Letter to Charles Krauthammer

I appreciate the context that you have brought in the final evaluation of Moammar Gadhafi's final moments.

Not only did he deserve to die, but you more merciful options that were tendered to him, like voluntary exile in Central America (Venezuela, perhaps?). Granted, his flight would not have furthered justice for the Libyan people or the world, but at least it would have spared his country much bloodshed and destruction.

It is also noteworthy that Gadhafi's demise should serve as a worthy deterrent to current dictators who are slaughtering their own people in their frantic attempt to hold on to power, i.e. Yemen's Ali Abdullah Saleh and Syria's Bashar al-Assad. Of course, let us not forget the other Mad Dog of the Middle East, Mahoud Ahmadinejad. He definitely should be shaking, and any hold on his power will be a boon for the world, not just Israel and moderate Arab States.
