Letter to the Editor: Completely Wrong on Assessment of Trump

Letter to the Editor:

First, I am 56 years old and was born and raised in California. With the exception of the four years I was stationed in South Carolina I lived and raised my kids in California. I retired from State employment in 2016 after 22 years when my injuries from a major submarine accident in the Navy forced me to retire early. In 2018 we left California as we could bo longer stomach the stupidity of the communist rule there.

I just read your opinion piece about Ron DeSantis leaving the race. I feel you are completely wrong in your assessment concerning Trump and the presidential race. DeSantis promised his constituents that if they gave him a second term he would fulfill the entirety of that term. I know a lot of people in Florida that wouldn't support him on that basis alone. As far as Trump failing to meet all of his promises; so the constant attacks from the communist Dems and RINOs in your estimation had nothing to do with his inability to accomplish his goals? There hasn't been any President since Lincoln that has had as much hate thrown at him as Trump. The leftists will never be punished for what they did to the election in 2020. They and the RINOs will continue the same evil deeds unless they are stopped. Trump being reelected will send a very loud message and maybe a majority of the Republicans in that swamp will run with it and fight to make the changes that need to be started. For way too long that swamp has been out of control and Trump is the one with the biggest mouth and strongest constitution that will be able to get the changes started. I don't like many of the attacks that come from Trumps mouth, but he needs to be the one to go back and get the changes he thinks need to be done started in the right direction. Otherwise the RINOs and communists will have won & from now on they will use the same playbook to destroy ANYONE that they believe threatens their established rule over us subjects

--Rick Neault

Rick:
Thanks for your letter. I am still surviving here in California. I notice your 530 area code. Are you from Redding, Siskiyou, Modoc?
Responding to some of your charges:
When did Governor Ron DeSantis promise to fulfill his second term, not run for President? He never made any pledge during the 2022 debates against Charlie Crist. If you can find that statement, then prove me wrong.
Regarding the attacks on Trump and his inability to keep his promises:
  1. He strong-armed many members of Congress to get The First Step Act. He could have done that with immigration, but didn't.
  2. Most of the laws empowering the President on border security already exist. They need to be enforced, but Trump did not do that.
  3. He could have taxed the remittances to Mexico to pay for the wall, but not only did he NOT do that, he made excuses about not doing it.
Yes, Abraham Lincoln faced a lot of hate, but he still got the job done.
Trump locked down the country following the COVID-19 outbreak. He didn't have to, and he even urged Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp as well as Gov. DeSantis to reinstate health mandates. He went along with all of it, undermining our constitutional Republic.
You talk about the Swamp being out of control. Could not agree with you more. Yet you have chief swamp creatures like Lindsey Graham who are supporting ... TRUMP! Please explain why that does not concern you. Don't forget that Trump signed off on not one, not two, but THREE bad budget bills, including the last one in 2020, which funded the Biden regime for nearly a year. Trump could have vetoed every one of those terrible budgets. He holds the blame for that, for the COVID lockdowns, for the $8 trillion increase in the national debt, for doing nearly nothing during the George Floyd riots. I notice that you have not refuted my criticisms of the President on those fronts.
In too many cases, Trump was his own worst enemy, picking fights where not needed, making big promises then backing away from them, and then making excuses for not getting things done.
And again, you have not refuted my points about Trump v. DeSantis. You confirm my argument, that many current Trump supporters are driven more by emotion and identity politics than reason, policy, or attention to detail.
Thanks for writing, and I will be sharing this letter.
Sincerely,

Arthur Schaper

New Hampshire MassResistance Stops Drag Queen Story Hour!

New Hampshire MassResistance parents stop Drag Queen show scheduled for local library

Library Board, Town Board, and Library Director all tried to subvert opposition, but the citizens won.

LGBT group backed off when the library was finally forced to follow its own rules.

October 23, 2023
ALT TEXT The LGBT movement is targeting children everywhere - even in rural New Hampshire.

When MassResistance organized a group of parents, they were able to stop a “Drag Story Hour” from coming to their library – despite roadblocks from the Library Board, Board of Selectmen, and adult LGBT activists.

‘Drag Story Hour’ coming to Lancaster, NH

Lancaster is a quiet, remote town in northern New Hampshire with a population of about 3,200. But like most of America, its public library hasn’t been spared the LGBT movement’s obsession with normalizing homosexuality and transgenderism to young children.

Back in early May, a few parents in Lancaster reached out to MassResistance. People had been noticing sexually explicit LGBT books for children (such as Gender Queer and All Boys Aren’t Blue) in their local Weeks Memorial Library. That was shocking enough.

