I would have never believed that there was so much mismanagment in the city of Torrance.
It was just the tip of the iceberg when Clint Paulson was talking about the misuse of spending during the 2014 City Council election.
Now I am learning about a long string of heinous problems in the city (Click here for more information on that).
Then I hear that the city of Torrance is actually discussing whether to get rid of a useless commission n the city.
Here's a note I received from a concerned citizen in teh city:
Arthur,
I understand you are advocating the elimination of this [the Cable Advisory] Board.
I am sure you noticed at the last Commission appointments there
was a lack of interest in serving on the Board with the failure of
residents applying for appointment.
And then, to top it off, the current Board members applied for
openings on other Commissions prior to completion of their
appointments. And right after
the appointments, another Board
member resigned.
The way I see it there are several roadblocks to dumping the Board.
1. The Council won't do it
because they want to make brownie points
with all the political appointments to the various Commissions.
2. If the Board is eliminated,
there won't be any oversight on how the
franchise fee is spent.
So if the Board is eliminated, the franchise fee should be eliminated
too.
Just my thoughts.
I think that these thoughts are more than noteworthy.
Let's just pull the plug on the whole thing.
And let's give money back to the taxpayers of the city of Torrance.
Do we really need another committee of talking heads looking over how to spend other people's money?
How about spending less money, period?!
