Shawn Steel: California Went Blue Because of Voter Fraud--But So Much More

When a 14-point Republican lead disappears
By Shawn Steel -- Tuesday, November 27, 2018

ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Young Kim was poised to become the first Korean-American woman elected to Congress.

Her 14-point lead was the lone bright spot on an otherwise dismal night for Orange County Republicans. But, over the past week, Republicans have watched the first-generation immigrant’s lead evaporate. With thousands of provisional ballots left to count, her commanding lead is now underwater. She lost one week after the election.

There’s no evidence of ballot box shenanigans. No need. Democrats know it’s easier to erode voter integrity laws than to stuff ballot boxes.

How does a 14-point Republican lead disappear? Merciless and unsparing, California Democrats have systematically undermined California’s already-weak voter protection laws to guarantee permanent one-party rule.

Non-Citizen Voting: California has expanded voter eligibility — with some communities granting illegal immigrants the right to vote. In 2016, San Francisco approved a measure that allows “people in the country illegally and other noncitizens the right to vote in a local election,” according to the Associated Press. This year, San Francisco spent $310,000 in tax dollars to register 49 non-citizens to vote in a school board election.

Inmate Voting: Not to be outdone, neighboring Alameda County organized taxpayer-funded voter registration drives in county jails to register a record number of inmates. California law allows convicted criminals in county jails, on probation, on mandatory supervision, on post-release community supervision, or on federal supervised release to vote. Just about the only criminals barred from voting in California are felons in prison or on parole.

Felon Voting: Even California felons have been enfranchised, a side effect of California’s radical criminal justice experiments. By downgrading numerous crimes from felonies to misdemeanors, Proposition 47 has enfranchised tens of thousands of convicted criminals previously barred from voting while on parole. The state’s prisoner early release program has also expanded the voter rolls. In 2015, 60,000 convicted felons officially regained their voting rights after the state refused to appeal a lower-court decision that would have denied them the right to vote.

Motor Voter Fraud: Every person in California that interacts with the Department of Motor Vehicles is automatically registered to vote. This has predictably led to tens of thousands cases of voter registration problems. The state’s Motor Voter program has come under fire for double registering as many as 77,000 people and registering as many as 1,500 ineligible voters. The state’s bipartisan oversight agency expressed concerns about “serious problems with ensuring that the New Motor Voter Program works as intended and promised.” In October, the Little Hoover Commission called for an independent audit of the program and warned that “voter confidence in a fair and legitimate electoral process will be undermined, if not shattered.”
16-and-17 Year-Old Pre-Registration: This cycle also marked the beginning of California’s pre-voter registration program for 16- and 17-year-olds. Of course, if every voter is automatically registered through the Motor Voter program, why would anyone need to pre-register? Pre-registration is a thinly-veiled effort to capture voters while they’re young and more likely to identify as liberal Democrats. Of the nearly 89,000 minors that participated in the program, only 10 percent registered as Republicans.

Absentee Ballots Automatically Mailed to Every Voter: In 2016, California approved a new law that allows counties to mail every voter an absentee ballot. This election, every voter in Madera, Napa, Nevada, Sacramento and San Mateo counties received an absentee ballot — whether they requested one or not. Beginning in 2020, every county in California except one will be allowed to follow suit. Outrageously, Democrats carved out a special exception for Los Angeles County, where they maintain a significant advantage in voter registration numbers. In just four years, the number of absentee ballots distributed in California has increased by 44 percent. “Nearly 13 million voters have received a ballot in the mail, compared to just 9 million in the last gubernatorial election in 2014,” notes Paul Mitchell, vice president of Political Data Inc.

Ballot Harvesting: Is illegal in most states. But not California. As if it wasn’t enough for every person to be automatically registered to vote and receive a ballot, Democrats have made it easier for their campaign operatives to collect those absentee ballot. Also in 2016, state lawmakers eliminated the ballot protection law that enabled only a trusted family member to return another voter’s ballot. Assembly Bill 1921 now allows anyone to return an absentee ballot. The law has encouraged campaign operatives to engage in coercive tactics. One Democrat voter described coercive intimidation tactics employed by a Democrat campaign in a 2017 special election, leading even the liberal Los Angeles Times editorial board to criticize the law.

