FINALLY! David Hadley Drops Out of Governor's Race (What Will He Do With the Money He Raised?)

It's about time!

I wrote two emails to David Hadley for jumping into the Governor's race.

What was he thinking?

Did he really think that he had a chance?!

No way.

Here are the comments I sent to him.

Bye everyone!

From my first email:

I do not support your bid for governor.

Then I sent him this email:

I am glad that you were my assemblyman for one term and the State Assembly.

I'm very disappointed that you're choosing to run for governor. You are not a fit for that office. You served only one term in the State Assembly. I do not like that you didn't help me and the Ceach Cities Republicans when the corrupt Central Committee was attacking us.

I will always commend the successes that you accomplished in the State Assembly. School choice for military families and civil asset forfeiture reform were wonderful accomplishments. I still thank you for making those reforms happen.

Now for the tough love.

If you really care about setting the state of California on a proper course you would take a hint and drop this foolish bid for governor.

And I am well aware that it's Charles Munger who is floating this bid for governor. This is just controlled failure. I want to see controlled success.

Please drop out. And you have my full permission to print this letter to send it to your superiors, your campaign managers,  anybody who's working on your staff. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Arthur Schaper
President of the Ceach Cities Republicans

Well, Hadley dropped out.

Finally!

Here is the write-up in the Los Angeles Times:

Former GOP state lawmaker David Hadley announced Wednesday he is dropping out of the gubernatorial race two weeks after he jumped in.

In an email to supporters, Hadley said he concluded that he could not win the race despite receiving encouragement since announcing his candidacy.

“No matter how much preparation you put in, there are certain things you cannot learn until you step into the arena,” he wrote. “What I have learned since I announced my candidacy has led me to conclude that I cannot responsibly ask donors, endorsers, volunteers, supporters or my family to invest in this campaign right now…. We would not have the time and resources to make the case we need to make to all California voters.”

Addition--there is no way that he can make the case for this bid. None.

Hadley, 52, is a social moderate and fiscal conservative who some thought had the potential to galvanize the GOP establishment in next year’s gubernatorial race. The former assemblyman from Manhattan Beach, who was the third Republican to enter the race, said he had won the endorsement of a majority of the state’s GOP legislators and would have raised more than $1 million in July.

"Galvanize the GOP Establishment." Now that's an oxymoron if I ever read one!

Hadley wrote that a factor in his decision was the possibility that because of the state’s top-two voting system, more GOP gubernatorial candidates would increase the likelihood that two Democrats would face off in the general election — a repeat of what happened in the state's 2016 U.S. Senate contest.

“I am not prepared to increase the likelihood of that outcome by pressing on in a crowded field,” he wrote, adding that all donations would be refunded and that all of his endorsers were free to back other candidates.

The two remaining candidates in the field are businessman John Cox and Assemblyman Travis Allen (R-Huntington Beach).

I am leaning toward Allen at this time. No official endorsements at this time, however.

Cox, who has poured $3 million into his own bid, on Monday announced that he would contribute an additional dollar for every dollar donated to Hadley’s campaign, up to $1 million, in July.

Hadley did not mention Cox’s announcement in his email to supporters, which caught his own donors and party insiders off guard Wednesday evening.

I am not surprised, however.

He did address Cox and Allen, urging them to avoid focusing on tumult in Washington and focus on California’s needs. He also urged them to drop out if they could not run a race that has a chance of winning — an uphill battle in a state where Democrats outnumber Republicans by 19 points in voter registration.

Final Reflection

This is another victory for me because it's another defeat for the RINO-led LA County GOP Central Committee, specifically the 66th AD with Janice Webb as chair.

She has another failure on her record, indicating that she needs to go!

WHAT? Daid Hadley dropped out!
Thwarted again!!

Did you know that David Hadley raked in a pretty good haul during his two week bid for Governor?

What will happen to all that money, I wonder?

What indeed?

Let's just be glad that Hadley has dropped out, and more wannabe candidates take a hint and go away.

Good News: Martha Barbee in Run-Off for Re-Election

OK ... I was (gladly) wrong.

Martha Barbee, incumbent appointed councilmember for Redondo Beach, District One is in the Runoff.

One source informed me that she should have won outright, but for a third-party perennial candidate.

It's time to make sure that Barbee makes back onto city council.

Redondo Beach City Council is an interesting creation.