ALT TEXT The Weeks Memorial Library in Lancaster, NH. It's not the kind of place where you'd expect a Drag show for children to be scheduled.

But then they discovered that a “Drag Story Hour” was scheduled to take place in the library in just a few weeks, on June 11, 2023. The event was organized by an adult LGBT group called “White Mountains Pride.” The Drag Queens (grown men dressed as a grotesque imitation of glamorous women) read LGBT books to children. The White Mountains Pride group was very clear about their purpose, which was to normalize deviant behaviors in the children’s young minds and so affect them all their lives:

DHS [Drag Story Hour] captures the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models.

ALT TEXT

Also, this hideous library event was to be on a Sunday, when the library is normally closed. This would result in expenses, including staffing, security, lighting, etc. How would these expenses be funded? According to library policy, the room is provided at no charge to non-profit groups. Would local tax dollars be used?

ALT TEXT Emoji Nightmare (in green dress), one of the Drag Queens scheduled to come, posted this photo on his website taken at another event for children.

This shouldn’t happen at all, the parents said. They were very distraught and did not know what to do to stop it.

MassResistance comes to their help!

MassResistance immediately jumped in to assist them. We helped them put together and distribute a flyer to alert and educate the community. That brought in lots of local people. We helped them organize and gave them a strategy.

One of the parents asked the Library Director about this event and the special Sunday opening for it. Her response was that she “did not want this to happen” but was being forced to or the town would be sued by the ACLU. But when asked for a letter or other threat of a lawsuit, she could not produce anything. This was particularly annoying, since the Library Director was ultimately responsible for placing the pornographic books in the children’s section of the library. So she was probably just parroting the American Library Association’s pro-LGBT talking points.

Making their case at the Library Trustees meeting

The parents made plans to have a group attend the upcoming Library Trustees meeting on May 8. Prior to the meeting, they sent strongly-worded emails to the Trustees describing the problems that they saw with the library holding this depraved event, requesting a list of the books to be read, and asking that the event not be allowed.

Tensions were rising in the community over this. A dozen parents attended the May 8 Library Trustee meeting. When they arrived, there were two police officers present to “keep them in line.”

At the start of the meeting, the Chairman immediately made a statement about the event. He told the parents:

  1. The library is not sponsoring the event. It is renting the room to White Mountains Pride, a local non-profit organization.
  2. The books read to kids by the Drag Queens will be from the library’s collection.
  3. It is purposefully being held on a Sunday to make sure it doesn’t interfere with the library’s normal operations.
  4. White Mountains Pride has specified a rule that an adult must be accompanied by a child and no child may attend without a parent.
  5. The programs in the library are the responsibility of the Library Director, not the Trustees. The Library Trustees only have general oversight of the budget, building, etc.
  6. The library has a policy of non-discrimination.

The Chairman meticulously avoided talking about the depraved content. He only referred to it as “the event,” though he claimed that he could not intervene because that would constitute “discrimination.”

Arrogant officials cut off the testimony. After the Chairman’s statement, there was testimony from the public. All the testimony was in opposition to the event.

Would the event be open to the public? During the testimony a few of the parents mentioned that the library's bylaws state that all events in the library are “open to the public.” This conflicted with the White Mountains Pride’s stipulation that its event is only open to adults accompanied by a child.

After 30 minutes, the Chairman became frustrated and stated that “the comments have become repetitive” and called for recess.

After the recess the Trustees came back and announced that the topic was closed, even though several more people were waiting to speak.

The Trustee Board stated that they would have their town attorney review whether the event would be open to the public. But it seemed obvious that the bylaws were very clear about that.

But besides that statement, the Library Trustees refused to take any action.

Continuing activism by the parents

Filling the event with parents! The MassResistance parents began planning to attend the June 11 Drag Show event, despite the White Mountains Pride's rule (that they must be with a child). They would arrive at the library well over an hour early to fill all the seats. It was obvious that the event had to be open to the public, and that no “attorney review” could change that.

Petition to ban the Drag event. In addition, our activists circulated a petition in Lancaster against the use of Weeks Memorial Library for a Drag event. Within a few weeks the petition obtained over 500 signatures.

On to the Board of Selectmen meeting

The next step was for parents to attend the town’s June 5 Board of Selectmen meeting, taking place just six days before the Drag Show event.

Prior to the meeting, the parents emailed each of the Selectmen (as well as other town officials) a polite but firm statement imploring them to “pressure the Library Trustees” to rescind the permission for the event.

As the parents entered the June 5 meeting, they noticed that three uniformed police officers were prominently seated there. It appeared to be an intimidation tactic. But the parents weren’t about to be intimidated. There was also a group of pro-LGBT activists there, who were also obviously there to intimidate the parents.