Conditional Ballots: California has effectively adopted same-day voter registration with the introduction of “conditional voting.” This election cycle, voters who missed the 15-day voter registration deadline could request to cast a conditional ballot.

Ballots Accepted Up to Week After Election Day: In California, voting doesn’t stop on Election Day. Absentee ballots need only be postmarked by Election Day, with ballots counted that arrive up to three days late. If ballots are sent to the wrong county, the ballot is valid for an additional four days. As Mr. Mitchell points out, “That means you literally have seven days after an election where a county could still be receiving legitimate ballots.”

Second Chance for Rejected Ballots: Just 50 days before the election, Democrats snuck in one more change to the state’s absentee voting laws. In September, Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law Senate Bill 759, which requires elections officials to notify every voter whose ballot was rejected due to a mismatched signature.

This election, a 14-point lead wasn’t enough for a Republican victory. By 2020, a 20-point lead on Election Night won’t be safe.

Lyin' Ted Helps Heavin' Harley Against Dana Rohrabacher

Lyin' Ted Lieu is not serving his own district.

What's he doing in Orange County going after Dana Rohrabacher?

This is nothing short of disgusting.

Please, people, vote for Dana!

I'm Congressman Ted Lieu, and I approve this message: Harley Rouda will make one great congressman.
I've been tweeting and cheering Harley on as his campaign has gained momentum and captured national attention. His takedowns of California's most vulnerable Congressman, Dana Rohrabacher, are epic.
But that's not what makes Harley stand out as a leader for the future.
Harley has vision. Principles. Smarts. And a dogged determination to do right by the people of his district and the nation.
Harley Rouda can make all the difference.
Ted Lieu stands with Harley Rouda
When I joined Congress in 2015, the House of Representatives seemed pretty polarized. But I had not seen anything yet...
Today, we desperately need leaders in Congress who work across the aisle to solve problems like gun violence, immigration injustice, income inequality, and global warming. And we need leaders who will serve as a check on a corrupt president who thinks he's above the law.
Harley is that kind of leader.
Harley is leading in the polls because he has a vision for how we can grow the economy. He opposes the GOP tax-scam, which cuts taxes for the Mar-a-Lago set, while raising taxes on the middle class.
And, unlike Dana Rohrabacher, Harley has never been given a codename by Putin.

Oregon GOP: Help Us Fight Oregon Democrats' Dark Money

Hi there Arthur Christopher,

Let me level with you...the Oregon Democrats are outraising us because of out-of-state dark money.  Kate Brown and their entire Democrat federal delegation are pouring money into their coffers.  Leftist Billionaires such as George Soros and Tom Steyer are writing big checks and funneling cash into radical activist groups to help them even more.  We just don't have that luxury...

Knute Buehler can win this race and take back the Governor’s seat after over two long decades of liberal democrat control.  I need to show our candidates up and down the ballot that the Oregon GOP is strong and will have their backs from now until November and beyond.

Honestly, I really can't do that without you.

I’ve set a goal to reach $5,000 by Friday afternoon. I want our candidates to know that we will be side-by-side with them as they door knock and meet voters, and that we will provide them winning resources around the clock.

I plan on Republicans winning big in Oregon this November, but I can't do it without your dedication and continued support.

Your friend,
Bill Currier

Make California Great Again: Cox Gaining on Newsom in Latest Poll

This news is nothing short of incredible.

John Cox was seen as a nonentity who didn't have a chance after the June primary. Granted, pundits and activists across the country recognized that we need a Republican at the top of the ticket who would ensure a higher turnout across the state and help the down-ticket candidates.

Cox seems to have been MIA for a while.

Hopefully, this is going to change, and with good reason.

The latest polling indicates that many voters are still undecided about Gavin Newsom, and Cox is gaining ground!

SACRAMENTO — A newly released research poll from Opinion Research on Elections and Public Policy shows Republican John Cox is closing the gap between himself and Democrat Gavin Newsom in the race for California’s next Governor.

This is really good news. Who would have thought that this could be done?

