Betty Retama, otherwise known as "Huntington Park Betty" is shouting at the police:
"We pay your salary. You cannot do this. You must obey your employers."
Robert Newman then told the audience: "The Chief of Police would like to speak with me. I will be speaking with the chief of police."
In the background, former city councilmember Linda Caraballo announces to the police: "This is being shot over to Channel Five News."
Another audience members calls the scene "discrimination."
Why did the city council and then the police choose to target Robert Newman for his affirmations?
I was the one speaking at the time. He was not interrupting me or preventing me from stating my remarks and concerns to the city council.
After Dr. Newman entered the hallway outside of the city council chambers, Councilman Valentin Amezquita accompanies Dr. Newman into the hallway and embraces him. Dr. Newman then says to the chief of police: "You're not going to escort me out, are you? You;re just going to talk to me. Did you deceive me?"
The chief of police, Cosme Lozamo, waives that question:
"It's irrelevant, sir."
"No, it's not. He said you wanted to speak with me. And that's the reason I came out here."
In the end, Newman complied with the unjust order, gathered his things, and left the chambers.

However, the police continued to guard him at the bottom of the steps on the first floor of the building. They were even holding their firearms, as though Newman was committing a crime. The protesters who remained in the City Council chambers denounced the city council for treating a law-abiding citizen like a thug, while permitting two illegal aliens on city commissions.
That the police used deception and lied to lure Newman out of the chambers is inexcusable.