The mayor of they city of Long Beach normally does not vote on key proceedings.

If there is a deadlock on the city council, then the mayor votes (?).

If this information is wrong, please let me know.

Martha Barbee has a clear platform in her bid for a full term in her own right.

Here is key information from her campaign website:

I CAN WORK WITH OTHER MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL AND GET THING DONE

In case you forgot, the previous council unanimously appointed her to the city council!

LOCAL CONTROL OF POLICE AND FIRE

BRING BACK THE NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH: Neighborhood watch programs in our neighborhood create a closer sense of community and enhanced security for all of us – strengthening our sense of community.

Seriously! I cannot believe that any city would do without Neighborhood Watch

This is outrageous!

SCHOOL SAFETY

MAINTAIN AND ATTRACT BUSINESS AND EMPLOYERS

Barbee's election bid shows a commitment to helping businesses begin, grow, and thrive in Redondo Beach. The last thing that any city should be doing is ... pushing businesses out of business.

The Slow Growth-No Growth people are gobbling up local governing boards all over the South Bay. In Hermosa Beach, however, these Agenda 21 types are meeting stiff resistance. More South Bay homeowners need to wake up to the poor use of their property tax dollars, too.

MANAGE CITY REVENUES

Fiscal discipline is non-negotiable, and Martha Barbee wants to ensure that essential services do not fall away because of poor spending and no saving. Barbee's appointment is all aboard for spending

HOMELESSNESS

This divisive concern is turning into another third rail in South Bay politics.

What is leading to this untenable surge of homelessness within the Beach Cities? After all, this is one of the richest, safest regions of Southern California. How is it possible that an uptick in homeless vagrants has increased all of a sudden in this area?

What can cities do to curtail this problem?

RESPONSIVENESS: Maintaining a high level of responsiveness as your representative and fulfilling my duty in getting the City to provide us as residents the level of service that we demand and deserve.

Elected officials by and large have lost touch with a fundamental premise of their office: to serve citizens.

Big Green/No Growth types are all about serving an agenda,  and forcing everyone else to like it, or at least to shut up their concerns and criticisms about it.

Final Reflection

South Bay residents, Redondo Beach taxpayers: WAKE UP!

The last thing that this Beach City needs is another anti-business, anti-taxpayer technocrat more interested in stopping everything in the name of "protecting the planet."

Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Torrance -- everyone in the South Bay -- it's time GOTV.

On May 16, vote for Martha Barbee for Redondo Beach City Council!

Endorsements include:

Steve Aspel, Mayor of Redondo Beach
Mike Gin, Former Mayor of Redondo Beach
Brad Waller, RBUSD School Board Member
Redondo Beach Police Officers’ Association

Redondo Beach Fire Association
Assemblyman David Hadley (ret.)

What Happened to Hadley (And Why All is Not Lost in Deep Blue California!)

Back to David Hadley ...

He put together an incredible fundraising machine: the South Bay 100.

The members of this group contributed a set amount to join, and they participated in key activities throughout the election season to assist Hadley and his victory.

For his re-election bid, he launched the South Bay 300 ... and I joined this time!

The membership already grew to 412 members by election day!

And still Hadley lost.

As long as labor unions can drain their members of coerced dues and direct their funding to any targeted district they want to ...

As long as the unions can mobilizing their members--who receive pay as part of their activism--to pound the pavement, knock doors, and intimidate their fellow employees to vote a certain way ...

As long as Big Labor can infiltrate key legislative districts and outspend the opposition at will ...

Candidates who rely on voluntary donations from business interests will never have the same amount of money, or closely compete with the rapacious labor unions?

They take money and they do not have to spend it on overhead,  recruitment, retention, or anything else.

The funds are used to further their perverse political agenda.

Hadley's South Bay 100, then 300, and what would have been 500 was an effective organization.

He wanted to counter-balance the public sector unions to ensure consensus and cooperation among conservatives. One Republican would run for a seat, and all the political power of multiple endorsements and donations would hasten them to victory.

Richard Nixon won his Congressional election in the once swing-district Whittier area in the late 1940s following the consensus building from the Committee of One Hundred.

What changed between then and now?

Public sector employees did not bargaining collectively. They did not have the right to!

That all changed with Governor Moonbeam.

