I did not really believe that announcement at first.
Then I read it for myself.
Here it is again for review:
Our country is at a crossroads and in the midst of a moral
crisis. We must be careful not to continue our current path, which is littered
with uncertainty at best and ruination at worst. We can make changes to our
system and that change starts now with, “We the People.”
Yes, indeed it starts with us. The responsibility for our governance ends with us, too. Not happy with what you see at city hall, the state house, or in Congress? Get up and do something!
We can have disagreements, but it is critical that we not
allow those disagreements to divide us as a party or as a country.
I agree. Kurt Schlicter offered a wise point. Trump supporters are opponents , while the Democratic power brokers and their liberal-progressive-communistic elements are the enemies.
The left, and the Big Government special interests out to get rich off of everyone else -- they must be opposed.
The fight for constitutional rule, individual liberty, and limited government must continue.
For these reasons, in greater respects, I rejected Donald Trump.
And yet ...
It is with that in mind that I endorse Donald Trump for
President. I have known Donald for many years. He is a successful businessman
who has built a recognizable global brand that no one can question. His
experience as a businessman is exactly what we need to move our economic engine
in the right direction and empower those who have been left out of the American
dream for far too long.
With our support, I am sure that we can help restore
America's values and faith.
Is he a successful businessman? I am well-aware of his business failures. Not so sure about his business successes. Of course, successful entrepreneurs face failures all the time.
I know there will be some who want to underscore our
differences and others will wish to return to statements he has made about me
in the past, but that is politics. As a man of faith, all is forgiven and we
have moved beyond the past, as the future is now.
Donald Trump's remarks smearing Ben Carson as something akin to a child molester, along with his rabid spate of other offensive remarks, should indicate that Trump has more than unswerving political ambition.
He has personal problems. Political incorrectness is one thing. Abusive vulgarity is another.
Join me in supporting and rallying around the only candidate
the GOP has that can defeat Hillary Clinton in 2016 and return America to that
shining city on a hill.
This is about the candidate who can beat Hillary Clinton?
Honestly, Weekend at Bernie Sanders is gaining on Madam Hillary. He is within the margin of error in three major states going into the March 15th contests.
I am not interested in supporting candidates only because they may (or may not!) have the best chance of beating a serious opponent in the general election.
So, what's going on here?
Dr. Ben Carson is playing politics, lining up with the candidate who looks most likely to win the nomination in July. Once again, I would vote for Donald Trump over Clinton without thinking twice about the matter.
Still, the good doctor's bad judgment exposes what a cohort of commentators offered: "Carson the non-politician is very political after all."
Well,
I’ve always been a big fan of Carson. But I keep wondering, what kind of
delicious candy did Donald Trump offer Ben to get him into the Trump van?
Dr. Ben Carson |
That metaphor stood out to me big time
That’s kind of a pedophile comparison. Who would do such a thing? Oh, yes,
Trump did that with Ben Carson.
Bam! To compare someone to a pedophile is beyond reprehensible, and yet Donald Trump got a pass for that. He has only gotten a pass for standing on every side of an issue. Breitbart editors never called him out for his hiring of illegal aliens, his abuse of H-1B visas, or other liberal perversions.
So, that’s what I find really interesting, is
that, we’re in an era now, where you can compare somebody to a child molester,
or say that they’re pathologically damaged, and then still get that person’s
endorsement. And it tells me that even an outsider will sell out. An outsider
also wants to be an insider. He wants to be part of the bandwagon.
I would like to see more principled men and women get elected and work in government, to change matters from the inside-out. Or from the outside in.
With Carson's endorsement of Trump, however, whatever moral integrity he had left has disappeared, at least on this matter. I looked over the number of reactions, a large number of people expressed disappointment, outrage, and dissatisfaction with his choice.
Too bad.
Some conservatives fear that this endorsement will be the final nail in Ted Cruz' campaign.
Judging by the wide as well as disapproving reaction to this decision, I sincerely doubt it. 1% and 2% candidates are not going to tip the balance by a whole lot going from primary contest week to week.
This very political and disappointing calculation hurts Carson more than it helps Trump, especially since the real estate mogul's unbecoming behavior jars so violently with Carson's Christian upbringing and Christ-like persuasion during the campaign.
