RNC Statement on House Democrats Voting to Defund Law Enforcement

Washington, D.C. – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Joe Gruters released the following statement after 211 House Democrats voted against critical funding for federal law enforcement: “House Democrats’ main constituency is illegal immigrants and criminals,” said Chairman Gruters. “Democrats have now voted dozens of times against funding ICE, Border Patrol, and DHS, repeatedly siding with open borders over law and order. While President Trump and Republicans secure the border and enforce our laws, Democrats continue to obstruct the very agencies who protect Americans.” Background: House Democrats voted against legislation providing critical funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). More than $38 billion for ICE More than $26 billion for Customs and Border Protection   Senate and House Democrats have now voted 37 times against border security.
