Letter to the Editor: Best Explanation Why Truman Was Right

Your Townhall piece (Eighty Years Ago, Truman Did the Right Thing) was the best concise explanation of why Truman was right that I've ever seen.

On a personal note, my father turned 15 the day Pearl Harbor was attacked.

In March of 1943, he joined the Navy (like 60,000 others who were underage, he used an altered birth certificate). He drove a Higgins boat full of Marines in the first wave at Tarawa. They got stuck on a sandbar. He watched most of them die while attempting to wade ashore. He also did landings at Leyte and Iwo Jima and would have taken part in an invasion of Japan.
