Arthur, The Washington Cartel is at it again. This time, we've been betrayed by the Senate Majority Leader. This is a good assessment of the Washington polity: a cartel bent on illegal wheelings and dealings to get through to the next election. When will our leaders care about the next election? Three times the Senate Majority Leader lied as he looked me in the eyes... Some time ago, I asked the Senate Majority Leader if he had cut a deal to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank -- a classic example of cronyism and corporate welfare -- in order to pass Trade Promotion Authority (TPA), and, three times, he said there was no deal. Senator Cruz indicted McConnell for his breach of trust in the US Senate. He actually had warmer words for self-avowed socialist Bernie Sanders, who opposes the Ex-Im crony loan account bank. Democrats in general have turned into the Party of the One Percent, and Cruz is using their tactics against them. Cruz should be commended for using the US Senate floor as a national media battleground to indict the entire political class in Washington. Why? Because that's what the Washington Cartel wanted. Career politicians in both parties are so concerned with staying in power at all costs, that they get in bed with lobbyists and special interests and listen to them rather than the American people. We need leadership and representation in both houses which look out for their constituents and honor the Constitution. Period. Term limits alone cannot achieve this outcome. A more dedicated media class made up of you and me make that happen. Arthur, today we have government of the lobbyists, by the lobbyists, and for the lobbyists. Now, the long knives are coming out because I dared to tell you and the rest of America the truth and expose what was really happening behind closed doors in Washington.
I would like to know what the US senator plans to do about this revolving door of corruption-collusion in Washington. How about term limits for lobbyists? How about barring elected federal officials from becoming lobbyists in the first place? How about creating more open-forum transparency, so that individual Americans can participate in committee hearings? Republicans keep winning elections, and then our leaders don't do a single thing that they said they were going to do. I am glad that Cruz did not criticize every Republican in the US Senate, but rather the leadership, which is not doing its job. We see far too many "campaign conservatives" -- conservatives who pretend to be conservatives on the campaign trail, but when it comes time to step up and govern, they don't govern based upon what they promised us in their stump speeches. Great comment. "Campaign conservatives" become "government politicians" once elected, and moreso among US Senators, who are spared reelection challenges every six years. The best way to prevent this back-and-forth conniving might lie in repealing the Seventeenth Amendment, or waiting for open Senate seats and promoting the less established more free-thinking candidate. We've seen before how to defeat the Washington Cartel. In 1980, the Reagan Revolution came from the American people. With your support it can happen again. The incredible outpouring of grassroots support, of volunteers, of over 175,000 donations to our campaign to reignite liberty is so encouraging. The only way we can break this cycle and force leaders to actually stand for conservative principles is with a grassroots tsunami. I truly believe 2016 is going to be an election like 1980 -- a grassroots tsunami. This sentence stood out the strongest for me. Democratic partisans have gleefully argued that Election 2016 will be like 1992, with Bush v. Clinton, and Clinton will win. The analogy breaks down after the names though, since Jeb Bush had a more conservative record as Governor, but has embraced Big Government liberal positions for his Presidential run. Hillary Clinton has embraced in turn some of the most regressive policies imaginable, including the government take-over of health care, along with the false redefinition of marriage, rampant amnesty and massive migration, along with unsound gun control policies and tax-and-spend Obamanomics. Former President Bill Clinton, aside from his War on Women with numerous dalliances, affairs, and allegations of sexual assault, would be a Republican running to the right of every Democratic candidate in the 2016 Bench. We're going to win. We're going to do it by painting in bold colors. And most importantly, we're going to do it with your support. Can we count on you to help break the Washington Cartel? For liberty, Ted Cruz Final Reflection Ted Cruz commands a solid conservative resolve with rhetorical flair and sheer campaign/academic brilliance. He is a great speaker and can rally grassroots support. His latest speech has actually pushed McConnell to introduce legislation to defund Planned Parenthood. I had feared that Cruz' alienating speeches would make conservative legislative efforts impossible. That no longer seems to be the case. Cruz, much like Reagan, is trusted and verified in his conservative fight for something better, much better for this country. His twenty minute speech calling out the Majority Leader's lack of respect and ethics commands more respect and accomplished more than his twenty-two hour non-filibuster in 2013. I look forward to a Walker-Cruz ticket in 2016, and hopefully Republicans and Americans in general will feel like this country is partying once again, just like in 1980, when the American People widely rejected Carter Liberalism. |