Three times now activists and concerned taxpayers have tried to limit the power of public sector union collective bargaining in the state of California. The latest iteration was Prop 32 in 2012, and that measure failed.

California needs federal intervention--NOW!

What about turnout?

That was a featured problem, too.

Republicans did not turn out in larger numbers.

They did not turn out in the primary. 44% of Republican voters in AD-66 did not come out to vote, while larger numbers of Democrats did, since Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton were battling all the way to the end.

What a shame. I had hoped that Ted Cruz would have continued to battle through after Indiana, even though he got flattened in the Hoosier state. His decision to fight on notwithstanding would have helped a number of down-ticket contests in California.

Here are the numbers on the voter turnout for the past three general elections in AD-66, too, in order to see how low voter turnout turned out:

Supporters--including myself--had hoped that the final tally would not determine the winner until two or three weeks later, just like in Election 2014.

This time, it's crystal clear that David Hadley lost.

How many voted in this election, though (based on tallies through November 25th)?

General Election Vote: 179,295

Voter turnout was not the problem apparently if one sees how this pace of turnout continues upward.

Nearly the same number of people came out to vote this year as four years ago.

The question remains, however -- how many more Democrats compared to Republicans voted in 2012 v. 2016?

The Big Labor phalanx has too much money.

Citizen Legislator David Hadley

Election 2016: What a difference an evening can make in a country--and in a state.

This Election Day was something unheard of. Pundits, pollsters, politicians, the political elite by and large were astounded.

Well-known, well-respected conservatives could not believe that Donald Trump would win the Presidency. Of course, men and women who understand the working people of our country, who recognize that the rule of law, secure borders, a thriving open economy, and fair deals in all trade still matter--they caught on much more quickly than most.

The turnout was larger than expected, especially among Republicans. Donald Trump took the Rust Belt, taking into his winning train Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, along with Ohio and Indiana.

The networks dragged their feet, as expected, and changed the standards for calling an election.

There was singing, laughing, rejoicing in large and welcome measure.

For California voters in the South Bay, however, the national victory contained a sad undertone.

Our own Assemblyman, David Hadley, did not win re-election.

David Hadley bested some of the most trying odds in 2013.

I understand his frustration and desperate wonder: "If this does not work, I am not sure what else can be done."

Fortunately, I do not share a sense of bleak pessimism about California, but there is no way that anyone could assess the situation without recognizing everything that Hadley did for the South Bay--and for California.

He had served as chairman/President of the Beach Cities Republicans for three years. He took over when the previous leader bailed on his responsibilities because he had not won the nomination--let alone the election--for Congress against Jane Harman in 2010.

He took over, and made something of the Beach Cities Republicans, creating a club that would impact the South Bay and make people think and vote conservative.

He was a monthly featured writer and speaker, The region sought his view on a number of issues. He gave his strict opinions on the political ups and downs in California, where overwhelming elections and underwhelming media coverage hurt civic participation.

He called the corrupting influence of the Big Green agenda in public education.

He championed every candidate who ran for office.

I remember how hard he worked in 2011 for Craig Huey during the 2011 special election to replace Jane Harman, and again his constant efforts to assist Craig's chances in 2012 for the state assembly.

Then he really got busy planning the next phase.

The South Bay 100 would serve as an endorsement body and fundraising arm to help the next Republican candidate who ran for Assembly District 66. I liked the idea, and so did the rest of the Central Committee he served on.

Hadley worked his tail off. He sought locally elected officials, popular and well-connected, to run.

Frank Scott was the termed-out mayor of Torrance. He passed.

Paul Tanaka the mayor of Gardena was the next person, but he turned down the chance, since he was running for LA County Sheriff.

A few other elected officials were worth considering, and all of them passed.

Then I got the phone call in August. Hadley announced to me that he was going to run.

I did not believe it, and I did not welcome the announcement at first. I must admit, I contacted a local official that I thought would be interested in turn. He turned it down, citing overwhelming commitments of a different nature.

I was unhappy, and I even felt snubbed by David. I left him alone for a few months and had nothing to say.

Then October 2014 rolled around, and I realized the scope of all that he was accomplishing. He had created a unifying political force, he had removed unnecessary obstacles to a unified win. He worked, worked worked, I out the pieces together, he congratulated me on what I had--finally--figured out.

AND HE WON!

It was a real boost for the South Bay GOP.

