Drag Queen Story Hour Facing Pushback -- FINALLY!

Here's a great op-ed which featured the efforts of MassResistance to push back and stop the Drag Queen Story Hour program in Chula Vista, CA.

This was a pretty decent op-ed, actually. It's about time that more mainstream media reporters paid attenton to the great work that MassResistance is doing to stop this madness.

By PETER ROWE -- SEP 15, 2019 | 8:01 AM

There are several ways to look at the "Drag Queen Storytime" held last Tuesday in Chula Vista. Here's Tony Villafranca's view:

"They are going after the kids in their formative years with a very aggressive agenda or ideology aimed at 3- to 8-year-olds," said Villafranca, a South Bay real estate agent. "It is basically the normalizing of that whole LGBT drag queen pedophilia lifestyle. This is brainwashing."

For an alternate take, consider Lillian Faderman's view:

"It's children's entertainment," said Faderman, curator of the San Diego History Center's recent exhibit on the area's LGBTQ legacy. "I don't think drag queens are trying to convert children to a way of life. Kids respond to its color and its charm and its funniness, and they are entertained."

For years, drag queens have read picture books to young audiences in public libraries. These sessions often prompt protests like the dueling rallies seen outside Chula Vista public library's Civic Center branch last Tuesday. Separated by barriers patrolled by police, the two camps confronted each other with signs and slogans for hours.

"No hate. no fear," Storytime supporters chanted, "everybody's welcome here!"

"We are praying for you," a protester responded over a bullhorn. "Sodomy will never save you. Transgenderism will never save you..."

Arthur Schaper said his group, MassResistance, wanted to shield youngsters from "illicit entertainment."

"These are adult entertainers," said Schaper, a Torrance resident and organizer of the self-described "pro-family activist group." "It's not hateful to protect children. They have to stop pushing this agenda, this false LGBT agenda, stop pushing this on the youngest, most vulnerable members of our community."

They got everything that I said spot on. I was really grateful for this coverage.

Supporters counter that these programs are tailored to youngsters. There's nothing sexual about the readings or readers, even if the latter are decked out in flamboyant gowns and layers of glitter and mascara.

The gaslighting is unprecedented. We are talking about drag queens, sexually explicit entertainers, reading to children. There is nothing about any of this that is properly tailored for youngsters. Nothing at all.

"They are doing what they love," said Adrianna Villaseñor, 10, who attended with her mother and little sister. "And loving what they are doing."

When the library scheduled this presentation months ago, City Librarian Joy Whatley anticipated some opposition. Still, she was unprepared for the volume of calls, emails, picketers.

She should have known better, and the city of Chula Vista learned the hard way that the community did not want such filth in their city.

"I'm slightly overwhelmed," she said. "We didn't expect this to be such a huge thing."

Still, she had no regrets: "We're diverse, we're inclusive, we welcome all."

Sex offenders are welcome around children, too?

But was this the right venue for Barbie Q and Raquelita, last week's readers? John Renison Jr., an aspiring Republican politician from the South Bay, started a change.org petition calling for the library to cancel the event. His text professed support for the LGBTQ community and "equal rights for all citizens but this is something else. There's a fine line that's being crossed!

This approach is all wrong. There is no such thing as an "LGBT community", and we should stop treating sexual perversions and natural and innate behaviors. Enough is enough!

"There is no reason to indoctrinate our children with these ideals."

By the time the show started, 10 days after posting the petition, Renison had 611 signatures.

While drag queen storytime is a recent phenomenon, male actors have performed as women for centuries. From ancient Greece through Elizabethan England, plays' female roles were traditionally played by men. In one form or another, that custom endured almost into the present.

Men playing female characters is something completely different from drag entertainment. It is comparing apples to rotten oranges.

"In vaudeville, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, this was very common," said Faderman, author "The Gay Revolution: The Story of the Struggle," a 2015 history. "This was considered family entertainment."

