Archbishop Gomez’ Opinion on the Priesthood

Contrary to the head of the Los Angeles Catholic Archdiocese, every believer is member of a royal priesthood. We minister to Christ Jesus every day because everyone of us is the Temple of the Holy Spirit.

Indeed, we all share in the anointing of our Lord and Savior, but let us never forget that the calling of pastor, of teacher, is open to anyone who has received the witness and the indwelling Spirit of the Living God.

The Anointing that each of us has received is imparted to us by the power of the Holy Spirit. We do not need special oils, we do not need ceremonies and traditions, beyond the One who loved us and gave his life for us at the Cross, who sits at the right hand of the Father, representing us, interceding for us, and according us His person, filled with blessing and power.