Nine-hundred voters participated in the survey between August 29 and September 2.

The results show Newsom at 44 percent, Cox at 39 percent and 17 percent of voters are unsure.

With such a large share of undecided voters, there is a growing change for swing into action and win this fight. The Republican Governors Association is pledging money to help Cox as well as other Republican candidates in otherwise blue states.

The survey also shows Cox is well outperforming his GOP base – fewer than 25 percent of of California voters – and captures a similar percentage of the Latino voters as Newsom.

The two candidates are getting an equal share of the Hispanic vote at this time!

The election for Governor of California will be held on November 6. The winner will assume office on January 7, 2019.

This can be done.

We need everyone to put aside their bitterness and vote for John Cox for Governor.

Let's Make California Great Again!

Trump Supporters vs. Barack Obama at Anaheim Convention Center (Full Report)

On Thursday, September 6, the local press finally informed the public where President Barack Obama was going to hold his rally in Orange County. Two days prior, they had informed readers that the former President was coming, but they had no idea where specifically.

I suspect that the press did not record where he was going because his organizers had no idea where to put him. At first they were going to have him speak in one of the large ballrooms at the Anaheim center. Then they ultimately settled for a side room. The first room can hold up to 5,000 people, according to one report.

The number of people who ultimately attended? Between 750 and 800.

Now that is a pretty stingy little number of people, especially for a former president. Obama was supposed to be this big time Messiah for the county, the guy who would bring the hope and change to make everything all well and good in the country.

Here's the full YouTube Live video that I took at the convention center:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxaQDfCw_TI

Not only did that not happen, but many of the Democrats who had supported him walked away, and they voted for Donald Trump. Many of those voters are now fully in the Trump camp and they support Republican candidates cross the board. This development is truly exciting.

So, when we Trump supporters heard about Obama coming to Anaheim, we knew that we wanted to counter-protest.

Crystal Jade helped set up our network of activists, and we showed up Saturday morning right outside the convention center.

Check out our first set of protests:

We had some new people join us, too, men and women who haven't had the chance to protest with us in the past.

Some of the passers-by yelled at us, but some of them were quite supportive, including residents living across or down the street from us.

One of Omar Navarro's campaign staffers joined us, too:

One source told us that President Obama was going to drive down Transit Plaza to enter the convention.

I didn't wait, but went to join with another one of our fellow Trump supporters, who was closer to the entrance:

Robert Lauten speaking with a local reporter

Robert Lauten joined with another Trump supporter to blare out that all of the Russia-Collusion nonsense was going nowhere fast. I can't wait for President Trump to declassify all the FISA warrants and other redacted reports exposing the abusive, corrupt, treacherous Deep State.

For me, seeing the line of Democrats and pro-Obama people was what this was all about.

I love questioning and confronting these liberals on their fanatical appreciation of Barack Obama. Di they forget so quickly that Obama and the Clintons robbed Bernie Sanders?

Check out the first set of people whom I confronted:

Most of the liberals were pretty shallow in their attacks against me. The most disrespectful people in line were the elderly women. They would routinely flip me off. Is that how they behave in front of their grandchildren? Let's hope they don't have any!

One of the people in line said that Trump was a traitor. Why? He couldn't tell me.

I saw so many people promoting Gil Cisneros for Congress. This guy has serious #MeToo issues, and former campaign volunteers have called him out on his sexual harassment. I also saw David Min, the rude Asian-American Democrat who ran against Mimi Walters in the primary, and he had also shown up to a few of our protests outside of Mimi Walters' office earlier this year.

He didn't have much to say when I mocked him for losing big time in the primary. "That's what you get for not talking to your prospective constituents."

Claudio, the staffer who works in Congressman Lou Correa's office in Santa Ana, was also there. He was really scared when he saw us Trump supporters. He walked away as fast as he could, then buried himself in the line into the Convention Center room.

Then some of the Brown Supremacists showed up! They went to counter-protest our counter-protest! FUNNY!

They made little difference.

It's so strange how the left wants to smear Trump supporters as a bunch of racist white supremacists.