Julian Eltinge, a popular vaudeville female impersonator, later starred in silent films. In his alter ego, the lovely and innocent "Vesta Tilley," he became one of the era's highest paid actors. With his earnings, he built a palatial Hollywood mansion, Villa Capistrano, and bought a ranch in Alpine.

"Some of the highest paid drag queens in the past have identified as heterosexual," Faderman said. "It has nothing to do with sexual behavior. It has everything to do with entertainment."

But the whole Drag Queen Story Hour program is about normalizing sexual perversion like homosexuality. The book that the two drag queens read, "Julian is a Mermaid", has a picture of boy stripping down and putting on makeup. That is subtle pedophilia, to put it mildly.

While drag entertainers were widely accepted in their professional roles, authorities frowned on cross-dressing when it occurred off stage. From the mid-19th century until the close of the 20th century, many U.S. cities forbade people from — to quote an 1848 Columbus, Ohio, statute — publicly wearing "a dress not belonging to his or her sex." San Diego's ban was on the books until 1998.

That ban should be restored!

Starting in the 1930s, though, nightclubs with floor shows featuring men in drag opened in New York, San Francisco and other cities. San Diego's Show Biz Supper Club began its 14-year run in 1968, while a successor, North Park's Lips, is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Today, the acts are a bit more risque than they were in the days of chaste Vesta Tilley.

There you go! "Risque" is the word. There is no way that anyone can claim that that kind of trash has any right or reason being around children!

"Guests 16+ are welcome to enjoy dinner and (select) shows," the Lips web site notes, "but please — leave the kids at home!"

HOW ABOUT THAT! "Leave the kids at home!" That says it all, doesn't it?

Telling Stories

Chula Vista's presentation was dubbed "Drag Queen Storytime," to distinguish it from "Drag Queen Story Hour," a four-year-old San Francisco-based international organization with a trademarked name. Story Hour, its website says, "captures the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models.

What a crock! No one bought into it.

"In spaces like this, kids are able to see people who defy rigid gender restrictions and imagine a world where people can present as they wish, where dress up is real."

This year, Story Hour's San Diego chapter has hosted three sessions in a private City Heights event space, You Belong Here.

"The response has been overwhelmingly positive," said Alexandra Ott, the local chapter's organizer. "Every time the kids are thrilled to be in an environment where someone is reading to them, and being with other kids."

In contrast to the Chula Vista event, there were no protesters. Ott credits this to the fact that the shows were not widely advertised.

Ott selected the drag queens from a list of local performers who had already undergone background checks. This is a sensitive subject — earlier this year in Texas, Mass Resistance reported that at least two Drag Queen Story Hour performers were registered sex offenders.

"That made international news," Schaper said.

In Chula Vista, the performers did not undergo a law enforcement background check. But like all volunteers coming to the library for fewer than 24 hours, they were subject to a level of scrutiny.

Well, well, well. And the mayor and city council in Chula Vista claimed unequivocally that the drag queens had received background checks. What fresh hell is this?

"We check their professional affiliations," City Librarian Whatley said, "check references, talk to other librarians who may have worked with them."

Whatley and her team also met with the Chula Vista Police Department. "Just to have a safe family event," she said, "that's what we are looking at."

While physical violence has never marred a Draq Queen Story Hour event, these sessions can be emotionally bruising. In January, the Putnam County, Tenn., library's meeting room was rented by the local Story Hour chapter. On the scheduled day, entering the library meant passing a boisterous scrum of protesters and counter-protesters.

"Children were in tears," said Phil Schaller, the library director.

The parents who brought the children to the program should have been in a jail cell.

In Leander, Tex., an Austin suburb, the city council last month voted to stop renting meeting rooms in the public library to any group. Among those whose planned event was scotched: Drag Queen Story Hour. City officials insisted the step was taken for financial, rather than ideological reasons, reporting that this year's rental fees had amounted to $1,800, while security had cost $20,000.

MassResistance was instrumental in stopping that program there, too.

