Well, actually, I shouldn't be all that surprised that I did. He was better than Barack Obama--at least he seemed that way at the time.
Now he's helping to salvage the most pernicious element of Obama's 8 year legacy of failure, destruction, and poverty on the American people.
Two times now he has helped kill repeal of Obamacare. This man is a traitor on the battlefield as well as the US Senate floor.
He wants to open the borders to illegal aliens, even though he campaigned in 2010 and 2016 to secure the borders, to "build the dang fence."
This man is not a maverick. He is a moron, and an amoral politico out for his own self-interest, with no caring nor regard for the people of Arizona or the United States of America.
Trump was right about this guy. He shouldn't have even called him a hero.
McCain is a total zero, a Big Government moderate who wants to play both sides of the fence and fancy himself a deal maker and a policy power-player.
But Trump took him down a notch on Twitter:. Here are the latest tweets from @RealDonaldTrump:
Over the past weekend, Trump was unsparing:A few of the many clips of John McCain talking about Repealing & Replacing O'Care. My oh my has he changed-complete turn from years of talk! pic.twitter.com/t9cXG2Io86— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 26, 2017
This tweet has turned out to be quite prophetic:Arizona had a 116% increase in ObamaCare premiums last year, with deductibles very high. Chuck Schumer sold John McCain a bill of goods. Sad— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 23, 2017
John McCain never had any intention of voting for this Bill, which his Governor loves. He campaigned on Repeal & Replace. Let Arizona down!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 23, 2017
Please, Arizonans! You need to get rid of your corrupted, Establishent, neo-con, anti-populist, anti-American US Senator---make that Senators! (including Jeff the Flake!).
UPDATE --
Senator John McCain has gone under the knife and the nukes for brain cancer.
It's not looking good for the anti-Trump renegade:
"They said that it's very serious. That the prognosis is very, very serious," McCain told 60 Minutes. "Some say three percent, some say 14 percent. You know, it's a very poor prognosis. So I just said, 'I understand. Now we're gonna do what we can, get the best doctors we can find and do the best we can.' And, at the same time, celebrate with gratitude a life well lived."
I emphatically disagree with the argument that McCain's life has been well lived, considering the current political context of killing much-needed health care reforms and reneging on his promises to repeal Obamacare, build the wall, end illegal immigration, and uphold the United States Constitution.
This man has had the limited interest of promoting his neo-con, globalist agenda, aggressively expanding the size and scope of the federal government--much like the cancer crowding out his brain cells.
One could call this development a cruel form of natural justice, I suppose. Regardless of his past and present actions, brain cancer is a terrible situation. He should step down from office immediately, however, and Arizona residents need to elect someone who will actually do good for the voters and the country.
