Some people just want to provoke a response.
Others wish to voice their unbelief or doubt in a position or view.
And yes, there is the vast majority of people who ask questions in order to get answers.
Here, Ben Shapiro confronts the false humility of those who are "just asking questions," when in reality they wish to cast doubt and aspersions on a person's mind and motives:
When Zachariah the High Priest questions the Angel Gabriel, he was expressing doubt.Every conservative “influencer” should have to watch this on repeat pic.twitter.com/anpoUBKFsL

When Mary, the earthly mother of Jesus, questioned the Angel Gabriel, she was expressing doubt.
When Sennacharib questions King Hezekiah via a letter, he was ridiculing him and the people of Israel.
Right now, what we are seeing on the Right is lots of commentators wanting to promote themselves by "just asking questions" about Ben Shapiro and his support for Israel.
They are not asking questions, they are making allegations without having the courage to state those allegations. They are questioning his and other people's motives, without offering an evidence or reason for their assertions.
This is bad faith, and no one should take them seriously.