Our group of Trump supporters showed far more diversity than the Democrats lining up to see Obama. Many of us were more than happy to speak with the press and with other people lining up or waiting to get inside.

One lady, born in France but living in the United States, argued with me about health care, and she said that we should have a health care system more like France. There are two aspects to the French system which should be adopted: the medical professionals often bring the emergency room to the patient, in the hopes that they can resolve the issue fully at the person's home. That's a wise move which saves resources in a hospital for those who really need it. The French health care system is also tort averse, in that people cannot just run to court and sue every time something goes wrong health wise.

The reason why Kaiser Permanente provides quality health care at a price which many people can afford is that they resolve health issues and lawsuits through alternate dispute mediation. They have also stayed out of the Obamacare insurance markets, which jacked up the prices while taking away choices.

The lady from France was more respectful than most of the people in line. I saw some of my more friendly political opponents there, including Tom the Vietnamese American, who was born and raised in Whittier, CA.

Another lady called me a racist because I was confronted the Brown Supremacist bigot Robert "Naui" Hernandez. About ten minutes later, she came back to me to ask a serious question. I told it was not OK for her to call me "racist", and she acknowledged that was wrong. Then we had a very civil, productive discussion about health care issues. She told me about her father, who had passed away from cancer. I told her about my Dad who has been able to stave off serious cancer issues, too.

Reporters showed up after the smattering of Democrats entered the convention center.

We talked with them for a while, too:

Final Reflection

I sent this message to a friend of mine after our Trump counter-protest to the Obama rally:

It went so well! I have never had so much fun in in so many months. All of these silly liberals were lined up to go into this very little room. The Anaheim Convention Center had originally set aside Ballroom E for Obama, but the numbers that came were much smaller than anticipated! Ultimately about 700 people attended his little rally in a little room.

Major fail! I don't think people realize, but a lot of people don't like Barack Obama and the Democratic Party anymore. They see him as way too corporate. I had so much fun on the outside triggering and trolling some of the Liberals, many of whom could not explain why they hate Donald Trump. There were other people however, whom I had very civil discussions with. I enjoyed talking with them. All the emails, photos, and videos are going to be uploaded in the next 24 hours. I am so tired right now. I have to rest, but thanks for reaching out.

We assembled a pretty decent team of Trump supporters despite getting information about the details of this event at the last minute.

We had a lot of fun.

I am glad that members of We the People Rising along with LA County and OC for Trump showed up, too:

I liked that we had a diverse group of people show up, and were willing to do on an early Saturday morning, to boot. One of the reasons why I had come to this event was to see how many people would actually turn out to see former President Barack Obama.

How staggering it was that so few showed up to see this has-been. His legacy has all but disappeared after less than two years. The hope and change which Obama promised, Trump has delivered for the American people. The voters in this country rejected the regressive leftists bigotry of the Democratic Party and their increasingly socialist leanings. If the Democrats don't learn from history and pay attention to the fact that their numbers are dwindling across the country, they will probably face in deeper losses going into November.

I sincerely doubt that Democrats are going to pick up the requisite number of seats needed to gain the House Majority next year. The fact is that they are not properly targeting the right seats. The radical progressive base is turning off mainstream voters, many of whom now have new work and better pay. The more wealthy the average American becomes, the less likely they are to support tax hikes, regulatory burdens, and rampant assaults against their individual liberties.

California 2018 Primary: Wave Good-Bye to the Democratic Party Blue Wave (House Races)

The California Democratic Party put so much time and effort to generate a blue wave in the Golden State.

The the latest results from the June 5th, 2018 primary suggest that instead of a wave, maybe a ripple was generated. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee hoped to target seven seats in California to win the majority.

Here are the seats:

1. CD-10, Jeff Denham
2. CD-21, David Valadao
3. CD-25, Steve Knight
4. CD-39, Ed Royce
5. CD-45, Mimi Walters
6. CD-48, Dana Rohrabacher
7. CD-49, Darrell Issa

Oh, and for added measure, let's add their big plans to take on Devin Nunes in CD-22 and Duncan Hunter Jr. in CD-50, just for added measure.

