and the child and dependent care tax credit would be continue at $300;
  • The home mortgage interest deduction would be capped at $500,000;
  • It eliminates the Alternative Minimum tax;
  • The bill also eliminates the Estate tax

Here are the Republicans who voted against the bill:

• Rep. Dan Donovan (New York)
• Rep. John Faso (New York)

• Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (New Jersey)
• Rep. Darrell Issa (California)
• Rep. Walter Jones (North Carolina)
• Rep. Peter King (New York)
• Rep. Leonard Lance (New Jersey)
• Rep. Frank LoBiondo (New Jersey)
• Rep. Tom McClintock (California)
• Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (California)
• Rep. Chris Smith (New Jersey)
• Rep. Elise Stefanik (New York)
• Rep. Lee Zeldin (New York)

The vast majority of the voters represent constituents in high-tax blue states. The House Bill removes deductions for state taxes, and because the state incomes taxes are so high, the argument follows that these blue state residents will end up with a higher tax burden.

Yet Stephen Moore spoke to this concern at the October 2017 CAGOP Convention in Anaheim:

The biggest takeaway? The federal income tax rates were coming down much lower, which would allow for savings on that end, even if there was no longer an state income tax deduction.

Three Republicans in the California delegation voted against the bill, all citing the removal of the deduction for stateincome taxes.

I contacted Congressman Dana Rohrabacher's office, since I was surprised that he had voted against the legislation, though. His staffers informed me that he had received a large volume of calls in opposition to the bill, and therefore he decided to vote against it. I guess all the calls from the Indivisible Movement are having an unprecedented impact after all.

Tom McClintock and Darrell Issa had decided against the legislation for the same reasons.

Walter Jones was a unique stand-out in the list, as well. His press release indicated his concerns with the growing national debt, and that tax reform would end up increasing the deficits and put the national security at risk because of continued borrowing.

No Back Door Amnesty--No Citizenship for Illegal Alien "Veterans"--Reject HR 60

From CAPS today (first action item):

http://cqrcengage.com/caps/home?0

ACTION ALERT - Do you agree backdoor citizenship is a bad idea?

Help stop the ENLIST Act amnesty!

Ask your Representative to oppose the HR 60 amnesty!

HR 60 would give Legal Permanent Residence (LPR) status to those who entered
the U.S. illegally at age 15 or younger and have been continually present in
the U.S. since 2013 if they join the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast
Guard.  They would then be on a fast track to citizenship.

There are a number of problems with this approach.  First, like all
amnesties, it will encourage more illegal immigration, in this case by
minors, the most vulnerable and most at risk from harm during the trip to
this country.

Second, there is no need for this legislation. Some citizens and legal
residents are now turned away when they seek to enlist because they fail to
meet entry standards.

Third, this is a risk to national security and our military personnel. Those
motivated by this enticement may not have the same commitment to serve
America. Moreover, it will be difficult to perform background checks on
someone who has been in the U.S. for just a few years.

Tell Congress to oppose the ENLIST Act, a bad immigration policy and bad
military policy.

ACTION NEEDED

Ask your Representative to oppose the ENLIST Act,  HR 60. Send a fax or an
e-mail by entering your information and clicking "submit" below. If your
Representative has already signed on as a sponsor you will see a message
that asks them to withdraw sponsorship and, instead, to oppose the HR 60
amnesty! If your Representative has not yet signed on as a sponsor the
message you see will ask them to hang tough and oppose the ENLIST Act.

Please send a fax or an e-mail by entering your information and clicking
"submit" below.

Patriotism: The Last Refuge of an Illegal Immigrant Scoundrel

Samuel Johnson, the witty grammarian, dictionary compiler, and literary critic could put down the worst offenses with lightning fast rapier wit.  One comes to mind in connection with the latest push for amnesty in Congress: “Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.” Meaning? Every man lacking moral fiber will justify his plunge to unseen depths of depravity by waving the flag of his nation: “I broke the law for the sake of my country!” The more subtle criminals—including ambitious politicians—will pull out the patriotism card to get elected or to explain away bad votes. In the final calculation, they push to give themselves a personal advantage, often at the expense of the very country which they claim to champion: “Look at all the flags on my website! Vote for me!”