ALT TEXT When the parents came into the meeting room there were three police officers waiting for them.

At the beginning of the meeting the petition was presented to the three Lancaster Selectmen. It was hoped that this would demonstrate the strong feelings of the community. But they did not seemed moved at all by it.

When the public comments started, the parents spoke passionately about how this was a depraved and unhealthy event that the community did not want in their library, that it was being given special treatment on a Sunday, and that the Board should at least make a statement about it.

ALT TEXT A citizen explains to the Selectmen that the library is violating its own bylaws if it keeps the public from attending the event - or else the event has to be cancelled.

Then some of the pro-LGBT activists spoke up, using their usual talking points about love, inclusion, non-discrimination, not being narrow-minded, “freedom to read,” etc.

ALT TEXT This leftist repeated usual LGBT slogans of "acknowledging our differences," "treating people with respect," "a small group of people are against it," etc. Of course, she didn't address what this does to children, or ignoring the library rules.

After that, the Chairman of the Board of Selectmen spoke, basically claiming that there was nothing that the Board could do about the situation. They were refusing to take any action or even make a public statement to the Trustees.

ALT TEXT The Chairman of the Board of Selectmen (center) told the parents that there was "nothing" he could do.

The event gets cancelled!

Tension continued to grow after the Board of Selectmen meeting as the MassResistance parents’ plans to fill the event spread across the community. A lot of public officials were clearly becoming rattled.

Then on June 7, four days before the event, the local newspaper published an article stating that White Mountains Pride had cancelled their event!

It stated, "Organizers White Mountains Pride of North Conway called off the event Wednesday at the request of the library staff due to safety concerns.”

ALT TEXT People found out from the local newspaper!

Of course, their stated reason was offensive and possibly even libelous. There were no actual “safety concerns.” Unlike the LGBT movement’s lunatic activists, these opposing parents were always very civil and completely peaceful.

This was a great victory! And since then, the library has not attempted to bring the Drag event back!

Final thoughts

Parents were not intimidated by the phony requirement that children must enter with each adult, since the official policy read, “open to the public.” They also were not intimidated by the Library Director’s phony “ACLU lawsuit” argument or the Trustee Chairman calling it “discrimination.”

When we continue to resist the promotion of lies and take strong action, the Left often backs down.

It was great work by our activists in Lancaster, New Hampshire!

More Silver Linings: Democrats Abandoning Democratic Party Over Coronavirus Flap

Dr. Karlyn Borysenko likes to knit.

She's also political active.

And she is truly openminded. She became famous earlier this year when she attended a Trump rally in her native state of New Hampshire.

Here's the first part of the report that stands out:

You might not think of the knitting world as a particularly political community, but you’d be wrong. Many knitters are active in social justice communities and love to discuss the revolutionary role knitters have played in our culture. I started noticing this about a year ago, particularly on Instagram. I knit as a way to relax and escape the drama of real life, not to further engage with it. But it was impossible to ignore after roving gangs of online social justice warriors started going after anyone in the knitting community who was not lockstep in their ideology. Knitting stars on Instagram were bullied and mobbed by hundreds of people for seemingly innocuous offenses. One man got mobbed so badly that he had a nervous breakdown and was admitted to the hospital on suicide watch. Many things were not right about the hatred, and witnessing the vitriol coming from those I had aligned myself with politically was a massive wake-up call.

...

But when I witnessed the amount of hate coming from the left in this small, niche knitting community, I started to question everything. I started making a proactive effort to break my echo chamber by listening to voices I thought I would disagree with. I wanted to understand their perspective, believing it would confirm that they were filled with hate for anyone who wasn’t like them.

The Left has this unhinged, unending habit to make everything political. In the last three years, everything has turned into a fraught fight. Friends of theirs who admitted that they voted for Trump, or who have signalled their growing reluctance to allign with the Democratic Party, face unyielding hatred and outrage from these left-wing partisans.

Now, Dr. Borysenko still calls herself a liberal, but the fact that she could not enjoy the basic, fun pasttime of knitting without out the politicized vitriol proved too much for her.

Something was very wrong with the conduct of her left-wing peers, and she needed to take a step back.

Then she took a step forward and attended a Trump rally. Here's what she had to share:

Once we got inside, the atmosphere was jubilant. It was more like attending a rock concert than a political rally. People were genuinely enjoying themselves. Some were even dancing to music being played over the loudspeakers. It was so different than any other political event I had ever attended. Even the energy around Barack Obama in 2008 didn’t feel like this.

I had attended an event with all the Democratic contenders just two days prior in exactly the same arena, and the contrast was stark. First, Trump completely filled the arena all the way up to the top. Even with every major Democratic candidate in attendance the other night, and the campaigns giving away free tickets, the Democrats did not do that. With Trump, every single person was unified around a singular goal.

Instead of reproach and recrimination, Karlyn found lots of fun, wonderful people who were friendly and quiet welcoming. They were ... inclusive! She really enjoyed the atmosphere. At the end of the article, she does announce that she supported Pete Buttigieg for President.

However, she shared some very disturbing, sobering news for the Democratic Party:

I think the Democrats have an ass-kicking coming to them in November, and I think most of them will be utterly shocked when it happens, because they’re existing in an echo chamber that is not reflective of the broader reality. I hope it’s a wake-up call that causes them to take a long look in the mirror and really ask themselves how they got here. Maybe then they’ll start listening. I tend to doubt it, but I can hope.

And now that ass-kicking is official, since Dr. Karyln Borysenko has announced that she will be voting GOP in November. The Democratic Party in Washington DC is playing politics in this very, very difficult time. Even Governors in Democratic states are going out of their way to praise President Trump and the Trump Administration's efforts to do what is best for the American people, whether they live in New York, California, or Ohio.

President Trump is truly serving the people. He is acting as a President for all Americans, which is exactly what our leaders should be doing. Law enforcement, public safety, proper governance must serve the people of the United States, not just the Democrats, not just the Republicans.

The Democratic Party is leaving so many Americans behind. Registered Democrats already voted for President Trump in 2020. We have another liberal, who had recently disaffiliated with the party, declare that she was voting out every single Democrat she could in November 2020.

Indeed, the silver linings have become quite abundant following the Coronovirus outbreak. More Americans are finally seeing how un-American, how undemocratic the Democratic Party has become, and how they have put their party and their power differentials ahead of the well-being of the United States and her citizens.

New Hampshire GOP: Fight for the State House

Arthur...

I can't begin to tell you the excitement I've been feeling at the State House during this year's candidate filing period. It's encouraging to see so many new & returning Republicans stepping up to run for office.

Speaking of stepping up...Chairman Jeanie Forrester told me that the NHGOP has had an ongoing "money bomb" and that they've had 181 Republicans give $25 or more to help elect our candidates up and down the ballot!

Arthur, can you do me a huge favor and make an immediate contribution of $25 to ensure the legislature has a Republican Majority come November by following this link?

I thoroughly enjoy being your Speaker of the House and I am proud of the things we have accomplished this year. The filing period ends in a few hours. Let's make sure that we send Republicans back to Concord to continue helping our state flourish!

On to victory!

White House Wrap-Up: New Hampshire Opioid Crisis and Visit from Irish Prime Minister

What’s troubling New Hampshire
New Hampshire has had the second highest rate of opioid-involved overdose deaths in the Nation since 2014. A poll conducted last year found that drugs were the biggest problem facing the Granite State—the first time in the poll’s history that a majority named any single issue as the most important.
Today, President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump travel to Manchester, New Hampshire. The President will address America’s opioid epidemic at Manchester Community College and discuss his Administration’s initiative to stop opioid abuse and reduce drug supply and demand, which has four components:
1. Address the driving forces of the opioid crisis, including over-prescription, illicit drug supplies, and insufficient access to evidence-based treatment.
2. Reduce demand and over-prescription in part by educating Americans about the dangers of opioid and other drug use.
3. Cut off the supply of illicit drugs by cracking down on international and domestic supply chains that devastate American communities.
4. Help those struggling with addiction through evidence-based treatment and recovery support services.

New frontiers
Last week, President Trump took time during a cross-country trip to the U.S.-Mexico border to address military service members at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego, California.
The President touched on many themes, including thanking our hardworking military men and women for their service and dedication to the cause. He also charted a path forward, echoing themes from his National Space Council—a group chaired by Vice President Mike Pence that the President resurrected after a 24-year hiatus.
“From the very beginning, many of our astronauts have been soldiers, sailors, airmen, Coast Guardsmen and Marines,” the President said. “We're going to lead the way in space.”

Infrastructure: The Federal role
The Federal Government provides important infrastructure funding, but it often does so inefficiently and with numerous restrictions. Washington depends on taxpayers at the state and local level, yet Federal funding is too often directed by priorities of those inside the Beltway.
President Trump proposes to fix this problem by maintaining the traditional balance of Federal and non-Federal funding, while investing in a way that stretches every dollar and delivers on local needs. His proposal will keep existing Federal funding in place, including for the Highway Trust Fund.
The President’s plan would improve on existing policy by directing half of Federal funds to an Incentives Program for State and local applicants. This system keeps infrastructure decisions out of the D.C. bureaucracy and in State and local hands.