Of course, the fawning, left-wing media is all aglow about the Democrats' chances.

But let's really assess the Democratic strategy overall and the "wins" they have chalked up going into the November 2018 general  election.

1. The National Democratic Party is targeting those seats in California because Hillary Clinton bested Donald Trump in those contests. The political logic behind those decisions is flawed, in my opinion, because ticket-splitting is very common among California and American voters, i.e. voters will often vote for for a Republican Congressional candidate (or incumbent) while voting for a Democratic Presidential candidate, or vice versa.

Bob Huff, who ran unsuccessfully for Congress in CD-39, pointed this idea out during his visit to the North Orange County Republican Club in Fullerton two weeks ago. I agreed with him, and I think his take on the matter was quite accurate.

2. The fact that Democratic operatives in California targeted Devin Nunes and Duncan Hunter proves how out of touch, completely delusional they have become.

Here are the latest numbers from the California Secretary of State for those two incumbents:

Devin Nunes:

Nunes earned a higher perfecntage of the vote than all his other challengers combined.

Duncan Hunter Jr.:

Hunter faced opposition from other Republicans, and some of these challenges from the right have emerged because of investigation into Hunter's alleged campaign finance misuses.

Yet despite all of that, the Republican tally exceeds the Democratic tally, and Hunter will have no problems getting re-elected, even if he gets indicted, convicted, disgraced, or anything else. Another Republican could win the seat easily in a special election if Hunter has to step down. I doubt any of this will happen, however.

The final summary on this item? The California and National Democratic Parties were not just idealistic in their aims, but delusional to the degree of mental illness. They actually thought that Nunes' and Hunter's seats could be in play. And they are not.

3. As much as I do not care for Denham and Valadao's aggressive pushes for amnesty, they are the better of the Democratic contenders. The liberals running in these seats will turn into crappier, uglier, more progressive versions of Jim Costa  in CD-16. The fact is that for the last three cycles, Democrats have tried to find the best candidates to throw out Denham and Valadao, but nothing has stuck. The two candidates are too well-known, tied to the region to face any substantive opposition. Big names like Dolores Huerta, for example, have stood behind Democratic contenders to promote them, but it just hasn't worked. These two incumbents will cruise to re-election because as farmers tied to their land just like many of their constituents, they know the issues all too well and are willing to fight the hardest for water, for land, for less regulation--and yes, for cheaper labor.

Hello, Blue Wave!

4. The four seats in Orange County were the prime picks for Democratic pick-ups. So much so, that the Indivisible groups and Open Border advocates were routinely harassing local Congressional representatives. It doesn't look like their chances are going to measure up to anything strong or "wave-like" going into November.

Mimi Walters' office deal with these left-wing protesters repeatedly, and a few times I showed up to counterprotest along with constituents in the district who want their rights respected and their property protected.

There were so many Democrats running in these districts, that Democratic leaders feared that they would split the vote inexorably and allow two Republicans to sneak into the Top Two. I wanted that "Miller Effect" to occur, but that was not to be.

And yet ... Democratic turnout was not strong, and the final numbers for those districts suggest that the two incumbents will do very well, and the fight for the two open seats will be harder than expected for the Democratic Party.

Let's start with CD-45, Mimi Walters' seat:

Walters did better than all the other candidates, combined, especially David Min, who was the most active progressive targeting this seat. He was particularly rude to me and a constituent named Kenny Straw--and now David Min is gone!

Ha Ha! Cousin Mimi will have no problem holding onto her house seat in November.

What about Dana Rohrabacher? He was facing intense challenges from the left AND from the right, including former OCGOP Chairman Scott Baugh.

What happened on Primary Day?

The total tally for Republican candidates and Democratic candidates breaks down like this:

GOP total 58,080
Dem total: 50,266

GOP turnout was higher, but it's getting pretty close. Rohrbacher is facing a fight this time. Hopefully, however, the big money will come in to make sure that rides whatever blue wavelet comes through Surf City.

Rohrabacher is one of the most vocal opponents to illegal immigration, so no one should be surprised that Democrats are throwing everything they have at him to get him out office.

This race will probably be the closest of his career, but he will win.

