Assemblyman Travis Allen Denounces California’s Soft on Crime Policies That Resulted in Slain California Deputy Sheriff
Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputy Robert French was needlessly murdered at the hands of an “early release” felon
SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblyman Travis Allen (R-Huntington Beach) called out Jerry Brown and the California Democrats for their soft on crime policies that are resulting in rising crime and the deaths of California’s law enforcement.
“This week, a cop killing felon was on the streets due to Jerry Brown’s AB 109 early release law, instead of behind bars where he belonged,” said Assemblyman Travis Allen. “Under the California Democrats’ soft on crime policies such as AB 109, Prop 57 and Prop 47, violent crime has gone up by 15.4% since 2014. How many more families will suffer until Californians decide we have had enough?”
This week, an “early release” felon fatally shot Deputy Robert French, 52, with an illegally obtained weapon. Deputy French died on the way to the hospital and his death has sent shockwaves throughout the local law enforcement community. Two California Highway Patrol officers were also shot and wounded. The suspect, Thomas Daniel Littlecloud, has a long criminal history with multiple felonies. It is reported that Littlecloud was released from the Soledad state prison in 2014 as part of California’s AB 109 “re-alignment” program.
“It is not enough for Democrat politicians to send their condolences after the fact when it is their soft on crime policies that have put our law enforcement and communities in harm’s way. Deputy French’s death was unnecessary and a direct result of laws that Gov. Jerry Brown, Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, and the California Democrats have promoted,” said Assemblyman Travis Allen.