How does this unpatriotic play for patriotism connect with illegal immigration? A lighter form of amnesty is floating around, this time from Congressman Jeff Denham (R-CA). His ENLIST Act (H.R. 60) seems like a common-sense proposal. If illegal aliens meet key requirements and serve in the United States military, they can receive legal status. Sounds good—at first. If men and women put their lives on the line for the United States, why not reward their self-sacrifice with citizenship?
Historical references are crucial to explain why this proposal should be court-martialed and sent to the firing squad. During the waning era of the Western Roman Empire, the Romans recruited mercenaries from Germanic and Gallic tribes to restore their armed ranks. The allegiance of these outsider-soldiers sided with the commanding officers, not the Roman Emperor and Empire. The same barbarians recruited for their adopted homeland would eventually turn on their own neighbors and nation. This threat of internal dissension and demise cannot be ignored or overlooked. Citizenship is about embracing values, not just defeating foreign invaders.

Despite these serious concerns, Congressman Denham (R-Turlock) has introduced this measure repeatedly, and now fellow California Congressman Darrell Issa (who’s giving conservatives more reasons not to support him in the upcoming election) has signed on. These and other Republicans (especially in California) are paying attention to Democratic talking points rather than fired-up Re-TRUMP-licans—who are fed up with amnesty and politicians who ignore the needs of American citizens.

Since these pro-illegal policies pushed by these politicians would endanger our country, why do they push this narrative? Why are these scoundrels in Washington targeting illegal alien veterans? They are banking on the idea that this small measure will temper criticism from angry constituents. In Santa Ana, California, a liberal sanctuary city right in the heart of conservative Orange County, California, Congressman Lou Correa hosted a town hall for illegal aliens (another one shut down by feckless liberals in the face of raging Trump supporters demanding the rule of law). Correa started off about the fear imposed on “immigrant” (read, illegal alien) communities. He then switched over to his upcoming visit to Tijuana to visit with deported veterans. They had green cards, but they broke the law (“They got into trouble,” according to Correa), and thus they were deported.

One woman attending Correa’s town hall denounced the illegal aliens whom Correa was championing. When he had mentioned their previous service in our military, her criticism dampened somewhat. Who’s going to speak against military service for the United States, right? These amnesty panderers think that mentioning the word “veteran” will excuse crimes of the past. Wrong, I say! Military service is not a Get Out of Jail Free card. Every veteran should be thanked for their service, but it doesn’t mean they can commit crimes or limit the rights of everyday citizens.

Many times this year alone, liberal veterans have tried to silence my criticism: ”Are you a veteran? Have you fought for this country?” My retort: “You fought for my right to speak.  Are you now undermining your own efforts by telling me that I cannot be here?”

Veterans who commit crimes should be tried, convicted and sentenced, just like the rest of us. They fought for the rule of law overseas, and they are called to abide by those standards here. Read up on Randy “Duke” Cunningham, a Republican congressman who once represented San Diego County. He was convicted of bribery and corruption charges in 2005. During the sentencing hearing, his defense attorney pled for clemency because of his military service. No deal, said the judge.

This “rule of law” thing seems to escape amnesty panderers like Correa, however. The illegals who served in our military should have never enrolled in the first place. They should not have been in our country! Let’s have true standards, please! Besides, if the ENLIST Act becomes law, EXPECT more illegals rushing into our country to enlist for legal status. No deal. It’s time to put aside the memes and patronizing half-measures of our politicians. They want to play the patriotism card to sell their constituents on partial amnesty, and I am having none of it. Once again, I will share with you the list of 200—yes, that many—cosponsors for Denham’s ENLIST Act.  Tell them “No Way.”

The next time your Congressman pushes this “Amnesty for illegal alien veterans” card, just give them a sample of Samuel Johnson’s wit: “Patriotism is the last resort of a politician … er, scoundrel!

CAGOP: Democrats are Targeting Devin Nunes and Duncan Hunter, too?!

Now this is just plain insane.

The National Democratic Party really thinks that California is their gold mine for flipping seats and building back their majority in the House of Representatives.

I don't think so.

The California GOP Eblast just called out this desperate attempt:
