"Occupy Everywhere" and Capitalism

Even when economists ran around like Chicken Little, yelling "Capitalism is Dead", shops kept selling, buyers kept buying, and trade keeps trading.

People seeking to meet needs and wants in a limited world with scarce resources will always find ways to come together and trade -- this is a basic tenet of civilization.

Even when Occupy Everywhere takes to the streets, demanding government intervention in every level of government, calling for massive debt forgiveness for student loans, and a mandatory minimum wage -- all hostile the fundamental principles of capitalism, merchants still find a way to make a buck, even if the crowd despises what they are doing.

How ironic that a movement predicated on transforming government is now soliciting the same for patents protecting logos and slogans representing the "99%". In protesting corporate greed, the protesters have solicited lawyers to protect their own claims to make money.

Perhaps "ironic" is not the best word. "Hypocritical" or "ludicrous" is more fitting.
