By 9:20am, the meeting had not started and Senator Ricardo Lara had NOT arrived. When asked, staff members claimed they did not know when the meeting would begin.  Soon after that, Senator Ricardo Lara's staff members disassembled the Ricardo Lara signs that had been posted in front of the event.  Pro illegal nonprofit groups that had set up tables inside of the event began to pack up and then left the event. Co-host of the forum, Long Beach City Councilman Al Austin, arrived and sparred with the Trump Supporters. There were more Trump Supporters than illegals at the forum, so the no-show Senator Ricardo Lara cancelled his illegal alien forum. Ricardo Lara and Councilman Al Austin are hosting an immigration forum this weekend in Long Beach where undocumented residents can learn about the current status of immigration policies as well as their legal rights. The event will include a workshop on DACA, or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, a program created under Barack Obama’s administration that, essentially, gives a presidential pass from deportation for eligible immigrant youth who came to the country when they were children. The Trump Administration announced earlier this month that it would phase out the program in six months unless Congress takes action. Roughly 800,000 young immigrants who arrived here as children could be affected. The legal clinic on Saturday is free, along with additional information about available resources. The event is 9 a.m. to noon, at Iglesia Cristiana Templo Shalom, at 1120 E.