Rival Camps

In Chula Vista, rival spiritual camps formed on either side of the Story Time issue. More than 70 religious figures — from Methodist and Lutheran ministers to Catholic priests and a Jewish rabbi — signed an open letter praising the library's decision.

Those "religious figures" are not religious. They are apostate.

"It is clear that the opposition to this event is rooted in homophobia, bigotry, xenophobia, and discrimination," the letter said. "As faith leaders and people of faith, we believe that discrimination of any kind is an affront to the core values of our faith, and strongly oppose the use of faith as a weapon to threaten the future of events such as Drag Queen Story Hours."

Instead of trying to defend the perverse notion that it was OK to have sex offenders or sexually explicit entertainers around children, they decide to hate the parents, the grandparents, the pastors, and other community leaders who opposed the program. What a shameful display of hate!

Several Pentecostal churches staked out the opposite position. At a Sept. 4 rally on the steps of City Hall, Pastor Art Hodges of the South Bay Pentecostal Church said he didn't object to parents taking their children to a drag queen event. He objected to Story Time's site: a taxpayer-funded library.

"They're the parents, we're not protesting their right," Hodges told News10. "But they should do that privately, on their own time, in their own place, on their own dollar."

(Days later, South Bay Pentecostal was vandalized, with the words "Lucifer" and "Satan" painted on the exterior. At press time, police had no suspects.)

So much for "Love is Love" and "Love Trumps Hate", right?

Sister Donatella Soul, a self-described "drag nun," countered that Drag Queen Storytime needed to be held in a city facility. "It's important, especially in civic spaces, for people in different communities to have access," she said.

Libraries are increasingly open to once-ignored populations. The San Diego Public Library, for instance, has an San Diego Public Library's LGBTQIA Library Services Committee. (The letters stand for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, intersex, and asexual or allied.) This June, Pride Month, the library system issued "LGBT Pride" commemorative cards.

Chula Vista has also been involved with the local LGBTQ community, hosting a panel discussion of staffers from the San Diego Lambda Archives and screening a "Pride Film" series.

Patrons, Whatley said, should be able to find a wide range of materials at the library. In fact, Drag Queen Story Time was just one offering in a large catalog of summer events promoting literacy: Spanish Storytime, Toddler Storytime, Dog Days of Summer Storytime...

"And like any book or program we have," Whatley said, "you have to opt in."

Or opt out. Schaper, the MassResistance organizer, said Chula Vista's Drag Queen Storytime has been a powerful recruiting tool.

"It's grown considerably now, especially in the last month," he said. "The idea that drag queens are in the libraries is just so horrific to them."

Yes, it has! MassResistance gained considerable attention and support for our efforts to stop the Drag Queen Story Hour madness in Chula Vista. We still have members of our San Diego MassResistance chapter who are ready to step in and do what needs to be done to stop this LGBT infiltration into the public square. The men and women from many church communities reached out to us and worked with us to alert the public and raise outrage about the program. Event after the event transpired on September 10, 2019, the San Diego MassResistance team continued to hammer the city council for allowing that disgusting program to take place at the main library.

They did a great job, and then the pandemic hit. Notwithstanding the problems which ensued, our MassResistance activists around the country and the world have worked with us, and we never stopped our push to stop the LGBT agenda and its militant miscreants.

Another victory: Texas city stops "Drag Queen Story Hour" after MassResistance Pressure

Another victory: Texas city stops "Drag Queen Story Hour" after MassResistance pressure

City Council discontinues all library room rentals

Council also votes to require background checks for people presenting to children in library

Months of phone calls, emails by local citizens made the difference!