Go Dana!

Now what about the open seats?

CD-39, Ed Royce's seat, is open since Royce opted not to run again. He should have thrown his hat in the ring, since he exceeded his Democratic contender by double digits in 2016.

The campaign for the seat was a full-on free for all:

Here's the breakdown on the final voter tally:

GOP total: 44, 037
Dem total: 37,873

This turnout was lower than the turnout in CD-48, for starters, which is remarkable in itself, since an open seat usually generates more attention if not at least more voters.

The fact remains that more Republicans than Democrats voted in the primary.  Young Kim is the top vote-getter, followed by Gil Cisneros.

That's bad news for the Democrats, because one of Gil's former volunteers charged him with sexual harassment. Uh-Oh! Kim would be wise to hammer Cisneros for his #MeToo perversities. One report also suggests that Cisneros is a closet Republican! OUCH! What will Democrats do come November in CD-39?

Check out what the former staffer shared about Gil:

I predict that because of Royce's endorsement and prior service in his office, followed by the growing Asian-American voting contingent in the district, Young Kim will be the next representative. The rancor within the Democratic Party is too great for Bernie-crat progressives to look past the #MeToo shame and the Big Money spent by Cisneros to buy the nomination.

Now for the most likely target for the Democrats: CD-49.

How did that turn out?

Here's the vote breakdown:

CD-49
GOP total: 54,136

Dem total: 56,488

Oceanside, we have a problem.

Yikes! Democrats outperformed Republicans in this district. I am a little shocked, especially since South Orange County is one of the most conservative sections of California and Orange County. North San Diego County has a lot of military brass, too. Why would the district be shifting like this?

Congressman Darrell Issa was losing support steadily over the last four years, that's true. He had angered Republicans as well as Democrats, which best explains why he was struggling to stay in office. Democrats are really fired up about this race, and it would be quite a notch in their belt to take the seat which had belonged to the former House Oversight Committee Chairman.

The Republican endorsed by both county parties and House Leadership, Diane Harkey, was the top vote-getter. Whom will she challenge going into the general election? While the California Secretary of State has listed the election as a "close contest", Mike Levin is the next highest vote-getter, and currently he is 2,000 votes ahead of Sara Jacobs, another Democrat.

Diane Harkey has the support from all the major conservative players, and to her credit she shoved down Rocky Chavez, a full-on RINO who had backstabbed every conservative and every major party leader in the region. So glad that he is gone.

But can Harkey make up the small difference and win? This contest will be the most bitter, expensive campaign in the state. Just you watch. I would have to say 50/50 for now that it will stay in GOP hands, but Republicans cannot rest or take anything for granted.

Summary for Orange County

The worse case scenario, we will lose one house seat: CD-49. But if that's the best that the Democrats can get, it will hardly measure up to a blue wave of any kind.

5. Democrats are also targeted CD-25, Steve Knight's seat.

How did he do on primary day?

Steve Knight, the only Republican on the ballot, earned more than 50% of the vote.

He will win re-election, especially because his likely challenger, Katie Hill, is a full-on progressive who was caught on camera supporting single-payer healthcare, but then will work hard to downplay that progressive image to the conservative voters of the 25th Congressional district. Knight was first elected in 2014, running against another Republican in the Top Two. Despite some of the changing demographics in the district, Knight is a very popular representative with the basic voting public. His tenure in the state senate is still well-known, and despite some of his dithering on immigration issues, he will be a solid lock for re-election going into November.

Final Reflection

The Democratic wave crashed in California in 2018, just as Republican waves across the country had crashed in this state during past elections cycles. Finally, Republicans are looking strong going into the November General Elections.

Last of all, let's not forget that we have a number of qualified contenders at the top of the ticket, including John Cox (yes, I wrote that), and Steve Bailey for Attorney General. At all costs, let's get rid of Xavier Becerra. We must have a law enforcement who respects the rule of law, as opposed to a lawless ideologue pushing a destructive, abusive agenda.

People, the Blue Wave was media hype at its worst, a flabby myth flailing away.

Here comes the Red Wave, people, and even here in California it will start to crest for once.