Evan Chase, BCR President at the time, was especially thrilled because at the core he wanted to see us South Bay Republicans win elections again.

And GOP operatives started winning more races. Torrance City Council is majority Republican. Palos Verdes is all GOP now!

Hawthorne has a Republican mayor and city councilman.

Lawndale, too, and El Segundo is looking strong.

Republicans are winning again!

David Hadley left nothing to chance as an Assemblyman.

He got a school choice bill passed in the state of California. Does anyone not understand the full import of this accomplishment?! The media paid attention to Hadley, and documented these incredible victories.

He voted against every single tax increases. Every one. Not many Republicans in Sacramento can make the same boast ...

He voted against SB 1146, a bill designed to bully and ultimately shut down Christian colleges in the state of California.

. He fought for our liberties, and he crowned this achievement with civil asset forfeiture reform, in spite of freuent obstacles.

No, I did not agree with him on everything. I must admit that at one time I was so forlorn I was going to uit serving on the BCR Board.

But instead of complaining, I spoke out, and he listened. He answered every email I sent, and even challenged the Torrance City Council when Mayor Pat Furey was caught colluding with a PAC--a clear violation of campaign finance laws.

This is the kind of legislator we need in Sacramento. May his time increase.

Assemblyman David Hadley, I will write this fully and without reserve ...

Election 2016 loss is not your fault.

Your method for counter-balancing the public sector unions was a strong attempt, but at this point, we need a forceful intervention to stop these abusive labor unions from stealing our taxpayer dollars to spend on candidates and causes contrary to the individual and the public best interest.

This loss is a mere bump in the road. A Trump Presidency will ensure a culture shaped to constitutional rule, with limited government and individual liberty held in high esteem once again.

Thank you for your service, Assemblyman.

Thank you.

Schaper's Other Election Day 2016 Predictions

Sorry for the flurry of blog posts.

But there is simply too much to report on, and I cannot let some of these events and opportunities go away.

So, here is a further rundown on key states and races throughout the country.

President:

Trump will win. He will carry a key blue state which none of us had anticipated, and Crooked Hillary will go down in defeat.

285-253

US Senators:

The Republicans will hold the US Senate. We are going to lose three seats.

I fear that we are going to say good-bye to Ron Johnson and Pat Toomey. I am sad to see Toomey go, but oh well ...

We all knew that we were going to lose Mark Kirk, and some Republicans may not really care.

Joe Heck will pick Harry Reid's seat in Nevada.

House of Representatives:

Republicans will hold the House.

They will flip on seat in Florida to the GOP (FL-2)

GOP is going to hold the seat in Maine. Bruce Poliquin is a great guy and should be held to high esteem for his victory in blue Maine (and thank Paul LePage for helping to make Maine great again!)

As for California ... I think that Denham may be the most likely to be in trouble.

Steve Knight will hold his seat, since Democrats and Republicans are supporting him.

Paul Chabot will win CD-31, but by a slim margin.

Governor's Races:

Republicans will have gained a record-setting number of Governor's mansions this election cycle, and this victory is one of the  most underrepresented turn of events out there.

Republicans are going to win the Governor's seats in New Hampshire and Vermont.

Phil Scott
Yes, deep-blue, socialist socialzed "Weekend at Bernie's" Vermont. Phil Scott has taken a clear-cut back to basics economic message, and the Vermont voters are fed up with the tax-and-spend insanity of the VT Democrats!

Chris Sununu is running on Name Recognition, and Trump's swing through that swing-state is going to put him over the top.

West Virginia will have a complete GOP takeover, notwithstanding the Democratic candidate's last-minute acts of charity.

Missouri is going red. This is a close race right now, but Trump is doing very well in the Show Me State, and he will show the Democrats how things are done.

And now, we don't have to worry about North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory. He will hold onto his seat.

GOP: 35 Governors

Dems: 15 Governors

Damn, it's hard out there for the tax-and-spend, regulate-frustrate Dems isn;t it!

Heck of a job, there, Barry Obama!

California

David Hadley will win re-election.

Hadley had the superior ground game and resume, as well as widespread grassroots support.

Democrat Al Muratsuchi's unforced errors will overcome whatever advantage he had hoped to capitalize on.

Republicans will hold back any Dem supermajority, since Mike Antonovich is going to walk into Sacramento with a state senate seat, too.