August 25, 2019
MassResistance notches another victory in the battle against “Drag Queens” targeting young children in public libraries!
ALT TEXTThis was the local TV station's report in Leander, Texas, the day after the City Council vote!
On August 15, The Leander, Texas, City Council voted 5-2 to stop renting out their public library meeting rooms to outside organizations. The Council also voted 6-1 to require background checks for guest presenters for programs in the library involving children 17 and younger. By all accounts, these policy changes will completely stop the “Drag Queen Story Hour” events in the public library.
ALT TEXTThe Leander City Council votes on the new library policy.
Both of these moves are a direct result of Texas MassResistance activismtargeting the “Drag Queen Story Hour” events at the Leander Public Library this year - a story which ultimately made national news.
Here’s how it happened:

1. Public library sponsors Drag Queen event – until MassResistance gets involved!

As we reported earlier local residents in Leander, a suburb of Austin, contacted MassResistance asking for help. They were outraged that the Leander Public Library was sponsoring a Drag Queen Story Hour, to take place on June 15.
Our Houston MassResistance chapter helped the Leander parents organize and leaflet the community. Soon the Mayor and City Council were flooded with phone calls and emails from angry citizens.
Then Houston MassResistance released a revolting 57-page exposé of the “Drag Queen” who was to be reading to the children at the Public Library event. The social media photos shown in the report are repulsive and pornographic. One could easily see this is definitely not a person you would want teaching anything to young children.
ALT TEXTThis is the "Drag Queen" that library officials and LGBT activists invited to read to children in their library - exposed by MassResistance.
The City Council quickly reacted to the outrage and decided that the public librarycould not be the sponsors of the Drag Queen event! Two of the City Council members even contacted MassResistance to cover for themselves, blaming the previous City Council members for scheduling the event!

2. Library lets local pro-LGBT church rent the room so Drag Queen event to go on

But as we subsequently reported, this was a short-lived victory. Unfortunately. the local library policies had been changed about a year ago to allow community use of the library building by churches and political organizations.  This allowed a local LGBTQ-affirming church to step in and rent the library room, so the Drag Queen Story Hour could still take place on June 15.
Texas MassResistance announced it would protest the event along with Leander parents and other groups outside the library that day. Almost immediately, the Antifa chapter in nearby Austin announced they were also coming – presumably to harass and intimidate the pro-family protesters.

3. The Left begins to cave in

Texas MassResistance made it clear that they weren’t afraid of the Antifa threats. The Leander police also announced that they intended to protect the pro-family protesters from any possible violence. As a result, Antifa basically backed downand had no visible presence at the protest.
People in town were incensed that this “Drag Queen,” who clearly had no business being around children, was still being scheduled for the event. And they continued flood the library with angry calls and emails.
It worked. The day before the June 15 event, the pro-LGBT church announced that the scheduled “Drag Queen” would not be coming to read to the children – and it would not be a “Drag Queen Story Hour.” Instead, they were re-naming it “Leander Family Pride Festival and Story Time.” But people would still be reading homosexual-themed books to young children, but there would not be Drag Queens in attendance.

4. Successful protest outside the library against the LGBT agenda

MassResistance organized about 100 local Leander pro-family people to show up on June 15 outside the library – to protest the LGBT agenda in their library and in their city. About 75 pro-LGBT people were also came to oppose the pro-family protesters. But they appeared to be just a bunch of random gay activists from out of town, milling about and mouthing their predictable slogans and chants about “hate” and “bigotry.”
Due to the threats by Antifa to counter-protest and likely cause violence, the city went to great expense to secure the rights of all residents to safely practice their freedom to assemble and protest. There were police everywhere. In all, the city spent over $20,000 for protection for the protest – which only added to the outcry against this program.
ALT TEXTAt the library protest on June 15 Texas MassResistance leader Tracy Shannon shows her winning smile!
ALT TEXTDueling banners at the protest. Man in the foreground is reporter for InfoWars.
ALT TEXTA lot of local parents brought signs like this one.
In addition, Leander residents were fuming that the city decided to close the library that day except for the exclusive use of the “pride” event – due to “safety concerns.”  This measure seemed a bit over-the-top and unnecessary, according to many people.
ALT TEXTThe sign outside the Leander Public Library that day infuriated parents.
But the pro-family protest was a big success. It sent a huge message to the politicians in Leander.

