Arab Spring -- An Iranian Nuclear Winter?

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has called for Israel to wiped off the map.

One of the world's most notorious Holocaust deniers, he also charges that the Europeans should be responsible for shoring up displaced Jewry, not the Middle Eastern territory that was changed over from the British Mandate to the Jewish State.

The Jews have every right to live in Palestine. They have lived in that region for thousands of years. Jewish settlers from the 1880's on have transformed an Ottoman backwater wasteland into a thriving, restored paradise. To this day, Arabs in surrounding nations have struggled with poverty, misery, and autocracy.

Once a denizen of poverty, Israel is a land teeming with prosperity.

Unlike the Arab states surrounding the region, Israel is a blossoming, a Middle Eastern Spring that has not ceased to yield good to the world, whether in agriculture, technology, or commerce.

Before a frustrated vegetable vendor set himself on fire in final, despairing protest, Israel was a haven for politically dispossessed peoples. Even the persecuted religious minorities of Sudan have found a safe land to settle in, despite the growing backlash to unfettered immigration that every free society must negotiate.

Because Israel is the Promised Land for all -- Jew, Christian, Arab, Gentile -- the leaders of the Jewish State have every right and necessity to prepare against the stirring Iranian Nuclear Winter.

If Muslim heads of state breathes existential threats against a fellow-state, then the nation of Israel must take those ominous warnings seriously. In the event that Iran develops nuclear capabilities, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his coalition have every right to strike before they are struck.

Despite the stunning set-back of releasing one thousand Palestinians prisoners for one Israeli soldier, the Jewish state still have the power and authority to protect itself, and the people of Israel must not permit pacifist sentiment to dissuade them from self-protection.

Whatever challenges they may face, I pray that the state of Israel will neutralize any threat to its total existence, whether political, military, or nuclear.