Those are my thoughts on the most contentious races this Election Cycle.

What do you think?

"Go For Broke!" Japanese-American WW2 Vets Breaks Away from Muratsuchi, Support David Hadley

The Japanese-American community of Torrance is one of the largest in the United States.

There is no larger concentration of this diverse community anywhere in the country--besides Hawaii. In front of Torrance High School, my alma mater, a memorial to Tartar Ted Tanouye recognizes his service for country.

Bear in mind that 120,000 Japanese-Americans were interned during World War II because the federal government feared that any one of them could be colluding with the Axis Power Empire of Japan.

Tanouye was fighting for his country, even though his government was undermining the rights of a select number if its citizens.

The bravery of the Japanese-Americans, willing to take up arms and fight for our country, should not be forgotten.

David Hadley has connected extensively with the Asian community throughout the 66th Assembly District, and he has advocated on their behalf even if they did not live in his district.

Because of his tireless outreach and hard work to this community, leaders among the JA World War II veterans endorsed David Hadley for re-election.

Instead of respecting the rights of citizens to endorse whomever they choose, the Muratsuchi campaign decided to release a mailer--purportedly from an independent expenditure--featuring the JA WW2 vets.

This kind of trash happens all the time in the South Bay.

Crooked Aunt Janice released a mailer with a picture of Torrance Tartar Louis Zamperini--even though he had already endorsed Craig Huey or Congress in 2011. It's despicable and dirty.

Here is the mailer, with the proper information about the military personnel presented on it:

Mr. Kaji sets the record straight about his endorsement:

(He also served as treasurer for the city of Gardena)

More of them are proud to support Hadley:

First, Rafu Shimpo reported on the Muratsuchi duplicity ... but also insisted on repeating the misleading allegation that Hadley coordinated with an independent PAC, too. Reminder: Muratsuchi has filed a complaint, but that does not make it true.

Here is the photo/flyer which Rafu featured:

Nisei veterans who appear in a campaign flyer in support of Al Muratsuchi’s Assembly campaign have complained about the use of their photo and its implied endorsement.

And they were right to do so. Such sloppy, abusive campaigning is all too common with the Muratsuchi and Democratic phalanx.

The photo, taken in front of Gardena City Hall in 2014, first appeared in campaign literature during Muratsuchi’s unsuccessful re-election bid. The photo shows Muratsuchi with veterans Victor Abe, James Ogawa, Ralph Kaneshiro, Mas Takahashi and Ken Akune. Abe and Takahashi have passed away since the photo was taken.

How sick is that? The Democratic Party makes dead people and vote, and exploits their images and services to promote their own limited ends. How low can they go?

Photo release forms provided by Muratsuchi’s campaign indicate that the five veterans signed release waivers on Sept. 5, 2014. However, the permission form states that it was for the 2014 campaign.

EXACTLY! Not for 2016. This is a development which I was not aware of. Candidates must remember that men and women do not eternally lease their endorsement to candidates.

In a letter released by Jon Kaji on behalf of the veterans, the families of the veterans in the photo state that they have not approved its use in Muratsuchi’s current campaign and accused the Democratic candidate of “dishonorable conduct.”

Go John Kaji!

“We have respectfully asked Al Muratsuchi in August 2016 to refrain from any use of our photos depicting support for his campaign and are disappointed that the use has continued despite our wishes to the contrary,” the families state.

OUCH!

In response, Muratsuchi expressed regret about the use of the veterans’ photo but added “it was not used by my campaign.”

Sure, Al, Sure.

“It was used by a third party conducting what is called an ‘independent expenditure campaign.’ That means they conduct the campaign without the coordination or knowledge of my campaign. I cannot legally communicate with the committee that did this, although I have publicly asked they refrain from using these photos, as I have refrained from using them in my campaign,” Muratsuchi said.

“I have nothing but respect for the veterans who served and now participate in Go for Broke. I would never use their images without consent.”

If he has respect for the veterans, then he should have refrained from lying about his opponent David Hadley with nasty smears. He never should have resorted to the despicable attacks he used against Craig Huey, either.

The fact is that the families of these honorable veterans were beyond furious.

They should be, and Al Muratsuchi has lost more key support from Japanese-Americans in the South Bay.

The Daily Breeze then weighed in on this misuse of veteran profiles ...