5. The City Council is forced to solve the problem!

National far-left organizations such as the ACLU, the NCAC (National Coalition Against Censorship), and Texas Library Association had already sent letters threatening lawsuits if the Leander City Council were to enact policies to make groups renting the library facilities pay for their own security costs – claiming it would be a “First Amendment violation..” But there was huge city-wide outrage against these sexual programs targeting young children. So the Councilors had to make some tough decisions. They ultimately did what was best for the children and the community.
Thus, on August 15 the City Council voted 5-2 to restrict the use of the library meeting rooms to city departments in their official capacities. The new policies for approving outside presenters brought in to the library by city departments will involve background checks if they are presenting to children under 17.
ALT TEXTThis was a very busy streetcorner on June 15!
As of now, the city residents are protected from “Drag Queen Story Hour” events in their public library -- and other programming from outside groups that is pushes LGBTQ content and ideology onto children.

Vile, unhinged attack from a left-wing City Council member

One of the dissenting City Council members, Christine Sederquist, an ally of the LGBT movement, blamed the expense of the security for the protests on Tracy Shannon and MassResistance.
ALT TEXTPro-LGBT Councilwoman Christine Sederquist poses with homosexual-themed children's book "Love Makes a Family."
When Tracy Shannon responded that it was actually the expected violence from Antifa that required the need for expensive police protection – not the peaceful parents from Leander organized by MassResistance – Councilwoman Sederquist posted a vile, unhinged attack against Tracy on social media that included a disgusting sexual invective.
ALT TEXT
This is unfortunately how the Left reacts to any pushback to their horrible activities – with blatant lies and disgusting verbal abuse. In fact, Tracy Shannon is a very calm person who has NEVER screamed at anyone, certainly not children. Tracy’s online activity is simply exposing the depraved “Drag Queens” that people like Sederquist push on kids.
(How low can the Councilwoman go? She claims to possess dignity, class, and discretion. Yet only an extremely crude person would use the repulsive phrase “get bent” in public discourse.)
The city of Leander deserves better from an elected official. Sederquist’s City Council email address is: place4@leandertx.gov.  The entire City Council can be reached at: citycouncil@leandertx.gov.

Going forward …

The City Council, strengthened by the resolve of many residents who opposed Drag Queen Story Hour, made the right decision to protect the children in their community. Most cities have ordinances to keep sexually-oriented businesses away from libraries, churches, and schools because they should not be around children. Now Leander has enacted further policy to ensure that sexually explicit entertainers stay away from children in what would otherwise be benign, less controversial programs.
But we're not done cleaning house yet.  We’ve just learned that the Leander Library has scheduled a “Pride Storytime” on Oct. 12. There will be no Drag Queens and any adults participating will require a background check. We have a strong feeling that local parents getting tired of the LGBT agenda being pushed to children by their city. We’ll see what happens with that!
Going forward, MassResistance activists will continuing putting pressure on locally-elected and countywide bodies to adopt strict policies to ensure that sexually perverse Drag Queen Story Hours targeting children are kept out of their libraries and other public venues.
We’ve already heard reports that other cities will be adopting ordinances similar to Leander, Texas to restrict inappropriate use of public spaces in taxpayer-funded venues like local libraries. We will keep you apprised of future successes!

WaPo Hate "Blames" MassResistance For Shutting Down DQSH in Texas (You're Welcome!)

As expected, the Washington Post went after MassResistance for taking a firm, successful stance against Drag Queen Story Hour programs across the United States.

Here's their hateful "report" going after us, and then playing defense and rescue with Drag Queen Story Hour proponents.

Pretty disgusting. They say "Democracy dies in darkness", but so does morality!

