Raul Labrador (R-ID) For Speaker of the House

Ladies and Gentleman of the United States, Conservatives of all stripes who care about Constitution and country:

I have made my decision.

Raul Labrador

I support Raul Labrador of Idaho as our next Speaker of the House.

He has a 92% rating with the Heritage Foundation. 92%! We do not need perfect, and Labrador is good enough! He is one of the boldest young conservatives isn the House.

Read these comments I wrote on his behalf in my latest column on Townhall.com:

Raul Labrador of Idaho would be good. He has already challenged Kevin McCarthyfor Majority Leader, which implies avenues of support for a second run. He relentlessly interrogated former Attorney General Eric Holder over Operation Fast and Furious, and even graciously bowed out when McCarthy replaced Cantor.

He has challenged the leadership at least three times.

During the Fiscal Cliff fight in 2012, individual members voted for him instead of Boehner.

After the 2014 primary loss of Eric Cantor (which was not a loss for anyone of us), Labrador challenged Kevin McCarthy for the Majority Leader position. He did not win, but his campaign was noteworthy in that he took the time and effort to reach out to colleagues to seek their support. He showed real grace and consensus in requesting unanimous support for the Speaker.

He demonstrates his capacity to seek consensus among his colleagues while advancing the conservative cause. Unlike some, I am not cynically inclined to believe that good politics and good policy cannot work together. Tea Party protests brought one of the strongest, most conservative House caucuses to Washington in years, and they have taken over otherwise blue states throughout the country and working forward on key reforms.

We need to keep on fighting for what is right, and expect the same from our representatives. It is not enough to be against bad leaders. Let us get the good ones into power and make sure that they use their power for what is right and honorable, necessary and proper.

More to the point, I have contacted Labrador's office, and his staffers informed me that he is receiving phone calls from all over the country urging him to run for Speaker of the House. If we want a champion to fight for our cause, we need to let him know that we are fighting for him, every step of the way.

At this stage of the Speakership process, we have time and resources on our hands. I am getting positive feedback from Southern California residents, too. Even a more moderate colleague of mine would support Raul Labrador as House Speaker.

I appeal to all conservatives, all Americans: we need leadership that leads, fights, and will confront no matter what.

Contact Congressman Raul Labrador's office, and let him know that he has a growing groundswell of support for his run for House Speaker.

Afterwards, please revisit this post, and call every other Republican House Rep you can think of and tell them:

Raul Labrador (Gage Skidmore)

Vote for
Raul Labrador of Idaho