Bitter 66th Assembly District race between Al Muratsuchi, David Hadleyrumbles toward finish

The potentially pivotal 66th Assembly District race between GOP incumbent David Hadley and Democratic challenger Al Muratsuchi enters its waning days filled with nasty accusations and recriminations between the two familiar foes.

Nothing potential -- it is pivotal.

Hadley, a Manhattan Beach businessman, is seeking to retain the seat he won by such a narrow margin two years ago that it took weeks before the outcome of the race was known and Muratsuchi reluctantly conceded.

Muratsuchi, a Rolling Hills Estate resident who formerly served on the Torrance school board, is perhaps facing the end of his political career should he become a two-time loser at the hands of Hadley.

Wait! I thought Al Muratsuchi lived in Torrance. How is it possible for him to live in a posh neighborhood on the Palos Verdes Peninsula on a deputy attorney general's pay?

And the final result in the coastal swing district itself — one of the few in the state — could potentially decide whether the dominant Democrats are able to secure a supermajority in the Legislature, which would give the party the power to dictate state policy and overrule the Republican legislative minority as never before.

That alone is reason enough to vote for David Hadley. But there's more.

With stakes like that, it’s perhaps no surprise the already venomous race has seemingly plumbed even further depths of late as the negative rhetoric rachets up yet another notch with the barrage of mailers pouring into voters’ mailboxes. Voters of the largely coastal South Bay district will decide the race Tuesday.

Honestly, is this race really as nasty as people make it out to be? How uickly the press has forgotten Election 2012, when the Democratic smears were so vile and offensive, Craig Huey filed a lawsuit against the Muratsuchi campaign for  libel!

COORDINATION WITH PACS?

For instance, Muratsuchi’s campaign has repeatedly attempted to link Hadley to “money-laundering” on several occasions.

Two, exactly, and the first time was  a mistake. The second time is a trumped-up (pun intended) charge intended to slow down the Hadley campaign.

The latest accusation is that his campaign coordinated with political action committees on their independent expenditures, which is against the law.

“Politician David Hadley will do anything to get elected — even break the law,” alleged one Muratsuchi mailer.

Muratsuchi has done just about anything to get elected, including lies and cheating. Just plain dishonorable.

Meanwhile, Hadley supporters have their own suspicions of possible illegal coordination between Muratsuchi’s campaign and an independent PAC.

An Oct. 27 mailer paid for by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, which operates the San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino in Highland, included photos of local Japanese-American World War II veterans.

The implication was that the veterans, pictured wearing shirts emblazoned with the logo of respected nonprofit Go for Broke had endorsed the candidacy of a fellow Japanese-American.

They have not endorsed Al. They do not want him in the state assembly representing him!

But at least a couple of the veterans pictured are now deceased and, although they signed releases allowing Muratsuchi’s campaign to use the pictures they took in 2014, that was not the case two years later.

This is the same information from the Rafu article. But the reaction of the families to the misuse of their images was more specific:

Several veterans and their family members said Friday they felt the mailer “exploited” them for political purposes and was “disrespectful.”

“The photos were misrepresentations,” said Scott Takahashi, 67, of Gardena, a Vietnam veteran and son of Mas Takahashi, who was pictured on the mailer but died last year. “This upset our family tremendously. It’s probably a good thing for him dad is not alive. Dad would probably not take this lying down.”

Neither will the voters of the 66th!

The group Asian Pacific Americans for Hadley countered by circulating an image similar to the mailer on Facebook featuring some of the same veterans endorsing Hadley.

Shimpock noted that Muratsuchi had publicly apologized in a letter to little-read Japanese-language newspaper Rafu Shimpo.

"Little-read"? Jealousy, much?!

There has been plenty of blow-back for Muratsuchi's desperate Democratic fraudulent behavior.

SOME LOCAL DEMOCRATS REACT

Meanwhile, some prominent former Muratsuchi supporters appear to be turning on the Democrat, too.

Former Assemblyman George Nakano has publicly disassociated himself from Muratsuchi, who is endorsed by President Barack Obama.

OUCH! Nakano is the dean of South Bay politics. He was the assemblyman for this region for the full term allowed by law.