June 11 at 10:38 PM
A public library in Texas will be partially closed this weekend in anticipation of demonstrations by political groups over a children’s story hour run by a drag queen that is planned at the branch.
The library should have never allowed the perverse program to come into the library in the first place!
The library in Leander, a city of 56,000 about 30 miles north of Austin, is providing space for Saturday’s drag queen story time event, which will be hosted by a local church. But the rest of the facility will be closed.
This action is completely unethical, and more city councils are taking steps to make sure that public facilities are not used in such biased, slanted ways in the future.
Drag queen story hours have made libraries the latest front in the United States’ wrenching national dispute over gender roles and sexuality.
In Leander, city officials first canceled the story hour, which was to be hosted by the library, in late May before a progressive and LGBT-friendly church in the area, Open Cathedral, stepped in to host it. The church will hold the event in a conference room it booked at the library.
“A lot of people are upset we canceled, and a lot of people are upset we had it planned,” Priscilla Donovan, the library’s director, told reporters at the time. “But it’s starting to tip more toward people who are disappointed we canceled it.”

Now rumors are flying about whether right-wing groups, including those that lean toward the extreme, will be greeted by anti-fascist protesters in front of the library as people in drag read stories to children inside.
At least one group, MassResistance, a self-described “pro-family” organization that the Southern Poverty Law Center characterizes as an anti-LGBT hate group, has targeted drag queen story hours around the country. Its chapter in Texas has organized a protest Saturday, when the event is supposed to be held, according to its Facebook page. Christian groups and media companies have spotlighted the event as well. And at least one liberal group, ATX Resistance Action, has organized a counterprotest to support the event.
When a newspaper has to quote a hate group like the Southern Poverty Law Center to call you a hate group, you know that you are winning!
Ryan Hart, 38, the minister and founder of Open Cathedral, said in a telephone interview that the church was surprised by the reaction to the event.
The bigger surprise is that any so-called church would host an event with drag queens and consider such perversity "holiness".
“We thought this would be 10 kids and three moms,” he said. But 2,000 people flooded the website to express interest in the event, which is RSVP only, he said. He expects about 150 people to attend.
“It’s about a community that’s looking to say out loud that we love our kids,” Hart said of the positive response. “It’s about a community that has more diversity than politicians realize. And it’s about a world that’s changing and people who want to be more loving than people saying, ‘Be quiet and sit down.’ . . . We’re honored to be called into the middle of that.”
No mother or father can claim to love their children when taking them to see creepy sexualized entertainers who dress as self-parodies of women. That is not love. That is child abuse.
The organization Drag Queen Story Hour started in late 2015 in San Francisco just as the country’s reinvigorated right wing was coming into form. But it has found many fans with chapters in areas outside traditionally liberal cities; it now has outposts in places like Milwaukee; New Orleans; Charlotte; Mobile, Ala.; and San Marcos, Tex.
"Reinvigorated right wingers" are to blame for Drag Queen Story Hour, Washington Post? Really? Does anyone take this newspaper seriously anymore? Anyone?
Its founders have described it as a reaction to the harsh political landscape of the past few years, in which painful debates about issues like identity, sexuality and race have animated the country’s politics.
Why are there debates about identity and sexuality in the first place? This is all crazy.
“I think it is partly a reaction to the political landscape of the U.S. right now and a need for more queer programming for children,” co-founder Jonathan Hamilt told the BBC about the organization’s popularity in more conservative areas.
And it has inspired dozens of other libraries and groups across the country to host their own events, as Travor Bach reported for The Washington Post.
In recent months, the events have sparked opposition in places like Simpsonville, S.C.; Binghamton, N.Y.; Spokane, Wash.; Huntington Woods, Mich.; and Houston, where organizers canceled the long-running event after a lawsuit, the disclosure that one of the former readers was a registered sex offender and the arrest of a protester who was carrying a licensed gun and refused to leave the event.

MassResistance was instrumental in many of those protests, by the way. We were successful in shutting down Drag Queen Story Hour in Georgia, Ohio, and New Hampshire.

The debate about the story hours has also entered the op-ed pages, including a polemic written by New York Post op-ed editor Sohrab Ahmari for the religious journal First Things and a rebuttal from New York Times columnist Michelle Goldberg.

