The People Become the Media

Orwell's Cynicism

I read the following quote above a few days ago.

I was at first readily inclined to accept this disturbing fact.

Looking deeper at the issue, however, I realize that Orwell would have no idea how communications have become revolutionized in our times.

Everyone of us can report on the news. We can take out the phones, we can blog, we can share information through the fastest means, and in many cases, individuals like you and me can report what is going on before the corporate media organs even hear about the story.

The people may believe whatever the media tells them they believe.

But what happens when the people become the media?