Nakano said he withdrew his support in 2014 after supporting him for 20 years. This time around, he noted via email, other elected officials had, too, including Redondo Beach Mayor Steve Aspel, Rolling Hills Estates Mayor Steve Zuckerman, Gardena Councilwoman Tasha Cerda and Palos Verdes Estates Councilwoman Betty Lin Peterson.

I know a great deal about why Nakano uit Muratsuchi, even though he had mentored him for years.

Muratsuchi was colluding with Pat Furey and Ray Uchima to get him onto the Torrance City Council in 2014. There were multiple violations of the Brown Act in the process.

Nakano is liberal, but he is also honest and upright. He could not go along with Muratsuchi's scummy tactics.

“He’s unresponsive to his constituents,” Nakano said, adding Muratsuchi was a no-show at several events he had previously committed to attend.

That's true, too!

Shimpock countered that Nakano’s remarks were not “rooted in reality” and there was “not a lot of truth to it.”

Shimpock has no problem shaming David Hadley for non-existent allegations, but treads lightly when criticizing Nakano. "Not rooted in reality" ... Really?

"Not a lot of truth to it ..." So Nakano is a liar?

Well?!

Final Reflection

Al Muratsuchi is corrupt.

Al Muratsuchi is a liar.

He misuses the images of veterans, all while claiming that some third party took advantage of the photos which had been used in 2014.

And how did this San Manuel expenditure get these photos in the first place?

David Hadley has reached out to the Japanese-American communities. He has shown up time and again to represent their interests. He has honored their contributions for our country and the South Bay.

Where in the world was Al Muratsuchi when he was in the state assembly? Nowhere. He never showed up, and he never stepped up.

There's a very clear reason why the Gardena-Torrance Japanese-American community wants Hadley in Sacramento!

West Torrance High School Teachers Reject Union Leadership, Support David Hadley

Walking precincts in the city of Torrance is fun.

I meet a lot of people I know from day to day interactions.

I also run into individuals whom I went to school with years ago.

Torrance has that interesting balance of large suburban core mixed with a hometown feel.

Like a lot of people born and/or raised in this city, there is no reason to move away, provided you can make ends meet and do well for yourself.

Now, about Election 2016.

The fight for California's future is centered right here in the South Bay and Torrance, is the heart of the district of contention, the 66th Assembly District.

The incumbent is our very own David Hadley, the first Republican to represent the region in Sacramento since 1992.

Hadley is very popular.

By and large, Republicans want Hadley back in the state assembly. So do Democrats and Independents.

There are a few stragglers who are unhappy with his decision not to endorse Donald Trump.

Honestly, I do not care.

I am voting for Donald Trump and David Hadley, and I do not are which one votes for which one else.

Now, about the canvassing today ...

I met one family, who informed me of some very intriguing development in the city.

The household was entirely Republican.

One of the members of the family told me that she was voting for David Hadley because he sponsored a self-defense class for women.

Wow!

But there was more.

Her mother told me that she works at West High School.

She told me that she is voting for David Hadley for one simple reason (although I am certain she supports him for other reasons, too).

"He does not fall asleep during board meetings."

Indeed, that is true.

During the final marathon voting session on the Assembly floor, Hadley stayed seated to vote on every bill.

Even though he did get a little tired toward the end:

He stayed through the entire session, even though it dragged into September

"But he [Muratsuchi] would fall asleep during school board meetings!" the lady told me.

I also remember other stories, in which Muratsuchi would ignore parental complaints about mean girls bullying teammates in some of the girls' sports teams ...

Let's not forget that Muratsuchi did the bidding of the labor unions then, and he will bend and scrape to their will again if elected.

I was really surprised by what the mother told me next:

The teachers union is all over trying to get every faculty member to line up behind Al Muratsuchi.

She heard all about it on campus at West High. One of the union reps was raising her voice and arguing with other teachers. The conversation got really heated.

But the teachers are standing their ground.

"They told the rep to get out and go away.

"The West High teachers are not going to do what the teachers union tells them to.

West High teachers support Hadley!

"Tell David that the West High teachers have his back!"

AMAZING!

Democrats and Green party candidates are voting for David Hadley.

And now, one of the most powerful (and corrupting) special interests in the city of Torrance is fraying apart and more teachers, more fine professionals are bucking their forced union leader to support citizen legislator Hadley!

The Muratsuchi camp must be terrified!

Teachers for Hadley will help turn this election to Hadley's favor!

Vote for David Hadley Nov. 8th!