It's a really sad commentary on our culture when the towering intellects of our chattering class have been reduced to arguing about drag queens reading to children. Why this is a thing in itself should be a cause for alarm.

“There are times where the rights of religious believers and those of a pluralistic society conflict: when, for example, conservative Christian bakers are asked to make wedding cakes for gay couples, or some ultra-Orthodox Jewish parents are ordered, against their own convictions, to vaccinate their kids,” Goldberg wrote. “The existence of Drag Queen Story Hour is not one of those times. Conservatives are not being subjugated because they can’t stop other people from holding a public event that offends them. It’s telling that some of them think they are.”

In Leander, the event drew harsh words from the city’s mayor, Troy Hill, who castigated the library’s staff for choosing “to wade into social issues water without approval from City Staff.”
“Since then it has led to the predictable outrage and divisiveness that is the reason to avoid these issues,” he told television station KVUE.

Drag Queen Story Hour is all about grooming children to accept sexual perversion as normal and natural. Every parent has a right and responsibility to take a stand against such filth. Elected officials have a stern responsibility to put a stop to such madness, as well, since governments are instituted among men to protect our rights, certainly, but also to restrain evil. It's very difficult to restrain evil, however, when elected leaders dismiss its concrete existence in the first place.

Mike Neu, a spokesman for the city of Leander, said officials expected that many of the demonstrators Saturday would be coming from outside the city or even the state.
“We don’t know if it will be one group or several groups,” he said.
The library’s closure was reported by the Austin American-Statesman.

Open Cathedral is a member of the United Church of Christ, which has a history of activism on issues such as abolition, women’s rights and LGBT rights, Hart said. One Christian news organization called it an “apostate Texas ‘Church.’”

Any church which promotes sexual perversion has nothing to do with Christ. It is crystal clear, since the church is rejecting the truth of God's Word, including the blessed fact that "Male and female he created them", this building is not a church.
Hart said he didn’t think it was a coincidence that the culture war had found its way to the staid and respectful world of libraries.
Libraries have not been very respectful places for a long time. It's unfortunate, but this happened over time as the American Library Association became more partisan, progressive, and ultimately perverse. Libraries are trained by the ALA on how to promote Drag Queen Story Hour without the parents' knowing about it, and the librarians are also trained how to respond to objects and criticisms of the movement, too.
“I realized that revolutions always start with books and libraries,” he said. “People feel so deeply isolated in our society — that’s true of a lot of groups, whether it’s straight white men, people of color or immigrants. And I believe that people want to be included no matter what, and that’s what we’re trying to do with the kids of this community.”
People are not isolated, as much as they have become numb and uninterested in what is happening in their local governments, and the agencies which they are responsible for.

Final Reflection

Yes, MassResistance played an important role in shutting down Drag Queen Story Hour programs across the United States. We are very proud of this effort, and we take great pride when even corrupted rags like the Washington Post report on our efforts!

Big win in “Drag Queen” wars in Leander, TX

June 21, 2019
ALT TEXTA victory: At the library protest Houston MassResistance leader Tracy Shannon shows her winning smile!
Texas MassResistance activists in Leander, TX, (led by our fearless Houston MassResisstance chapter) notched another big win on June 15 in the “Drag Queen Story Hour” wars, These events around the country are targeting young children with homosexual and transgender propaganda in public libraries. Because we were aggressive and stood our ground, it was a complete victory for the pro-family side!
As we recently reported, the “Drag Queen Story Hour” was scheduled for June 15 in the Leander Public Library, and was originally sponsored by the Library.
But on May 23, the City of Leander decided to cancel the event after Texas MassResistance distributed a 57-page report exposing the lurid and pornographic social media photographs of the scheduled drag queen – and the fact that two recent drag queens at the Houston public library events had been revealed to be convicted child molesters. The city admitted it had not done a background check on the person scheduled in Leander.
But then the event was back on again. Immediately after the cancellation by the City, a local pro-LGBT church rented a room in the Leander Library for June 15 – to hold the same “Drag Queen Story Hour” event there. This move made national news, and was celebrated in The Washington Post.
Texas MassResistance announced they would be protesting outside on June 15 and joined by other Texas pro-family groups. The Antifa chapter in nearby Austin, TX announced they were also coming – presumably to harass and intimidate the pro-family protesters.

