Clinton, Johnson, and the Black Hole of Secular Tyranny

In California, conservatives have just finished one fight defending freedom of conscience against the onslaught of the LGBT agenda. SB1146—the Kill Christian Colleges Bill—is still up for a vote, but has been amended many times, and more Democrats are starting to get cold feet about the invasion of the state into citizens’ spiritual affiliations.

California-based dating site Christian Mingle has caved to the Big Gay Hat Machine. Parents must contend with their kids learning LGBT history.

Fortunately, pro-family forces are waking up in secular, statist California. They recognize that our work is cut out for us. We can win this fight, but we need to accept two sets forward, one step to the side in this journey.

Christianity—and Christians—are under attack in this country. Christian bakers, florist, photographers, pizza parlors must compromise their convictions or face shame, fines, even jail time! There’s another reason I am gladly on the Trump train. Donald Trump recognizes the unprecedented assault on the First Amendment, particularly freedom of religion. He wants to repeal the Johnson Amendment.

And speaking of Johnson  …

For all the Never Trumpers still pouting, let me explain why your other two major options are completely impalatable, and why you should cast them out before they possess more of our dithering, unsure electorate and set this country on the road to serfdom November 8^th.

Hillary Clinton is not just a liar, a thief, an ambitious Wall Street hag with murder in her eyes for anyone who stands in her way.

She is a statist, and a secular one.

I don’t care how many church services she’s attended, or how many preachers praise her, or how many congregations lay hands on her.

She has no regard for the transcendent, or for the Constitution. And our Founding Charter has great respect for the Divine, especially to “secure the blessings of liberty.”

That First Amendment has this distinct first clause: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof …”

And yet …

These are her words about the free exercise of religion in her social order, and only in relation to abortion.

First, context:

“Far too many women are still denied critical access to reproductive health care and safe childbirth. All the laws we’ve passed don’t count for much if they’re not enforced,” Clinton said, using the euphemism for abortion.”

I am not sure which country she’s talking about. Some third-world country, perhaps. If she is talking about this country, she must be thinking of those run-down, Democratic dominated third-tier urban ghettos.

Clinton continues:

“Rights have to exist in practice — not just on paper. Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will. And deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.”

WHAT?!

Surprisingly, the conservative media (no surprises about the Big Three Mainstream media) did not blast this admission, then blast Clinton.  She wants tyranny, pure and simple. Russia has already banned evangelism in the name of national security. Now we have Presidential candidates debating whether the First Amendment should remain.

Clinton has also shamed Orthodox Judaism for its strictures regarding men’s comportment with women. But her distressing comments about “religious beliefs” should leave no doubt about her schemes.

Rest assured, she will not stop with forcing religious convictions to cave on baby-killing. You will have to bake the gay wedding cake, officiate the gay wedding, learn about the gay lifestyle, and march in gay pride parades—or else!

Then there’s Gary Johnson.

This guy fails the liberty test—from the Second Amendment to abortion.

But worst of all, on the First Amendment.

Instead of listening to the rising chorus (or Gospel Choir) of concerns, Johnson doubled-down on his secular, statist “Bake that Cake” mentality.

In a recent interview with Washington Examiner, Johnson compared freedom of conscience to invidious discrimination:

“[I]f we allow for discrimination, we're gonna open up a can of worms when it come stop discrimination of all forms, starting with Muslims … who knows. You're narrowly looking at a situation where if you broaden that, I just tell you — on the basis of religious freedom, being able to discriminate — something that is currently not allowed — discrimination will exist in places we never dreamed of."

I reprint the entire passage to showcase the intricate, but ultimately failed tap-dancing Johnson engages in to avoid sounding like a bigoted or narrow-minded politico about religious liberty.

But then the shocker:

“I just see religious freedom, as a category, as just being a black hole."

EXCUSE ME?!

The United States was founded on religious liberty. Men and women of conscience were fleeing persecution, seeking a better life, where they could worship according to informed and private discernment, as opposed to government diktat.

Johnson’s understanding of history has fallen down the Memory Hole. All beliefs are equal before the state, unless the homosexual, atheist, pantheist, or Miley Cyrus objects.

Johnson and Clinton are coming in like a wrecking ball, knocking down the wall of separation that Jefferson was writing about with the Danbury, Connecticut congregations. That demarcation was not about keeping God out of our society, but rather keeping the government out of our preaching, teaching, and practice of faith.

For Johnson and Clinton to reject religious liberty because crazies (i.e. not progressive) would justify murder in the name of God, is (to quote Ian Tuttle of the National Review): “A-grade, five-star, top-shelf stupid.”

Our nation’s Founding Charter, and Founders, settled concerns about abuse of power under the guise of religious liberty.

From Thomas Jefferson (again): “But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or no God. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.”

Religious liberty defines a free society, causing no harm to person or property. Refusing to bake a cake for an event will not awaken a crisis. As President, Johnson or Clinton would push this country down a black hole from which we may never escape.