The cave-in starts as MassResistance stays firm

Reaction to Antifa. Texas MassResistance made it clear that they weren’t afraid of the Antifa threats. The Leander police also announced that they intended to protect the pro-family protesters from any possible violence. The Antifa group responded by publishing a somewhat toned down, but still threatening, call to action to come to harass the protesters.
City announces library would be closed to public. On June 11, the City of Leander announced that because of the anticipated protests outside, the library would be closed to the public on June 15 – except for the registered attendees of the Drag Queen Story Hour event in the private room inside.
Church backs down and drops “Drag Queen” from event! On June 14, the pro-LGBT church announced that the “Drag Queen” would not be coming on June 15 and reading to the children – and it would not be a “Drag Queen Story Hour”. Instead, they were re-naming it “Leander Family Pride Festival and Story Time.” Instead of the Drag Queen reading to kids, “parents of LGBTQ families and of adopted kids have stepped in to be our readers.” The books they said they would be reading were, of course, homosexual-themed children’s books. They also said that there would be some Drag Queens in attendance, but although there were a few Drag Queens standing outside the library, it appears that none of them actually came into the event.
Antifa backs down – no organized presence at protest. After all that tough talk, from what we could tell, on the day of the protest there was no organized Antifa presence at all. There were about 75 pro-LGBT people there milling about in opposition to the 100 or so pro-family protesters, divided by police barricades along with dozens of police. But they appeared to be just a bunch of random gay activists from out of town, mouthing their predictable slogans and chants about “hate” and “bigotry.”

The library protest: Texas MassResistance parents and families against the LGBT agenda

Led by Tracy Shannon, head of Houston MassResistance, the protest outside of the Leander Public Library was a great success. They definitely sent a message to both the city officials and the LGBT activists.
ALT TEXTPolice barricades separated the two groups.
ALT TEXTLocal pro-family parents were not afraid to tell it like it is.
During the protest Tracy had her own words for the LGBT activists: "It is not a child's job to vlidate your identy or your sexual orientation."
ALT TEXTConfronting the LGBT rhetoric.
The only trouble happened when an InfoWars reporter who was there walked into the LGBT crowd with his cameraman to interview people. They swarmed around him and assaulted him, a few of them grabbing his crotch and his buttocks while one of them clanged a loud bell in his face. He quickly ran out of the crowd. The police made no arrests. But this underscores the perverted nature of these dysfunctional people. See the InfoWars report here.

It’s all about pushing the agenda. More specifically, it’s about pushing their own sexual issues on others. It’s interesting to note that this “Drag Queen Story Hour” was originally billed as a “literacy” and “reading” event for children. But in fact, it was all about the LGBT agenda. The books they read to the children are about normalizing “LGBT families” and “gender fluidity” and acceptance of anything that’s different.
The people who ran the event and virtually all the attendees, as well as the counter-protesters, are part of that movement – and most seemed to be from out of town. They certainly appeared to have the same sense of superiority along with self-righteous anger and hatred of the local Christians that we see at most of these kinds of events.
ALT TEXTPublic disrespect. This is what this LGBT counter-protester thinks of America.
That combination is usually quite effective. But this time all that didn’t work out for them.
And finally: City announces upcoming change of library policies. MassResistance’s standing up to all this definitely spooked the city officials, and they clearly want to avoid this sort of problem in the future. The day of the protest, Leander city officials told reporters that they are going to review their policies, not only on the programming they allow in the library but also their policies for allowing people to rent rooms in the library and in the city.
There’s much more to come from Tracy and our outstanding Texas MassResistance group! We’ll keep you informed.
